Weather was perfect, crew was helpful, as were other boaters. We had a good time and enjoyed the day. The boat was in good condition. It lacked horsepower, but that is probably a good thing for amateur boaters. A water safety class was required before rental. Be mindful of the capacity limits posted on the boat. read more

Geist Marina was soooo much fun! I got Invited to celebrate my friends birthday on a boat this summer and man did we have fun! The directions were a little challenging at first but once we checked in and got on the boat all was well! The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating! You're allowed to bring everything. lol So bring food, ice, coolers, and music. The boat had an aux cord but it was a little hard to hear at times so I used my stereo. Restrooms are clean and were located by the check in desk! They have a variety of restaurants near too. My fave was Pucchnis pizza. Yum yum! The weather was perfect for most of the day but when it started raining we anxiously docked the boat and the staff ran out to us to help! If you're lucky enough to grab a summer pontoon reservation, you won't be disappointed! The boats are in great shape, especially for rentals. The check in process is very seamless and they even run through a safety check/boat tour with you to make sure you're comfortable before departing. I've used their online portal for rentals now two separate times and it was super easy. I highly recommend checking it out! You'll need to bring your own ropes if you plan to dock anywhere such as Wolfie's or tie to another boat. I also highly recommend bringing your own floaties, but they do have an air pump there at the gas station for you to use! Tip #1: bring an aux cord or waterproof speaker!! Tip #2: you'll need to fill up the gas after you use the boat (additional fee), and only debit/credit cards were accepted! read more

I rented a pontoon for Friday and I called to ask before I rented what the cancellation fee is- because there is potential rain- and the lady on the phone told me there was none if I just call ahead of time. I just called to cancel and she said they don't do cancellations only rescheduling- which I see that now with my receipt. But I took her word for it on the phone. So now I'm stuck with $175 fee for a boat I will not use because I live in Tennessee, not IN. She should've been more careful how she worded this to me- there goes $175 for nothing! read more

I loved that Geist offered $200 all day weekday rentals. However, they showed no flexibility with rain and changing times. We ended up only being able to boat for 3 of the 8 hours. The pontoon was new and clean except they left dirt from the anchor all over the front seat and dirty water in the cup holders. We also liked that the pontoons were pet friendly. We enjoyed our couple hours boating and 1 hr swimming in Geist but because of the low amount of ground covered and only a 60 horsepower motor (they don't have any higher horsepower boats) we were definitely overcharged for gas as well, we know this from experience. The employees were nice enough, we would've just appreciated a little more flexibility. read more

I had a great time on the boat of this company. But that's solely the experience of having a group a friend's that has a great time. Overall I was very disappointed on how the staff handled our reservation. Very long story short I was with a party that was originally 12 that became 10. I was not the reserver but within the party. All I know is that we got on the boat and we had to have a staff member come over to explain that they have been having issues with the boat we had rented where the engine would need to be restarted every once in awhile. He informed us the best had been noted to stop on its own. The staff as a result wanted to show someone how to restart the engine from time to time when it stopped by itself. They did tell us that they had a service boat available to us. Yet there was not enough room on that boat to best serve the Party. I did found that the staff member dealing with the situation was disregarding our concerned about our safety. At least four of us made it very clear that we felt uncomfortable on the boat and that we would like to switch to a comparable size boat. Staff member who is a blond male disregarded one or two comments about safety and just wanted to show someone how to restart the engine if the engine stalled in or stopped. He then told us that he was not concerned about our safety but that in fact the boat "was fine even though it needed to be serviced". At that point I decided to make this a learning opportunity for this young man. I did let him know, calmly, that was I felt it was very inappropriate for him to disregard the concerns of more than four people about their safety. I understand what he was saying and his efforts to trying to resolve the situation. But I explained that to disregard someone's voicing their safety was totally an appropriate action and he should address it everytime this concern was said. During this time I also asked if the original reservationist was given any notice about the boat she had scheduled to rent that it needed service and that a backup would be provided day of if needed. The staff member let me know that this was never information given to the reserver. We asked since we were the first 3 parties being served for that day if we could switch to another boat as we saw many 5 to 7 party boats surrounding us. The staff explained that we cannot switch to another boat because the boat we had was specifically reserved us; the other parties had been hand picked by those parties. I didn't yet again asked why I hadn't the original reserver had NOT been giving notice 2 to 3 days prior about the boat needing servicing and that a boat that was comparable in space, which was not the back up boat, was NOT available. As our other safety concerns this was not addressed I wanted to get a manager. However the original reservationist did decide since we were already on the boat with all our things that we were just trying a person to jumpstart a boat when it stops. Please note that the boat stopped in the water with the engine stopping 3 total times during 9 to5 reservation. We were successfully able to jump-start boat but honestly, this is not something that you ask the customer to do. As a result of the request for paying guests to restart a boat that needs to be offline to be serviced and the onsite disgraded type of customer service, two stars is the result. I really do hope you improve. I want to make a reservation with the company in the future. Especially since it had been in my plans to do a future very special event with the company. So I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to try their services. Maybe next season will be better. read more

Mooring with great satisfaction to our slip completed a process that began with Qs to marina Manager Greg Binder last summer about slip rentals as we were anticipating our boat purchase. Greg's a real gentleman, and gives straight up counsel and insights. A unique, enjoyable, cold New Year's weekend with others who were also awaiting the door to open 1/3 Monday morning to submit our application was effective as Greg's advice was spot on. Now we have new boating friends from within the cue from that weekend. The staff at Geist Marina, Chino, Monica and Rick, have welcomed us warmly. We look forward to experiencing the practical convenience of a Geist Marina slip and available amenities like fuel and food. We've been advised by Greg about what to anticipate about boating at Geist, and we are managing our expectations for all the firsts that lie ahead of us. So far, so good. You can rent a tandem kayak for the entire day for only $20. Single kayaks are $10 for the whole day. The view is not as scenic as I would have liked but for the price you can't go wrong. My husband and I had a very romantic date here then we were able to go to the neighboring restaurants and grab a couple drinks and apps. Great day date. They also provide life vests. Boat rentals are available and all are by the day, not hourly. We will becoming back for sure. read more

This is not an angry review but a disappointed one. I expected more respect and hospitality from the company. We had made a booking for a day that eventually turned out to have thunderstorms. We made sure to double check on their refund and cancellation policies before booking. It clearly said "Scheduling changes must be made 3 days in advance of use date." I called them 4 days in advance to cancel and the person who answered my call was extremely rude and was refusing at first to refund because of the weather. He said we'd have to cancel the day of, even though that "cancellation due to weather HAVE to be made on day of use" was not listed among the conditions upon booking. Eventually, the man refunded and said "in the future read the fine print" then hung up on me. I called again and told him it only mentioned calling 3 days in advance for scheduling changes and I explained how it's not ok to hang up on customers. He said "you've been refunded, what else are you looking for?" to which I replied "I was going to reschedule eventually, but you'll just lose customers this way" and he said " that's your personal opinion". It's such a shame, I was looking forward to enjoying a day on a boat with my family. read more

The Geist Marina was a decent experience. We took a boat out to celebrate my 30th birthday. The problem was the pontoon boat we rented, they said could fit 12 adults. We had seven on it and we had to rearrange people on the boat as if we had too many on the front or rear, it would start to lean one way too much. There was not enough seats to realistically do the number they wanted. The day was nice and we were out on the water for a decent portion and the actual experience on the water was okay. The boat itself wasn't super impressive as it went slower than some other pontoon boats and it wasn't the best boat in the world. The water and the fun with friends made up for it though. read more

Geist Marina is a complete fraud. They charged me $30.00 to launch my 2 jet skis and when one wouldn't start I was told by their employee to just bring my receipt back after I charged the ski and I could launch. When I came back I was told since it was the next day that I would have to pay the launch fee again. After I complained, I elevated to the manager Nicole who was just as useless as the other employees and told me the same thing. This business is complete fraud and their employees are completely incompetent. It is not a surprise they are working at a marina and completely lack any customer service skills. I would avoid this place at all cost. read more
