I know there's a lot of negative on here, but after having some confusion about a parking violation, Robert was super timely and understanding in all aspects. He got the issue squared away immediately and I have nothing negative to say. He made my experience with Walk's Towing great. Thanks Rob! read more

I love Mexican food, so when I heard that California Tortilla was coming to the area, I was excited. Unlike most places downtown, they have a parking lot, so it's easy access too. Since they opened, I've eaten there at least 15 times, never having a bad experience... until last night. Since this is a college town, I generally try to avoid downtown restaurants during the semester because of the crowds. This week, being Thanksgiving, meant that all the restaurants were much less crowded, so I thought California Tortilla would be a good choice for dinner. I went in, noticed there wasn't a single other customer, ate in almost complete silence with nobody around, then left to give blood. My plan was to come back and eat more, but when I came back about 2 hours later, my car was gone. Apparently, they hire a company to monitor their lot and tow cars when they feel like it. The woman apparently went into the restaurant, saw nobody, waited a few minutes, then towed my car. When I got back, I saw my car was gone, and went in to ask. The manager said that the lady outside had towed it, but he didn't know where it was, or what company it was, or who to call. He said nobody from the restaurant called to have it towed, and since there still was only one other car in the lot, he readily remembered that I had been there. I went out to speak with the woman, and she was one of the rudest people I've ever met. She didn't care that I had eaten there, or that I planned to eat there again. She said that as soon as I walked off the premises, the car was in violation and she could tow it. She gave me no information, and when I asked where my car was, she gave me the street address, but no company name or phone number. As soon as I turned around, she drove away. I went back inside and had to Google the street address to find the company and phone number, and called. In the end, I had to pay $7 for my meal, and $190 to get my car back. Absolutely miserable experience. read more

I had a very unpleasant encounter with the man working the phones at walks. He was very dismissive and combative when I was asking questions and was overall very rude. read more

This company is blatantly predatory and seems to survive by targeting college students. My car was towed despite having paid for and properly parking in a valid spot. There was absolutely no legitimate reason for the tow. When I contacted them, the staff was rude, dismissive, and clearly uninterested in resolving the situation. They offered no explanation, no proof of wrongdoing, and acted like this kind of behavior was normal. It felt less like a mistake and more like a calculated cash grab. The fat worker didn't help at all and made my life a living piece of hell. This company relies on confusion, intimidation, and the assumption that young people won't fight back. If you're a student or live near a campus, be extra careful or better yet, avoid this company entirely if you can. Predatory, unprofessional, and unethical. read more

this company is laughable and preys on college kids. Towed my car for being parked in my parking spot I payed for and when I spoke to the manager, Tom he was completely dismissive. This feels like a predatory towing operation rather than a legitimate business. I would strongly warn students and renters to be extremely cautious. If I could I wouldn't even give them a one star. read more

This place preys on broke college students. They are like sharks that drive around looking for their next find. My PSU son and I were touring a rental house on West College Ave. We parked in the designated parking for the rental. We were the only car parked in the whole entire parking lot. We were looking at the rental less than 30 minutes. We come out to a Walks Tow truck lining up to tow our car away! I asked the Walks guy what he was doing. He said he was towing us for no permit. I explained we were looking at the house to possibly rent. He again said I need a permit. I was not happy and he left. My son and I get in the car to go home and realize he also put a ticket on our windshield! So within 30 minutes he ticketed us and then attempted to tow us for parking in the parking space of a rental we were viewing. I called Walks and told them I am not paying their ticket and that they deserve the awful reputation they have in our community. They really should be ashamed of themselves. DO NOT ever do business with this scam of a company. read more

Walk's Towing - The tow truck driving away. - Towing Near Me - State College, Pennsylvania

Pregnant wife and I went 30 steps from vehicle to pick up pho to go, walked back outside within 5 minutes and my truck was hooked up. My wife simply asked to get some of her pregnancy necessities out of the vehicle and the tow driver proceeded to yell at her and call her racial slurs that I cannot repeat here. Absolutely unacceptable! read more

I'm pretty sure that I have reviewed them. Let me review them again. I have run into them or nearly run into them numerous times, or perhaps I should say they have nearly run into me as they casually and carelessly drive their two trucks through town on roads and into the path of cars and bikes. If they repair or tow as cautiously as they drive, god help you. read more

I was towed from my own residence at The Heights in State College, despite showing clear proof that I live there and had just purchased the vehicle (with valid temporary tags). I spent 45 minutes pleading with the driver, explaining my situation, showing documentation, and offering to move the car immediately. I told him the $180 fee he was demanding was all I had for groceries and medication that week -- he laughed at me. After pressuring me to pay on the spot under threat of doubling the charge, he dropped the car within seconds of payment and drove off, proving the tow could've easily been avoided. Then he handed me a $25 ticket for the same violation, meaning I was both ticketed and towed -- excessive and clearly profit-driven. I later learned that Walk's has been sued by the Pennsylvania Attorney General for these exact kinds of tactics and was forced to settle. Their Google and Yelp reviews are filled with similar stories: residents, students, and families targeted, insulted, and charged outrageous fees. They do not operate like a professional service. They operate like a predatory business profiting off fear and desperation. Avoid them at all costs if you can -- and if you're a property manager reading this, do better for your residents. read more

Walk's towing are real pieces of shit human beings, they have no empathy towards people they tow. if You have no money and get towed by these jerks then don't expect them to lift a finger to help you out with fees, payment plans, or anything. Even if the towing was due to a misunderstanding and you have a permit to park where you were towed from they do not care and will hold your vehicle for ransom until you pay their ridiculous fees. They charged $275 plus Storage which comes out to $335 they towed my car literally from right across the street of their tow yard and still charged all of that. I had to borrow money from family in another state to get my car back. I hope they run into someone less law abiding than I am who messes with their vehicles costing them money and business. They are crooks and I hope karma gives them assholes exactly what they deserve. read more

Walks predatory and shamelessly targets young, broke college students. They patrol like vultures, waiting to pounce on any opportunity to tow, regardless of circumstance. There's zero compassion or willingness to work with anyone -- just a cold focus on extracting money. Their outrageous fees and rude service make it clear they care more about profit than people. Students already struggling to get by deserve better. Avoid this company at all costs if you value fairness and decency. read more

Terrible and crooks !!! Check them out multiple lawsuits for unfair business practice. Drivers work on commission and drive around looking to tow any vehicle. We had my car parked outside my apartment not even 20 minutes and here comes the tow truck. We told him that it was our vehicle and asked him to not tow it and he continued to set the car up for towing. After doing this, he asked for ID and payment method.... like mf we told you not to tow the shit and we were gonna move it ??? $150 just because he decided to ignore us until he was able to charge us for setting up the tow. The man that scammed us sure looked like he needed the money so hopefully he is able to use it to purchase a shower and a razor. I can only agree with other reviewes wholeheartedly. July 2024. Welcome to the life of a broke grad student and single mother. I parked for one night at my friend's place because I have no where else to go until I move out of State College. The parking lot was absolutely empty. I was not bothering anyone. But Walk's Towing is after money. Like the comment says, these people are a nuisance to society. They are only here to add pain to people already suffering. If you have been a victim to this scam email or contact the ATTORNEY GENERAL @ scams@attorneygeneral.gov or call 800-441-2555. I attached the article regarding this company. They just continues to scam people even after they have been caught. The clerk wouldn't allow me to take the violation ticket so I took a picture instead and when I questioned it clerk kept saying both the violation fee and towing fee must be paid in ordered for the towing company to release the car. When i gave her push back she said $25 violation is the state college city fee. I would give no stars, but not an option. This review is regarding Walk's Towing...another part of their business. I would NEVER trust them with my car. My daughter's vehicle was towed from her apartment building. They unnecessarily(she has front wheel drive and no one was parking spots in front of her) used a dolly which allowed them to charge and extra $50. On her receipt, the tow driver colored in her whole car to indicate damage so that they would not be liable for any damage. When we called to ask manager if the apartment building gets money for this, he evaded the question. They are parasites taking advantage of college students. They made $295 for 10-15 min of work-$1200/hr. Their garage is 1 mile away from apartment. This is EASY money for them and they are like vultures waiting for the opportunity to sweep in and take vehicles. read more

Absolutely terrible company! I parked on E. Calder Way near the corner of McAllister Street for a total of 3 hrs and was towed after 2 hrs. It cost me $335 to retrieve my car from Walk's Towing and it clearly seems like a scam to make money by whatever private business owns that parking lot. This is an unjust company. There is currently a lawsuit in action against them. If you have been wronged, contact the attorney general by phone (717-787-3391) or submit a report (https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/submit-a-complaint/). They are actively working on injustices against this company. For the justice of State College, don't just be mad but instead please take the time to contact the attorney general. Not only are the Walk's people rude, but they have deception and lies that can have consequences when reported. As examples, here are three things I reported: 1. Improper use of a dolly. They charged $50 for a dolly. However, if your car has front wheel drive, no parking brake on, and nothing impeding access to the front of the car, a dolly is not needed. My car did not need a dolly, yet I had to pay the extra $50 to get my car back. 2. A ticket fee. This is what the Attorney General is attacking. Apparently these is some illegal stuff going on around this. A ticket fee is never mentioned in the ordinance that regulates parking tickets, and when I asked Walk's about it they could not give me information on how/why/if a ticket was even written. No proof of a ticket or even explanation. 3. They marked on the receipt I was given that my car was damaged on every side. They literally colored in the car outline on the paper to indicate damages. This takes away all liability, but my car was not damaged in all the places marked so this was a blatant lie. read more

Walk's towing is s predatory towing service. They will issue private parking tickets and tow your vehicle if you are parked in a "PERMIT ONLY" private lot. They are NOT the police and have no enforcement mechanism. Do not contact them. If you are towed you are pretty much fucked. You can park on the road with your flashers on to unload. Do NOT pay their private parking tickets. They cannot do a damn thing if you do not pay because even though they have your license plate, they don't know who you are. They hope your stupid enough to pay. If you guard your car and they will run away like the predatory rats that they are. I confronted one of their ASSHOLES on 8/17/2024 as I was moving my son into his apartment. The operator did not want to engage and quickly exited the scene to snare another unsuspecting parent. They were very helpful with my car that was totaled. All the employees i spoke with, on both occasions I was here, were especially nice.

Scum of the earth. My car was plucked from its rightful place like a noble king being usurped by a greedy foe. I came to the usurpers with proof I had valid parking and even had my landlord call them to explain the situation (thanks Jason). I presented them with the kind of evidence that would exonerate anyone in a just and rightful world. But I was not met with an apology nor understanding but with a fee of 180 bucks (my only rations for the next two weeks) for the "drop fee". A fee so bloated and devoid of any morals. These fees are not "standard" as they would say, they are scum of the earth economics the kind of rate setting that could only be conceived by those utterly divorced from empathy or ethics. It is the financial equivalent of spoiled meat dressed in gold repugnant grotesque and offered with a grin. To anyone reading this I beg you to beware and proceed with great caution. What a horrible company, if you want to call it that. College kids are innocent but taking advantage is abhorrent, unprofessional and immoral. There are those that knowingly park illegally. The majority park and look for no parking signs because its well known that parking is a premium around the university. Towing a car 1 mile and charging $300 to do is gouging, pure and simple. What comes around, goes around. Plus, the lot attendant was rude and dismissive. If there what a -10 rating, they would get it. read more

Horrible management and company... they prey on college students who are inexperienced and vulnerable.. My son was taking a carpet cleaner into his apartment and had his car parked right outside his door with his four ways on to drop it off. Within 15 minutes he heard his car getting hooked up to a tow truck. He went outside to see what was going on and they hit him with a $180 bill and a $25 towing violation. Of course he's a rule follower and paid - using every bit of the money he had from his already minimal paycheck- I did mention he's in college, right? He said the driver was nice enough, but when he called the company to see if he could do anything about the bill... he said that the manager was the rudest person he ever spoke with... great way to make a buck Walks! You're a real class act, but I think you only care about the money and not your reputation. I actually downloaded yelp just to write this review. When I realized my car was towed while moving out I gave them a call. The lady was pretty nice however when the man got on the phone he then mansplained to me for like ten minutes about how they "legally" don't have to give a warning about towing the car because they "aren't the police." My car was given a ticket less than an hour after I parked and towed one hour later with no contact. Then when I showed up at the office and had to wait outside the building for a bit I had to pay 335 dollars plus the 25 dollar ticket to get the car back. I'd have to agree with the rest of the reviews. A tow company tows cars obviously, but they could do with less mansplaining and acting like I'm stupid assuming bc I'm a woman, and they could stop praying on college students. I live in the poorest building you can find and to tow my car when I barely have money in my bank account and demand hundreds of dollars is just a scam.
