Kelly Giga Oyster.....so good!
Pamela V.

Spent a quick afternoon in Galway and happened upon this quaint establishment. Service was great! We ordered a dozen raw oysters (Kelly Gigas). Hands down the best oysters we've ever had. That means a lot since we live of the Gulf of Mexico. Burgers were excellent! We hope to someday make our way back.

The food is amazing and the atmosphere is a lot of fun. It's got a medieval cottage vibe. The the oysters are out of this world and the seafood chowder has so much fish in it you can make it a whole meal. Service was maybe a little slow for some people but honestly I really liked that it was relaxed and I could take my time. I'm sure they would be accommodating of a need for faster service if requested too. They were all very nice.

Ribeye with lots of Garlic butter and my beautiful wife Donna.

We are in Galway for a few dats and casually walked in to this place. I was tired of fish and chips and wanted a Ribeye Steak. I was thrilled when they brought my steak rare but on a HOT slate stone so I got to cook it myself and let me tell you it was the Best steak since I went to the Salt Grass Cafe in San Antonio Texas on my 60th birthday 7 years ago. We were a group of 4 and the only people in the place so I was very concerned but I would be willing to go back daily. Do Yourself a FLAVOR and check this hidden gem out. I got my steak with the garlic butter that I slathered on myself. Good groceries!!

I ordered seafood chowder, mussels, and a pint of Guinness! Seafood chowder was the best one that I have had during last few days. The mussels also was great! The best thing about this restaurant was the people who work there, they were great! The restaurant's decorations and music were also great!

Black stone ribeye

Best steak in Galway. So many places to advertise sirloin. And I've had some good ones. Everyone specializes in this peppercorn sauce. This place rocked. They have sirloin but what separates them is that they offer ribeye! Ireland--offer ribeyes! Great drink menu. Great staff. Small, like most places. Close to the Spanish Arch thing. You can cook it on a Stone yourself (ala American restaurant "black rock") or chef cook. I cooked my own. It was fabulous. You can control the steak. Cut in half and cooked then second half.

Dessert

We loved this restaurant so much we ate there both nights while in Galway. The mussels and brown bread were wonderful as was the tagliatelle pasta. We enjoyed the wine on tap and the desserts were beautiful and tasty. Highly recommend on very touristy street to try this place!!

Goat cheese parcel salad

A hidden gem in the Latin Quarter. we were tipped off by a local to go here. We got the goat cheese parcel salad and it was the best salad I've ever had. Goat cheese just ozzed out after you cut into the parcel. I got the duck on a hot stone and it was everything I could've imagined. My mother got the Seabass and wasn't sure if she'd like it. But it was one of the best things we've eaten in Ireland so far. I'd highly recommend it and my mother also like the espresso martini. We loved the staff and feel of this place and is an awesome place to go to in galaway.

Nice place with outdoor seating. The salmon was very tasty. Sweet potato fries were a nice tough and the hummus was just okay

Lamb shank and seafood platter

Arrived here haphazardly on a busy Saturday night. Truly a hidden treasure. We ordered the seafood chowder, which was superb. Served in a large shallow bowl it was enough for two. It was very flavorful and contained generous chunks of fresh fish. The lamb shank was largely portioned (moreso than anywhere else I'd had it, but can't complain.) it was succulent and delicious. My partner had the seafood platter. Both dishes were memorable. Highly recommend this restaurant for a quieter, more romantic dining experience with great ambiance.

My husband has wanted me to try what he called "Steak on a Rock" for years, since he had a favorite steakhouse that served it like this in Germany. As we walked by Gemelle's on Quay in the Latin Quarter, we saw people eating said Steak on a Rock! We came back a few days later. If it hadn't been our last night in Galway, we probably would have gone back! The restaurant has a very clean feel, nothing like a pub. Our filets arrived seared and sizzling on a lava rock. I had the mushroom sauce for a side and it was so fantastic, as was the steak! The fries were perfect that there were tons of them. I had the affogato for dessert. I wish so much that the cocktail that I had was listed so I knew exactly what was in it, but I think it was gin, elderflower syrup, and Prosecco with some frozen mixed berries in it. I loved it and had two. I made one at home! I will probably never return to Ireland, but if I ever do, this will be on the list and will probably still be going strong, as we chatted with the owner's son who told us that they had been in business for 20 years. A final note: Yelp users said this restaurant is not good for kids. Please believe it. It is very small with not very much room between tables, and there is nothing for them to eat but french fries. Stop trying to put square pegs in round holes.

My best experience in Ireland so far. You can have a menu with 2 courses (starter + main OR main + dessert) for 20€ or a menu with 3 courses (start+main+dessert) for 25€. The same price as the restaurants around. I took the steak with homefries served on a black lava stone. The steak filet was just incredible, no need for any sauce, just perfect. The homefries were just good. In dessert I took the warm chocolate cookie. Homemade, melting, served with ice-cream, it was as incredible as the steak. Do not hesitate to eat in this restaurant, it is worth the price.

Oysters were really fresh! Mussels in a creamy sauce is a must try. Sweet potato fries were crispy and really good. Ask for the home made sauce - it pairs really nicely with the fries. Calamari rings were slightly too oily.

Pappas ravas, meat and cheese plate, and crostini made a wonderful light meal.

We're just about there when the manager comes up behind us and said he found a table. Pretty impressive service. The table was in a medium sized room away from the music which was great as you could hold a conversation. Our server came over quickly to take our drink orders and once we had the drinks be places our order, cottage pie and fish and chips. The cottage pie was served in a small, but not too small oval baking dish with a nicely browned top on the potatoes. It also came with a side of gravy which was a nice touch. Digging in there was a good amount of pulled well seasoned brisket with carrots mixed. Very tasty dish. The fish and chips arrived with a good portion chips and a moderately sized piece of well fried fish. The fish was very fresh and flaky and the breading was very light so it didn't over power the fish. We had a pleasant meal with two great servers, a manager that wouldn't give up on finding us a table and great music (acoustic guitar) to keep us enter. Definitely a great place for drinks and a good meal and one that we will gone back to.

The inside is beautiful - like a converted greenhouse/cottage with stone walls and lots of natural light. One of the first things I noticed was the pastry counter. It was absolutely stunning with gorgeous cakes and other sweet treats available by the slice. The menu is written on a large chalkboard at the far end of the cafe, which can be hard to read depending on where you're seated. I asked for the staff's recommendation and she said I should try the fried fish. It came served with slaw, salad, brown soda bread, beautiful yellow butter and the most perfect fried pieces of cod I think I've ever had. This was not your typical "fish and chips" style fish but instead, was seasoned to perfection with a bit of a crunchier, thicker batter. Wow, it was incredible. I was also so grateful for the side of slaw and salad as I think that was the first leafy green I had had in over a week since arriving in Ireland. The latte I ordered was also delicious and well made. Staff was friendly and helpful throughout my visit - all working together to efficiently service the lunch rush. I would totally come back here next time I'm in Galway. It is highly recommended for good reason so go see for yourself!
