Such a lively spot! We ended up here for dinner at our first night in Galway. Hearing great things about seafood chowder in Ireland, we ordered it here for the first time as an appetizer. And it was the best I ever had! Fresh tasting and very generous amount of seafood. The soda bread that came along with the chowder was soft and paired perfectly with the savouriness of the chowder. For mains, we ordered the Guinness stew and fish and chips. I think we ordered too much as we were both full and couldn't finish our mains. The stew was yummy but the fish and chips unfortunately was falling apart and a bit hard to eat. It came with mushy peas though which were delicious! Later in the evening there is live music. As the night goes on, the atmosphere gets even more lively and energetic. Service was excellent as well. I would recommend a visit to Dail if you are in the area!
Came here just for drinks on a recent trip to Galway. Such a great cocktail lounge! If you love crafted cocktails this is the place! A great vibe greets you when you walk in and there is a second level with additional seating. TVs are around if you want to watch local Sports. There is also a fully stocked bar to make any drinks as well as a number of beers on taps. Staff was friendly and fast! Taking of people quickly and would promptly take empty glasses. Highly recommend for a night out in Galway!
To : Bar Manager From: Couple on vacation visiting Galway that have spent over 30 years combined in F&B Hospitality If I could give less than a star I would. We were greeted smugly by a strawberry blonde man bunned bartender, but what truly bothered me is i felt gipped. I ordered a mixed shot, a green tea, and my bf ordered a shot of Jameson. His shot comes in an about a 6 oz low ball glass...for a 1-1.5oz straight shot. Mine, a mixed shot, with schnapps and sour mix came in a 1oz glass, which obviously would never fit. (Pic Below) He poured my shot in that small ass glass and while looking us dead in the eyes shot the rest of it right from the shaker tin. Still charged me for the full price of the shot of Jameson, but took half of it right in front of me. Such a shame bc we come from the hospitality industry and would have spent good money and tipped well, but this was the rudest thing we've seen behind a bar. We immediately paid and left. Sure, go here if you enjoy paying to have your bartender take half your shot for you. I've bartended for 15 years and traveled to multiple countries. This is not common practice anywhere, no doubt it was bc he thought we were stupid. Thank God out of 10+ bars in Ireland this was the only one that had the audacity to steal from their customers. Take A LOT for us to leave a negative review, this deserves it.
We came here because of the high reviews. The staff is great and super helpful. I started with the clam chowder which I really enjoyed it was really good, was not a fan of the homemade bread as I thought it was really hard. I had the Irish beef stew which was absolutely delicious and exceed my expectations I highly recommend. My boyfriend had the fish and chips and the fish just did taste fresh so we were pretty disappointed. The expresso martini I had was super good and creamy.
Cool bar that is warm and inviting. Have a seat anywhere and grab a beer (or other bev of choice since they have a full bar). Service at the bar was friendly and quick. Didn't get a chance to try the food as we'd already eaten but by the dishes that came by, they looked and smelled great! Heard the mmmm's from diners around us! Stop by on your visit to Galway's Latin Quarter by the port!
We really enjoyed our dinner at the Dail Bar! I had the chef's special roast of the day, which was very tender and had delicious gravy, and my partner had another special, stuffed chicken with sun dried tomato and pine nuts. Both very flavorful and filling! My side of vegetables were steamed and not seasoned so I'd have preferred more flavor, but the roasted vegetables with the chicken were very good. Our waiter was great, very attentive and pleasant. Overall a satisfying experience!
Surprisingly good! We got the catch of the day and the steak. The fish was perfectly good and the roasted potatoes and tomate sauce good sides that were well paired. The side of boiled vegetables was not particularly good as there was no sauce nor oil to put on them. The steak was good cooked as asked, and the side of veggies and fries were average. Price ranges between 17 and 23€.

We only popped in here for a pint so can't rate the food but it was a cute bar and the bartender was super helpful and friendly in helping us select a new beer to try. read more

Outstanding and delicious dinner at the Dáil Bar. The Irish stew was so thick, hot and flavorful! The generous helping of mashed potatoes was perfect with it. I had a side of garlic calbata which was thin, charred to perfection and delicious. I finished with sticky toffee pudding. Hot toffee pudding and cold ice cream drizzled in Carmel sauce. What great ambiance! We were seated upstairs in a corner with plenty of room to spread out. Our server was great and made many good suggestions. I went with the Bulmers Cider (always a good choice and they also offered a 0.0 version) plus the beef stew with mashed potatoes. The stew was thick and delicious and perfect for a rainy day. My brothers got the seafood chowder and they raved about it. They also got the bangers and mash and seemed very happy with their choices. The pink tree hanging out over the stairwell made for a lovely background for pictures from our booth. I definitely would recommend eating here. Good food and beverage choices, clean bathroom, and helpful wait staff. Plus we didn't need to wait to be seated during dinner time. read more

Stopped here super late night and the they still had live music and it was great. We went to the upstairs bar and it wasn't too packed. The service was friendly and live music was good. Worth a stop! read more

We went to this place based off reviews and was not disappointed, large pub with great food. Prices were reasonable, and the drinks were cold. Live music was playing below as we sat. Upstairs. Servers were nice and didn't rush us. read more

We came here because of the high reviews. The staff is great and super helpful. Stopped in for a quick pint and a snack at the recommendation of my tour guide - was a pretty good traditional Irish pub. Had never had seafood chowder and enjoyed it - TONS of seafood packed in. Just off Shop St so was completely accessible but felt nicely quiet and tucked away read more

If you are looking for an amazing Bar in County Galway IrelandI highly recommend The DÁIL BAR. Upon entering I was made feel very Welcome. Amazing Customer Service, Very Clean and Amazing Atmosphere. . As stated in the above I was made feel very Welcome. It should be noted I served all the World with the U.S.Marines and lived in the United States of America for over thirty years. I definitely know a great bar from my travels and life experiences . I definitely will visit this amazing bar in the near future again. The DÁIL BAR! rates Five Stars and more! you definitely won't be disappointed. read more

The Dail Bar was home to my favorite meal in Ireland. It was also my first meal in the country. This establishment is situated right in Galway's Latin Quarter and surrounded by cutesy pubs and restaurants. It's huge and hard to miss. Since it's so large, you can really pick your own experience. Chill out downstairs or have a relaxing dinner at one of the tables overlooking the bustling street upstairs. I chose the upstairs section and had a perfect window seat to people watch. My meal was bacon and potatoes. Now this was no breakfast meat. It was thick and juicy and just seriously delicious. I wish I could eat that thing weekly. They also offer a great selection of local beers here, so I went with my server's suggestion (I believe it was a pale ale!) and enjoyed it. I'd highly recommend a visit to The Dail Bar if you're in Galway for a traditional, hearty meal in a cozy environment. read more
Wow, talk about 'typical' Irish in every way! This bar has a nice traditional feel overall. Which ever way you enter, you'll always spot the bar in front of you, with tables and booths around it. There are a few TVs set up around the bar for your match day viewing pleasures as well. The bar seemed clean, so I chose my spot. From the menu, I ordered the Seafood Chowder, €5.45. The Crab Claws, €10.95, and a pint of Guinness, €4.20. Total: €20.60. The Seafood Chowder was good; It contains locally caught fish with a few soft potatoes. The chowder itself was tasty! More soupy, and not so creamy thick. It was also served with homemade brown bread. I wouldn't mind ordering this the next time. The Crab Claws were also decent; This was served in a savory garlic cream sauce, side of salad and more of the homemade brown bread. Although the highlight of this dish was the sauce, I found the claws quite a bit of a challenge. I couldn't easily get all the meat off the claw in one bite. It may have been a bit overcooked. I did have fun dipping the bread in the sauce, but that was about it! Also the warm bowl of water to clean your fingertips with was of great use too! Overall, I liked this place and I wouldn't mind doing another pint here, but most likely would try something different next time. Service wasn't rude or anything, just a little bland. Hardly any smiling, but busy cleaning and organizing. I'd have to waive the bartender down just to get a little attention. No biggie. A satisfying place to kick it! read more
I was just expecting better, I guess :/ . Service felt extremely rushed and was not done with a smile, which was a drag. I like to take my time with what I'm eating and when I order, but I just felt unwanted as soon as I sat down. Everything was alright, nothing was particularly bad, but the fish cakes had strong herb that did not work for me, and the breaded chicken was overly garlicky and unpleasant to eat :/ . Chicken wings and tempura prawns were quite good though, no complaints there, but there was nothing special about them. I understand that this is a bar, and the drinks are more important than the food, but if a place is going to do both, they should do them equally as well. Overall, just okay, but the Guinness was served beautifully. read more

About 9pm we finally had a chance to grab some dinner. Ever try to find a table for dinner at 9pm? It wasn't easy. Many places had ended dinner service and live music was beginning. One of the restaurants referred us here. Upstairs they were still serving dinner, and they were crazy busy. Two other couples walked in after us looking for a table as well so it wasn't just us. Two wait staff, one runner and the manager were all working the floor. They were non-stop. The upstairs restaurant is lovely with dark wood and stained glass details. The dining room holds maybe 20 tables(?). The staircase leading up is wide and winds around a large chandelier. The ground level pub has cozy tables and more dark wood detail. We ordered guinness stew, roast and a side salad. The flavors in the stew were very strong. I liked it but my SO who ordered it, thought the meat tasted off but couldn't place why; maybe cilantro he mused. The roast was a bit dry, but still tender. The mashed potatoes were also dry- more butter or a bit of cream would have helped a lot, or perhaps more gravy. The veg was ok. The side salad included coleslaw which I liked. After dinner we ordered a whiskey and port. By this time the dining room was closing and we were asked to move downstairs where a guitarist was setting up. The waitstaff were all very friendly and efficient. Even though it was quite busy several people came by throughout our meal to be sure we had all we needed and they maintained a sense of humor through it all. Perhaps you don't want to wait until 9pm, but if you do decide to stop in for a meal, it seems you will be well taken care of. read more

The Dail was a very good pub/restaurant that brought in a mix of locals and tourists. Located in the heart of Galway's pub and shopping area, it is easily found. Where to begin? First, the facade has that classic pub feel, with various trademark posters and insignias that give it that proud Irish feel; and the inside of the Dail is no different. The Bar area boasts classic Victorian dividers that are apart of the aged wood layout. The entire bar and restaurant area has sport flags lined across the ceiling, and some of the wall space uses whiskey pantries, with a varied amount of Irish whiskey to drink and buy (The Dail is on the whiskey tour) and both. In other words, if you can't find a whiskey of your choosing you are not a whiskey drinker. Second, the variety of whiskey: Jameson, Middleton, Readbreast, Greenspot, and so much more, give the novice to the whiskey aficionado something to be proud of when they drink. Also, the beer selection should not be ignored either! Third, the service is prompt, friendly( in that special Irish way, and prepared to handle foreigners, locals, and families. The wait-staff knows how to work the bar and the restaurant. They have personality! Lastly, the food was delicious! Too much time could be spent on dissecting The Dail, is it a gastro pub or a pub that serves food? I find that they do not advertise as a gastro pub, but are very conscious of serving tasty food of many kinds. Irish favorites like seafood chowder, burgers, and fish and chips; and as these fan favorites are ubiquitous across the whole of Ireland, The Dail lends itself to Americana and other European food and that is a good thing! Anyway, the locals appreciate the variety as much as the tourists do. I would recommend the the vegetable soup (puréed) with brown bread and the veggie wrap was surprisingly filling but refreshing, in a city where hearty meals run rampant. Though, if hearty meals are your thing too, then you need to eat and drink at The Dail! TIP: most pubs stop serving food after 8:00pm or 20:00. read more
