A $99 service call fee was disclosed in advance. Despite being a relatively simple job, the total cost exceeded $1,900. After researching the cost of the faucet from their local supplier, I discovered that the faucet retailed for $280, yet I was charged $1,142 for the faucet and installation. Replacing three shut-off valves was billed at $673. In total, an estimated $450 in parts resulted in $1,350 in labor for what was less than a 3-hour job. I reached out to management to better understand the significant upcharge and was told the pricing reflects a two-year company warranty. That explanation raised more questions, given the faucet manufacturer already provides a lifetime warranty on parts and finishes for residential users, covering defects in material and workmanship for as long as the original purchaser owns their home. I was also told the shut-off valves were not expected to fail within their two-year warranty. The remaining justification was that G&C hires experienced plumbers who provide a professional and courteous customer experience. Is this not what a consumer should expect?! Then I was informed that G&C provides a complete benefit package for their employees and that plumbers are just expensive. Overall, while the work was completed, the pricing felt significantly out of line with actual cost of parts, scope, and duration of the job.

They also use booties coming in and out of your home/apartment. Along with the service contract, they come in to do a yearly inspection and with a multi-family home it saves us a lot of money. Today, technician Chris Tighe checked everything in all the units - sinks, tubs, shower heads, toilets, disposal, the basement water heaters, pipes etc... and even the faucet outside! There were a couple of minor issues and he took care of them - a dripping faucet in the shower, a shower head drip and then a toilet was running, so he replaced a part and it wasn't crazy money. He asked lots of questions and explained everything he was doing and looking for. It's just such a relief to know that Chris (a super friendly, knowledgeable guy) was a person I could trust and know that all is operating well in the house. We recently had an issue and had someone come for a repair. The tech quoted a number, to which I agreed, although it seemed high at the time. I expected to be able to review the bill for cost of labor and parts, but it came as one line item. When I called and asked for a breakdown, they said they couldn't provide it for me and they did lump sum billing now based on putting a job into their system. Now I feel like I am getting ripped off (the $1,600 discount to sign up for their membership reinforced this, what must the markup be?). Sadly it is impossible to prove otherwise since they won't provide any additional information on parts and labor rates. I will be going elsewhere from now on.

We moved into our condo 19 years ago; central AC stopped working when the next summer rolled around. Same with the next, and the next - a new coolant refill every time. Eventually, when pressed for an answer, Atlantic reported suspicion of a leak in the system, but were unable to find it over the next 5-ish years when AC kept failing to cool right when it gets really hot here each summer. At some point we decided to purchase a new system that cools the air within the unit - bypassing the concern about a possible leak. Absurdly expensive b/c it's huge and on the roof, requiring a crane etc. Except, that one also fails about every one-two years and no one knows why. They're *very good* at making you feel like this fix is the one that will stick, but it never does. Wish we had pushed for a warranty-based fix before our warranty ran out. Also, lots of variance between technicians. This summer, when the system failed per usual and I had to have a technician out, the first technician exclaimed that the amount of rust in the system was very concerning because we were "breathing it all in." When I showed it to an Atlantic salesperson/technician a week or so later, he said that there was absolutely no health risk and that the rust was completely normal. Which one to believe....? In the meantime our mini-splits on the lower floors have been conking out over the past 2-3 years - all pretty old. Said salesperson/technician from the last visit came to provide an estimate two weeks ago. Despite attempts to reconnect with him, he has vanished. I was hoping to get the AC taken care of by now as we're nearing July and it's going to get extremely hot here, but I'm about done with this company.
