Stay away from this co. They are dishonest and shady about the fees. I booked them for an annual HVAC checkup based on a quote of $125. When the technician came out, I noticed he was taking quite a long time just to check the furnace and the ground level AC unit. Then I figured out why. He was milking the clock and then claiming the annual service is charged by the hour so 2 hrs total was $250. I've never paid that much for a simple annual checkup. He didn't even put coolant in because it didn't need it. Very unscrupulous, go elsewhere for your HVAC needs. read more

I just want to say that McGee's has been absolutley amazing! I had a crazy issue with my new heater. It was literally sending off an explosion and a flame coming out the top of my heater/Air conditioner every time it would ignite. They came out right away when I called, to take care of it. Since it is a newer unit with apparently alot of california restrictions etc. they were still learning about these units. Brendan and Gary and ALL of the staff at Mcgee's were amazing. They have figured it all out and it is now working how it should and I can not express how greatful I am to them for doing so. My family has used McGee Refrigeration for decades with their heating and cooling needs at their home. I had my first personal experience with them this winter when my home's heater stopped working. They quickly found and replaced the broken motor and did it for about $150 less than one of their competitors wanted to charge. Also their competitor charged me $78 just to come give me a bid on the work, whereas McGee sent out a friendly technician for free to come check things out and give me a bid. On top of all this they were very easy to schedule an appointment with, the technician came out the next day, and I even got a call from the owner when the work was done making sure I was satisfied with the process. Called McGee on a Saturday at 12:30 PM and their technician, Brendon, was able to squeeze me in and got here by 3:45 PM the same day!!! I gave them 1 star as they did respond quickly to my request for service but would STRONGLY recommend to never use this company. I am sharing an email I sent to the owner that explains why I say this. Lana, I just wanted to let you know how disappointed I am in the dishonesty of your company. You sent a service person out to evaluate the air conditioning unit on our rental in Visalia. You gave me one estimate in the amount of $2,574.45 to replace the compressor, condenser fan motor and change out the refrigerant. It was explained to me by the service person that all of these were necessary. You charged me $147.50 for this evaluation which I thought was a little exorbitant but I went ahead & paid it. You then sent me another estimate for $9,295.36 to replace the whole unit. It was explained to me that due to how much was wrong with the unit it would be best to just replace it. Unfortunately (or I guess I should say fortunately) our home warranty insurance would not recognize your estimate & authorize the repairs so I had to wait until one of their "approved" companies could come out & check it. Once that company checked the unit they said the condenser fan motor was indeed not working & needed to be replaced. They said the compressor could not be checked until the fan was replaced as that was a necessary element for the compressor to run. They replaced the fan motor and now everything is working just fine. I have owned my own business now for 28 years and I always treat my customers with complete honesty and fairness. It is disappointing to know that there are companies like yours out there that try and take advantage of their customers. You have lost my business & probably a lot more from other customers as I will do my best to warn others of your ways. We had a 31 year old system that died in our upper level of our home. McGee guys came up and spent 3 days completely replacing the air handler and outside compressor and all associated equipment. Access was a major issue in the attic area and they handled it beautifully. Very professional service and attitude, and they cleaned up everything. Then a month later our lower (5 ton) unit started acting up and they repaired that also. Will always use them in the future. read more

Over the years, I have used various HVAC companies. Being somewhat disappointed in the past company, McGee Refrigeration was recommended to me. I decided to give them a try with an annual service agreement for 2023. I called and was scheduled promptly. I have 2 units for my home and the tech came out and serviced them. Upon inspection, one of my units was near failure (drawing double amperage). I knew this day was inevitable as it was a 23 year old unit. They offered great pricing and it was explained what to expect. On install day, Troy and Carmello arrived (at the stated time) and spent 2 days completing the install. They took time to check all existing ductwork and make sure everything was perfect. They were respectful of our property and when they left, everything was cleaned up well. More importantly, throughout the process the communication from office staff to technicians was exceptional! It's nice to have a local company that understands good value and service. read more

I have to say the technicians that have been to our house have been wonderful. Their billing is dishonest. First time I used them they charged me for an extra half hour, which was incorrect, I was able to have the bill corrected. Recently they charged for 1.5 hours again ,now they say its for travel time. No where on my statement does it say for travel time nor did they say they charge for travel time when I booked the appointment. And Elsa or Elsie was very rude. I will NEVER use them again. That was an extra $47.50 for 15 minutes of travel time. read more

Our heater stopped working on one of the coldest days of the year. We called McGee Refrigeration and they came over within 1 hour. Turns out we needed a part which they ordered same day and returned the following day to install. It seems that there is always a running to do list when you have a rental property. This past July I called around to a few different air conditioning companies to see about having our AC unit serviced. It was in one of those conversations with Lana at McGee Refrigeration that she informed me about a twice a year unit service that they offer to rental properties. I learned that they will set up and service the unit before summer and winter. McGee will keep track of service dates and take care of scheduling the visit with the tenant and let me know before and after how it went! Lana was an absolute delight and so friendly! My tenant was not the easiest person to schedule a service time with but McGee Refrigeration just asked my tenant when a good time for her would be be. She said Friday at 3:00, they said, "Perfect, we will be there!" This is after my tenant had avoided phone calls and canceled visits planned the day before. Since it was the first time having this company service our unit I wanted to be there and I also wanted to use the opportunity as an inspection at the property. Tucker and Alan were prompt, professional, considerate, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond just servicing the AC unit at our rental property. They answered questions in a manner that made it simple to understand and made sure I was aware of service that had been done on the unit before was noted. The two were there for about an hour and I was thankful they didn't find anything wrong or needing repair with the unit but actually added some insulation to a line and taped up some wires that were exposed on the unit outside...no extra fees other than the original reasonable amount agreed to in our contract...Winning! We LOVED McGee Refrigeration! We bought a fixer upper and needed to get the air conditioning unit looked at as well as our vents. They came out super quick and the guy was so knowledgeable! Not trying to sell me anything. He went up on the roof to look at the unit, came down and showed me out unit: it was FILTHY. He said he would clean it for us for $5. What?! It looked to much better! I would give this place 10 stars if I could. While on vacation, our rental property AC unit quit working. This was during a major heat wave with temperatures upwards of 108 plus. After calling almost everyone on the list from Google, and being told the wait time was 3-5 days, I finally got in touch with Lana at McGee. I explained the situation that our renters had been without AC for almost two days and they had a baby in the house and we were willing to put them up in a motel, but if she had any openings we would appreciate it very much. This lady was truly a godsend. She somehow worked magic and within a few hours had a technician headed out to our rental and they found out the problem and had it fixed in no time at all. I cannot say enough about Lana or the rest of the crew. This was a weekend job, one which I was out of town but able to monitor my cooling system through my alarm to find it was not working properly. And the worst thing, I have pets. So if it went out, I was going to be in a very bad situation. I called many companies. My normal company never ever called me back. I updated their review on her. Lana was the first person to make contact with me, understood the situation and the possible outcome, and new how important my pets are to me so she and her worker/husband the on call duty tech for the weekend went to fix the cooler before I even got home from Las Vegas. Their first priority was to make sure my pets were not in any danger. Never was there talk about money until it was due. They invoiced me and I paid them immediately. You cannot find such wonderful people who work hard and have the ethics they do. The same thing happened to me before and including labor the price was close to $850. This with sunday hours including part was $329. BIG DIFFERECE. I knew I was getting ripped off the year before but because it was so hot and everyone was so busy I had to do what the tech told me. Take it or leave it. (Let's say I will NOT be using them again) They worked with me, kept me informed and were absolute easy to deal with and cared very much about my pets, my air conditioner and me as a person in general. Thank you so much Lana for you and your team. You guys are awesome. I am going to call you to do all my servicing, Grant's lost a customer and their look of integrity which was not so good looking in the first place. Thanks again for everything!
