This branch of Gelats Dino is really close to the beach, I called in here to pick up some gelato while in the area of Barcelona today.
Many aspects did disappoint me including the lack of product knowledge and quality
Sin gluten 2.5/5
All allergies were labelled with symbols, and there was a good selection of gluten free flavours which included Mandarin and a Catalonian flavour, which I ordered
I was upset that some flavours did contain gluten and I couldn't understand why.
She originally took no notice of this too and stuck a wafer in my pot, she did remake it. She also tried to offer me a cone at first, leading to confusion on whether it would be gluten free:
Product knowledge 1/5
My server and only staff member at the time told me gelato and ice cream were the same, when they are not which for a "Gelato shop" is really unacceptable, as they were selling ice cream. The texture and taste is of course different.
She also struggled to tell me what was in the Catalan flavour, she did offer me a flavour but it was too small to get a good taste.
Quality 1.5/5
It was just too creamy and even the Tangerine tasted of the original vanilla too much, it was ice cream not gelato. I prefer the latter.
Portion Size: 3/5
She did give me two good size scoops
Pricing: 2/5
Reasonable considering the area. It was average and nothing special, the quality was poor and the prices were average
Overall: 10/ 25 working to an average rating of around 2/5
I have decided not to keep it at two however, and instead feel this place deserves a single one star which is mainly down to the significance of the poor quality and issues with product knowledge, and feel this place is more deserving of a higher one star rating. read more
