Every year feels like the year I'll start skiing again despite last skiing in childhood. Instead I just go to après ski events. I always complained that there's really nowhere hyper local to get ski attire whether for actual skiing or after ski. I found just the place during Lakewood Chocolate Walk - Geiger's! AMBIANCE: Standalone store in downtown Lakewood that's apparently been part of the community since 1932 (wow!) For being such a longstanding retail space it's surprisingly modern. It really reminds me of Eddie Bauer's. The store has multiple rooms of outdoor attire. MERCHANDISE: Most of the attire (predominantly women's and children's) looks like chic athletic-ish attire to wear around Lakewood. Faux fur vests are especially soft and high quality. There is an entire room of skiing gear - skis, ski goggles, and sweaters with ski landscapes. There's also a pretty expansive selection of children's attire. You'll find popular brands like Patagonia and Yeti, and also less known brands. Prices are mostly what you'd expect at a high-end department store. SERVICE: The service at the store wasn't too attentive. Employees were a bit awkward with client interactions. Perhaps because it was busy. Check out this store if you are looking for winter attire like coats, chunky sweaters, gloves, and hats. There are plenty of choices here. They honored their 20% off and the conversation was extremely professional, kind and efficient. No other company was giving this value or deal. Period. Old school customer service that you don't get anymore in this rat race world. Tom was the man that helped me, so shout out to Tom at Geiger's. He needs to put on a clinic on how to treat customers. Geiger's is such a lovely store. I'm a fan of all locations of this family owned business, and each one feels different. Like the other locations, this Geiger's has a great selection of upscale women's clothing, including a huge Vera Bradley selection (if you're into that). But where this location stands out is the selection of sports equipment. If you're a sports enthusiast, nearly half of the store is dedicated to equipment and probably anything you could ever need for most sports. My idea of camping is literally Phyllis Neffler in Troop Beverly Hills, but if I ever decide to pitch a tent in the wilderness, I imagine I'll find everything I need here to live off the land. Otherwise, I'll stick to their glorious selection of ski wear and equipment, as well as the beautiful selection of Patagonia and other jackets. Oh, and i'll stick to purchasing their beautiful women's wear and killer cashmere scarves. read more

I wandered in here not really knowing what I was looking for. My eyeballs were instantly attacked by the over-the-top display of Vera Bradley bags. YEOWW! One or two, or even twenty, of these is kinda cool to look at. But Geiger's seriously had hundreds. What a headache! Plus, why is a bag that looks like your grandma's quilt so damn expensive? No matter. When I was approached about how I may be helped, I made something up that ended up being true. I glanced over at the rack of sunglasses and remembered that I needed a new pair for running. Not too expensive (I'm talkin' under $20) and with a comfortable wrap-around style. Within five minutes, I found them for $18.99! They were even better than the pair I'd been mourning (lost them). The people working here were friendly and helpful. And to think that the only reason I came in was because I was waiting on a takeout order from [that establishment whose name shall not be mentioned] down the street. read more

Everything about our experience was fantastic. We bought downhill skis for our 15 year old son and the staff was knowledgeable, friendly and patient. The store was extremely busy and they had adequate staff so we didn't have to wait. Their product selection was vast and they didn't try to sell is the most expensive equipment. Seriously Amazing! We looked ALL over for a Thule cargo box for our vacation two days away. Couldn't find anyone to sell it anywhere and amazon was going to take a week to ship (even with prime.) We used Thule's locator tool and found that Geiger's had them (basically the only location on the west side of Cleveland.) I called and was immediately so impressed by the customer service. The gentleman who helped me was beyond any expectation of what amazing customer service is. He walked me through everything I needed to know (measurements, etc) and they had several models in stock that would fit my CRV. My husband drove over to Geiger's and he helped us pick the right one and helped us install it (no charge, something we definitely weren't expecting.) I was starting to feel like we weren't going to be able to get a box in time, and Geiger's totally pulled through. Geigers does have a good selection of well known clothing brands but that will be the only compliment I give them. I have been into this store numerous times and the customer service is horrendous and offensive. I am a business professional and would assume that I fit their target customer, but every time I'm in here I feel talked down to, rushed or belittled. I would like to support a local family owned business, but Instead I will be taking my clothing needs elsewhere and will never shop here again. read more

My experience at this store was just utterly unsatisfied . My husband and I came from out of town just trying to enjoy the city and see what it has to offer, but clearly that wasn't the case. When we entered the store, we were greeted and ask do we need help with anything but I just said no thank you we are just looking around. Another sale associate approach us and ask did we need help with anything. I told him kindly no thank you we are just looking around but in the mist of our conversation, the same lady that we encounter with said YES and became to socially profile us as we are walking in the store. Her and the gentlemen began walking around and behind as we was looking at there product but for me this is just disrespectful. I don't understand why we live in a place where we are judge off of our appearance. It's just not right and I'm letting anyone who is reading this know that this is a racist establishment and I would never recommend this to anyone. read more

Excellent men's store with in-house tailoring. Also very knowledgeable and helpful sales staff in sporting goods with good selection covering wide range of sports. We take advantage of their pre-season sale of used equipment for our kids who are growing too fast to buy new equipment for each year. read more
