Back in 2020-+ I called Geiger out for services. They did a great job! Going on our past history and loyalty, I gave them a call recently to address another issue. I called on a Sunday which the service price was 2x the average price of service. They did not find what was causing the issue, i had to move items away from the outlets and he was here for a short amount of time which he seemed frustrated. (understood) I scheduled another date however, I had a family medical emergency, and my text did not go through. The bill came out to $380. I began paying it off in increments hoping that my past history showed that I was reliable and committed. I texted to ask if they had any payment plans or reduction for the missed appointment. No answer. Fast forward, and I get another bill with a late fee. I called and asked for a payment plan or a small reduction since I still had electrical issues. I was told they did not texted regarding billing and there was no payment plan nor reduction. The reason was because they did not receive the text to reschedule and their person drove all the way out. Gas prices are high, someone in the community didn't pay their whole bill and I was directed to Hands in the Community. In order to pay without the late fee, I had to pay all up in front which led me in a financial bind. I am disappointed and let down since I thought I built a customer relationship showing my commitment in paying and was treated as a fraud. I am currently looking into Hands in the Community and other companies and local community family-owned assistance and hopefully start a trusted relationship. Geiger Electric has been the best of electric companies, we have used, to do home repair work and installations. Just recently, we made an appointment to have some repairs done. Their technician, Arturo, arrived on time and proceeded to work very competently in making the repairs needed. Those repairs and installations did not happen without some excellent problem solving by Arturo. Later, he also took time to shop for for a new address box we needed and brought it back the next day for installation. Vinyl numbers had to be put on the box. .He used his measuring tools ahead of time to make sure all of the numbers were evenly spaced and in line with the other numbers before it was installed. His meticulous work was very much appreciated! We highly recommend this company and technician. read more

I had some electrical work done this week at my home. I needed some outlets replaced, so Geiger Electric came and did the work because I do not mess with electricity. It took a couple of days to make it on to their schedule. Service was fantastic and right on time. The electrician worked diligently to get my work done which I appreciated. Since I have not seen a bill, I'm not exactly sure on the final cost which I'm sure is fine based on the time of work. read more

I was referred to Geiger Electric by our HVAC service, Blankenship, and called right away, since we had a long list of issues in our home relating to electrical. Matt, the owner, came out quickly to patiently listen to our very long list of issues. I explained what we wanted, and how we wanted it. Some involved adding ceiling lighting. Some involved, problem-solving, light switches. Some involved fixing issues that had been in the home ever since it was built almost 10 years ago. Matt asked relevant questions, didn't waste time, and within a couple of days produced a specific itemized list showing an estimate for each item we talked about. We decided to move forward with about two-thirds of the items at this time and Matt scheduled the work to be done at a responsive time and in consideration of my work schedule. Tony arrived on time for our appointment, we reviewed the list together, and he got to work quickly. He finished all of the work in about 7 1/2 hours without distractions. We've had problems in the past with other businesses crew members who answer their phones, spend more time talking to others, and running off to do another job without finishing ours. In this case, that was not an issue. Tony was focused, didn't waste time, talked with me about each of the items. He was patient when I changed some details, such as the type of light cast by the bulbs to be installed. He was helpful when I tested all the work. We were very happy that everything worked the way we wanted by the time he left. And we were happy that the final bill came in about $100 less than estimated. I know we'll finish all of the items on the list later in the year, and will definitely use Geiger Electric again for that service. The business side of the service required some clarification, but I found it easy to discuss it and get it corrected. Overall we had an excellent experience, and I recommend Geiger to anyone needing, reliable, professional, and trustworthy service. read more

To respond on the owner's comments: This lady is really good at changing the story. Just one thing: you quote needs signature. Did I sign and approve your quote?? You can tell the story as whatever you want. Show us the proof that you got authorization to start the work! I should have trusted other bad reviews. I thought they may have changed. But it is not!! They will never change!! I need a correction for an electricial panel code violation. I got a quote from Geiger. I noticed the quote only covered part of the problem but not all problems. I called and shared my concerns. Matt said he would go and check again the next day to give me a more accurate quote. Please note, I did not sign or approve their quote. The next day they sent a guy to do the inspection. That guy started the work mentioned on the quote without permission!! The work performed was not correct according to another electrician! They are using wrong materials. They then notify me to charge me for that work!! I guess they will directly put a lien if you don't pay, just as mentioned by other reviewers. Be aware!! You got some unanthorized work done and they make you pay for it. Then you need to pay more to find another good guy to correct their work! read more

Update: the recent review from "Kristina S" is from someone who is associated with the business. Kristina S signed a 20 Day notice sent to me directly from Geiger. She has written a fake review to help their star ratings. Also, her profile was just created. Photo attached. I have tried to work with the owner again, but she refuses to be civil. I did request an estimate during the first visit by the Geiger technician. I have never allowed a company to complete work without asking what they'll charge. Yes, I wanted the work done, but only if I agreed to the estimate. I'm not sure who would hire a contractor without asking for a price first! The technician assured me the price would not exceed $500. At this point I moved forward with the work. I trusted him. I didn't want the owner to come to our property to discuss the issue, because I wanted everything in writing. The technician verbally told me an estimate that's why we're in the situation we're currently in. They like to do everything in person and refuse to do anything in writing. The technician should have never given me an estimate if he wasn't allowed to in the first place. He never mentioned company policy once. The owner will not honor the amount the technician told me, because he wasn't allowed to tell me pricing. She says "a verbal agreement from an employee is not an agreed upon price" this means their technicians can tell you a price to get the job, complete the job, charge you whatever they want and demand payment or take you to collections. The owner has offered payment plans, $100 off and threatened to take us to collections with late fees. The estimate was no more than $500, but the invoice is totalling $1059. $100 off brings the total bill to $959. I believe anyone in our situation would be upset. We're being charged more than double! The owner refuses to work with us. Her technician has acknowledged speaking to me about the estimate, but she doesn't care. She has called me a liar... It's been an unbelievable horrific experience!! I have NEVER dealt with such a dishonest company ever! read more

Geiger came to look at our existing front lighting surrounding our garage door, outside sensor lights (2) and a hanging light over high covered front door entry. They helped in determining the size and type of replacement fixtures required. They also recommended a couple places to obtain the new fixtures. We purchased the fixtures and they did an excellent job of installing them. They provided an estimated quote and stood by it. The owner initially came out and then then a installer came to do the installation. The workmanship was excellent! They also provided a separate design and quote to deal with a strange set up for lighting in a jack and jill bathroom, controlled by switches in 2 adjoining guest bedrooms. He and his loyal cohort, Brian, are absolutely the most qualified, most proficient, most dedicated, most professional and most competent electrical savants I've ever encountered. Whatever your electrical needs may be, these are the guys you want assessing and completing the work for your large project, or your small, dysfunctional table lamp/crazed ceiling fan issue! They respond immediately to your call. They estimate their arrival time perfectly. They show up in clean clothes and good spirits and LISTEN patiently to your long, convoluted description of what you think is wrong. Lol, that alone makes them superior electricians in my mind! In my case, they took a look at my problem (scary Tiffany lamp with a short somewhere!), then hit the road for Home Depot to procure needed items to repair. Returned promptly and hand it up and, safely, operating, all in under an hour's time! Amazing. The cost for this seamless service? Incredibly reasonable!! Unlike everyone else, my experience was not a pleasant one. We called Geiger after seeing positive reviews here and asked them to replace our light bulbs in the kitchen. We were originally given an estimate of 1 hour labor ($100) which sounded pretty reasonable. However, this turned into 3 visits (over $300). We were not happy with the bill because we believe that the work could've been completed with just one visit. The reason that they had visit for the second time was to complete the work that the first person left off because he didn't have enough replacing light bulbs. And they came for the 3rd time because some of the lights went out again after a few days. Basically, after three visits and being billed for $300 +, we were still left with lights that were not working. We ended up watching youtube tutorials and replaced them ourselves after all. We tried communicating with the owner about the bill but he didn't call us back. After contacting them on their website, they just sent us a bill saying that the owner is busy and we still owe them $300+ for 3 hours of work. I understand things do not always go smoothly and I am okay with that. But I'm not okay with not being able to contact anyone to discuss about the bill when not satisfied with the amount being charged. When things are going well, anyone can provide you with a good customer service. However, true quality of the customer service is tested when things go wrong. Are they going to be there to make things right for you when things do not work out? That's the most important quality I look for in a company. I read the good reviews on Geiger and thought they sounded like a reputable company. However, our experience has been terrible and I would not recommend them at all. Last month we requested that Geiger come and check on some open ground issues that were mentioned in our home inspection. Upon further inspection by Geiger, we were told that our house would need to be re-wired. After this visit, for the next two weeks, my husband and I contacted them several times requesting a bid and a summary of what needed to be done on our home. We were told each time that someone would get back to us, but no one ever did. And then last week we received a bill for the "service" provided. We never even received a bid for the work that would need to be done. And when my husband called to discuss this and express his disappointment, he was hung up on by Matt Geiger. We are so disappointed and frustrated that we are being charged 70$ to not have anything fixed, to not have any sort of follow up on the work that needed to be done, and then to be ignored for weeks after a repeated requests for a bid (which seems like a pretty basic task). Each time we contacted them we were told that supervisors had been out of town and that is why there was such a delay in response regarding our requests. I understand paying for a service call, but I do not understand paying for a service call when they refused to follow up and give us an sort of documentation that explains what needs to be done. When I emailed a formal complaint I was told that they had decided not to re-wire our home and that is why they did not send a bid, which is a complete lie because even on the bill that they sent, it says "will send bid." I would advise to NOT use this company and find someone more reputable. They are filled with excuses and non-truths. The customer service is terrible and our experience with them has been filled with dishonesty. UPDATE (7/23/2018) - The above review is almost exactly what I wrote to Geiger in a private emails prior to doing this public review. My emails were responded to with rudeness and lies. However, within a day of posting this public review I was contacted by Alex, a field supervisor at Geiger. He was very kind and apologized for our terrible experience and said that he wanted to make things right. He asked if he could make an appointment to take a look at the re-wiring job. We told him that we were not interested in having Geiger do work for us, but would very much appreciate our account being credited. After a few days, he was able to void the bill, and we are thankful for his service. I wish that this could've been taken care of during our private conversations, but I am glad that it was resolved and appreciate the apologetic and professional attitude of Alex. While we still do not feel comfortable using Geiger for this project, we are glad, in the end (even if it took a very negative yelp review to get them to pay attention to us) that they were able to do the right thing and not force us to pay for a service that was not rendered. read more

This is a very unethical company! We had an electrical issue and they came out to trouble shoot. Their electrician identified the issue and informed us he could temporarily fix the issue. Until they could get back out to complete the work. We asked the cost of the work and he quoted it was $70 an hour, and he wouldn't charge us for the wire because it was a temp fix. We asked if it would cost over $500 to fully fix the problem because my wife's father could fix it if it was, he just couldn't fix it that day. The electrician said it would be about $500 or a little less. We do not know Geigers company policy and a representative of their company gave us the quote we asked for. This is a verbal agreement. The work was done a week later and when we receive the bill it was over $1000 with no breakdown of the cost for material and they charged for two electricians for a one electrician job. We immediate contacted then and Shannon, the owners wife, was very rude and unprofessional in her response. She said the electricians aren't allowed to give prices because they do not know prices, only the owner can give an estimate. If their employees are poorly trained on company policy that is not the customers fault. When we stated that we would not pay over $500, then the electrician should have immediately stated let me call the office to get you an estimate, but he did not do that. This is called bait and switch. Tell the customer one thing to get the job and when you bill them double, well the owner can only tell you pricing. This is unethical business. When my wife informed Shannon we wanted a breakdown of the cost she refused to send it and said she could have the owner come out at give us a price. The work was already done! We told her we would not pay more than the $500 quoted and she threatened to send us to collections within 60 days. Two days later we received a notice stating if we don't pay within 21 days we were being sent to collections. This is very unethical and unprofessional behavior. We had the fuse that controls our A/C-heater - house fan combo unit blow. It was 110° and we were desperate. My call was returned within minutes and a tech (Matt), was here within half an hour. He did the repair, even upgraded the fuse. He was friendly, efficient, and had everything he needed. The only issue I had was that because it was an emergency I didn't have cash on hand and they don't take credit cards. I had to write a check, which now over a week later, has still not been cashed. We had a sudden loss of power on one circuit in the house and had no idea where the issue was. I called Matt Geiger mid-morning and he said he would have someone to the house by 4. Tyler, one of his electricians, showed up at 3:50. Tyler was incredibly quick and thorough and identified which switch had the issue within a few minutes. He solved that problem, identified another in the breaker in the main panel, installed a new ceiling light fixture and had everything wrapped up and back in place in under 25 minutes. Being in advertising and marketing, I have a somewhat cynical outlook towards most businesses, but Geiger Electric was a very refreshing change. The incredible customer service and professionalism demonstrated by Matt and Tyler was impressive. Unfortunate experience. Had an appointment scheduled for Wednesday to install an outlet/switch for a garbage disposal, but contractor was delayed until Thursday due to "emergency." Came by Thursday only to look at the job and quote, not to install, which was fine, just not communicated. The gentleman then said his guy would be by Friday between 9-12PM to install. On Friday at around 11:55AM after no one showed, I sent a text to find out where my installer was and a short while later I got a call from an electrician claiming 6 guys had called in sick and he was very busy. He said he'd be there by 2PM. He arrived around 2:45PM. He looked at the job and said he didn't have the parts he needed and was about to be off work and wouldn't be able to finish. He called someone I presume was at his HQ and told me they'd have someone out on Monday. I told him to forget it. I'd be taking my business to someone who values it. Pretty sad succession of events for a simple outlet/switch for a garbage disposal. read more
