I am relatively new to the whole hockey thing and my son told me he had to get his skates sharpened…read moreapparently you were supposed to avoid the arenas for this task and a friend said go to skater's edge which I did The guys that work there educated me a little bit about skate blades and the fact I wasn't coming in enough good sales pitch I think but apparently he supposed to get his skates sharpened every 6 to 8 hours I had no idea The cost to get your skates sharpened is $8 and it takes around 8 minutes as I time them. The only negative I suppose would be that you should make an appointment to get your skates sharpened when I was in there wasn't busy at all however I can see that potentially it could get pretty hairy in there as when I was leaving the states started to pile up. It's located in a nondescript strip mall next to Walgreens and unfortunately Walgreens put up a bunch of posts so you cannot get into their parking lot from Walgreens. This we've got to go around the horn to get into their lot so watch your GPS

I had a friend call ahead for me to get my skates done because I can't leave my wheels for a week. He was so very nice and accommodating. He even gave me a history lesson on my boot because I told him how a good friend made them for me from an old ice skating boot. Finding a cargo box locally is like a one legged cat covering crap on a marble floor. It isn't possible folks. None of the big box stores carry anything, unless you want it shipped. But this place? It carried the exact Yakima box I wanted and it was in stock! Reserved this box on Yakima's website and it was ready when I got there. Walked in and was instantly greeted by a nice young guy. He got my details and get this....he asked me if I wanted it installed. "How much?" I said "Absolutely free!" He said. I wanted to marry him right then and there. FREE INSTALL? Sweet mother of monkey milk....of course. He got that thing installed faster than a knife fight in a phone booth and we were on our way. We both had very…read morespecific needs: I have had recurring Achilles injuries and have bunions so finding comfortable shoes is very difficult. My daughter is rehabbing from two different ACL tears in a year and it's very important she has the proper shoes with the right fit and support while she is recovering. As others have said, the staff's knowledge is awesome. They were both incredibly helpful, patient and very detailed with the fit and our gait. While we have gotten other shoes there before, I was so pleased with their service and knowledge that I felt I had to make sure they got some credit for it by writing a review. I was really surprised by the negative reviews here, which all are based on apparently inflated pricing. For the knowledge and time they take with us, I usually don't worry about paying their "retail" price, knowing that the quality and satisfaction with my shoe offsets any slight savings I may get from a discount or big box. Not to mention we prefer to support local business when we can. So I checked the prices of both our shoes online and I could not find them any cheaper online. My daughter's pair was actually $10 less at VR than what I could find online because they gave her a student discount. I won't go anywhere else for any of my family's athletic shoe needs, they really are the best, don't let the reviews about pricing stop you from going there! And if you go and they help you find a great pair of shoes, but you are worried about the price, do a quick online search and compare. If you can find them that much cheaper online, tell them, you never know!

I ended up sending a Facebook message to Next Level and they responded right away and told me they could probably help me out, so we discussed what I needed and set an appointment for today. When we arrived the shop was clean and the owner, Lindsay, was quick to greet us. She set me up with the skates we had discussed, and after seeing my issue pulled another set of skates for me to try. She was very gracious in answering all of my questions, and swapped out the rink wheels on the skates I chose for a set of outdoor wheels in my favorite color at no charge. She chatted with me for a while after the transaction was complete and was really pleasant and informative. I will absolutely return to this shop when I'm ready for "big girl" skates, but for now I couldn't be happier with my Sure Grips. I can't wait to take them outside tomorrow!
