My daughters car is a 2010 Volvo XC 90. Last summer she had problems with the key not turning in the ignition. Found out that Gemini was the only shop on town that could to the work. Talking with John on the phone I found him very knowledgeable about the car. He ordered the part from Volvo and had the car fixed in record time. Just recently the anti skid message in the dash kept coming on. Fortunately John had a cancellation right while I was there and was able to work on the car that day. OEM part ordered and car was ready by lunch time the next day. He also knew the car was headed x/c and gave the car a good look over making it safe for the trip replacing a couple small light bulbs, wipers and topping off fluids. my car broke down a few days ago, and i ended up having it towed here. they put me in as an emergency even when they were fully booked (which i was very grateful for). the mechanic (im not sure who) can be kind of snappy on the phone, but in the end they get the job done. they repaired my car that wasn't accelerating, engine light on, as well as my engine half powering: i was able to drive over 100 miles home smoothly (and thankfully) after their repair. *THE COST IS NOT CHEAP AT ALL*, but if you want someone who knows about foreign cars (i have a mini cooper) , this is the place to go. read more

John really knows his stuff, but he is misunderstood. He is fine with me and doesn't bubble with customer service and small talk, but he's never done me wrong on advice and servicing (and I've had three cars serviced there). If you have a European car, there is nobody more knowledgeable in the area about them. He ain't cheap, but he is good and he is honest. He does try to save you money in the long run, thus ain't cheap and it has worked out in my favor. Sometimes his honesty is misunderstood. I live 300 miles away so I decided to send it to Gemini. Shortly after Gemini received the car, I received a call from John who told me what the problems were and gave an estimate. Their management/ownership is top notch, their mechanics are second to none, and their prices are quite reasonable. I'm getting ready to drop off my FIFTH Volvo for diagnostics and routine maintenance, KNOWING I'll have the best service I can possibly ask for. Just to be clear, each and every vehicle I've taken to John has come back to me running and/or driving, SO MUCH better than I dropped it off. I have mixed feelings about the business. They did go out of their way to make a good temporary fix to my civic's exhaust leaks, and they justified their more expensive service costs with what I thought was a convincing explanation of what they were doing for my car in the long term. Today's experience with them will be my last, however. I value auto shops that do only what I ask them to, and *ask* me before they do further, unsollicited work on my car. Gemini seems to be in the habit of going right ahead and doing whatever they see fit, and I narrowly avoided them turning an oil change/tire rotation into a belt fixing saga. I love this place. Having a trusted mechanic is so essential. I would never buy used audis and bmws if I didn't use Gemini, because I would be so afraid of getting hosed with all the repair costs along the way. Gemini does such extensive preventative maintenance that it keeps the big problems to a minimum. Sure, the average oils change costs more than a jiffy lube, but having an expert look everything on your car over, grease the door handles, rotate the tires, treat any rust, etc... is so worth it when you have a very expensive 5 year old car. When I balked at paying for a part on my car that they broke, he went off the deep end and began verbally abusing me. All I could do was stand there as he yelled. these guys are jerks. went in to get my A6 looked at after my CEL came on randomly the day before going on a road trip and they wouldnt even consider taking a look at my vehicle to tell me what was wrong. worse, i got yelled at and they made me feel like i was the one that was being unreasonable. While I can appreciate they are super busy and may not have the time for a walk-in, its unacceptable to blame the customer and be a jerk. as a side note, i've never written a bad review on yelp. i will never be taking my vehicle back to them. read more
