Stepping into Gem Hats felt like stepping into a creative hat wonderland.

From blank canvas to bespoke beauty, this is your sign to craft a custom hat at Gem Hats. This is exactly what my friend Maddie and I set out to do so we made our way to Gem Hats in LoHi. Buckle up, fashion friends, "let's make you a hat person". Stepping into Gem Hats felt like stepping into a creative hat wonderland. Walls adorned with colorful hats and shelves filled with unique embellishments set the stage for an afternoon of pure fun. The lovely ladies at Gem Hats greeted us with warm smiles and a contagious enthusiasm for their store. Throughout our hat-making experience, owner Caroline & the Gem ladies were our patient guides, offering expert advice while allowing for our individual styles to shine through. My vision? A classic white hat with a touch of Western flair. We browsed through Gem's selection of hats, from suede to wool to felt, finally settling on a crisp white hat that promised both style and durability. The hat shapes ranged from the iconic flat brim to the bolero, but for that timeless Western vibe, Maddie & I both opted for the classic cowboy silhouette. Once we had our base, it was time for shaping. With a practiced hand, the experts at Gem trimmed and shaped the hats into cowboy silhouettes. Now, we were ready for the next step: adding our personal touch with bands, baubles, and branding. I knew I wanted a band color scheme that was Western chic. I went for a classic red and blue combo, choosing a rich red leather band and a deep blue counterpart. To add a touch of playful elegance, I threw in a light blue ribbon. Feathers and charms galore awaited us next. I added several brown multicolored feathers for dimension and a silver charm for shine. Next up was branding to really make the hats ours. The ladies at Gem used a brand-burning technique to add that touch of permanent flair. For my hat, I chose tiny mountain silhouettes to represent Colorado, and "denv.her." to incorporate my social name. Then Maddie & I, both got matching stars burned onto the back right side of our hats - a little reminder of this fun experience together. We were left with gorgeous finished products & very fond memories. Seeing our initial visions transformed into two stunning, uniquely handcrafted hats was a fabulous experience. The entire process, from the initial brainstorming to the final branding, was interactive & incredibly fun.

I love my hat! Thank you!

Alright Denver, did you know you can make custom hats right here in Cherry Creek? This is none…read moreother than Hats by Parker Thomas. This was my first time making a hat like this and it was so much fun. If you need a hat for the National Western Stock Show, country concert, or just chic western city living, this is the spot. First, we picked out the style and color. Each hat & design depends on each customer, but most hats can be done in around 20 minutes. We were in the shop for about an hour because we were having such a good time. I can't say enough good things about Parker, Taylor & Garrett - they all were wonderful and really helped steer us in the right direction on what colors would look best with our hair and what accessories would look best on the hat. Since I had never done this before, the help was much needed (and appreciated)! I went with a brown feather band and light red cord to be wrapped around the band twice. Then Taylor tied the cord in the back to make a short tail. Our hats were sized & steamed to get the perfect look. The steam made the hats more pliable to make custom crowns and brim shapes. Once the hat was back to room temperature, the new shape was set. Then it was time to brand! This was one of my favorite parts of the hat making experience - it added so much personal character to each hat. I had 'DENV.HER.' branded on the bottom of the rim and also did Parker Thomas' logo. Then I had a rose branded on the top. Talk about a great activity to do with a friend. You can even book Hats by Parker Thomas for private events! They have their own retail display, steamer, tables and racks so they can take this show on the road just about anywhere. My final look was burgundy western chic - love her.

The 100 year old head shape and measuring device is just crazy cool. Wide, well stocked supply of a wide range of hat materials (we went Beaver). I'm sorry for the political plug here but I must: Denver, please understand these materials are imported from Europe where they kill the animals to eat them. Passing a law against fur affects more than the hat on your head and the coat you wear. Please vote against banning these materials that are used from birth to beyond death that sustain so much and so many. Back to Cowboy Up. We love our hats, hat bands, and a very special warrior pin she had found at an estate sale. We will be back. Really don't think you can have too many quality boots (thank you @Lucchese) or hats (@CowboyUpHatters).

I wanted a hat, preferably a western style hat that would bring me back to my youth riding my Paint or a friend's Quarter Horse or the occasional bull. I called a couple places in Denver, but wasn't impressed with their product knowledge. Then I called Cowboy Up, Coleen had me come by for a discussion. So; wife, mother-in-law, father-in-law and I jumped into the F-250 for the short ride to her shop. Now, my wife does not like to wear hats, especially cowgirl hats - always saying she didn't look good wearing one. Well, Coleen gave us a tour of her shop and the incredible artistry that goes into making individually created hats both of us were sold. Wife has a beaver mix and I have a unique Coypu hat. If you are looking for a one of a kind felt hat - Cowboy Up is the only place to go.

Wearing a 5lb raincoat saturated with water is insane. Fast forward to today. I'm waterproofing some other clothing items and think to myself that it may be a solution for the jacket. If I could make my soft shells more water durable, maybe I could do the same for the outside of the jacket? No shot. After a delicate cold machine tech wash, I pull the jacket out and the inner liner is destroyed and coming apart (image attached). This was the first and only wash I've done on this jacket. Followed the care instructions and took even more care of it than labeled. So disappointed in the jacket and the brand. I've submitted a warranty claim on their site so we'll see what happens. Will update the review. *it's a little hard to tell the condition of the inner liner with a photo, but this jacket is unusable now. The neck area is the worst but the inner liner as a whole is compromised.
