* I've had Geico Auto Insurance for 21 years now, & in that time they've never paid an accident claim in my behalf. * But 3 weeks ago I accidentally scratched a parked car at the grocery store & waited for the owner to return from shopping to alert them. * It was a tiny rear bumper scratch & barely perceptible unless you were specifically trying to find it. * Anyway today I received my Geico bill & it basically doubled from $53 monthly to $99.90 per month. * I later spoke to the Geico representative & he was impatient with no explanation or valid reason for the major increase. * I'm a little taken back that after 21 years of paying ever-increasing premiums to Geico (with no accidents), that they doubled my monthly payments the first time I actually used their insurance service, for a minor scratch. * Needless to say I did not get a comfortable, confident or warm & fuzzy feeling from the stern customer service handling of this issue. read more

I was told to call a California GEICO and I could talk to a Geico representative... it all started when I called Geico's toll-free number to make my payment on the eighth instead of the 28th. They said no problem I called. They said all of our representatives are busy and go online and make your payment which I did never before I have I done that, but I did it..I called GEICO afterwards to see if I did it right they said yes, it did not show any bank account or nothing. It just said pay premium and that's what I did ...five days later I get an email saying that my GEICO was canceled because of no payment and I called and I said why my money was there. They said they tried to pull it and it wasn't and I said my money was there. They said your Chase account I said that account has been closed for three years. She did a little review and she said I'm sorry it's our fault but there's nothing I can do about it. She said I'll transfer you to somebody that can take care of it ..after a days of trying and being on hold then somebody came on the phone and said you pay $70 and then we can reinstate your insurance well I paid that they transferred me and I was on hold for hours, one time 2 1/2 hr I couldn't believe it over and over that's what happened to me then they said if you can contact somebody in your area that works for GEICO they should be able to help you. Well I called this agent on Lincoln. I was on hold for a long time too for two days I tried ...all this time I was without insurance. I couldn't believe this was happening to me. I had Geico for a long time and the representatives had acknowledge it was their fault. I was very disappointed very disappointed. I couldn't understand how this happened. That changed this week when I got into a car accident and tried to file a claim -- only to be told my policy had been canceled on the 1st of the month due to non-payment. The worst part? I had no idea it was canceled. Turns out my credit card didn't process the payment in time, and GEICO tried once, failed, and then quietly dropped me without ever reaching me. I had recently updated my contact information, but GEICO never properly saved the update. Instead, they sent all cancellation notices to an old address and outdated email -- and never called, never texted, never followed up. Now I'm on the hook for everything. They're denying the claim and saying it's my responsibility, even though their own rep failed to update my info. LESSON: Do NOT assume your insurance will warn you if something goes wrong. These big companies won't call you, won't try more than once, and won't lift a finger to fix their errors. Double-check your profile. Confirm your email, phone, and mailing address are correct. Set calendar reminders for your premium due dates. Don't rely on auto-pay alone -- it's not a guarantee. This mistake set me back big time, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Two complaints. One is they're charging me $400 more every six months as my wife hit another vehicle that backed into her. Took her two-three months to have her vehicle repaired and looking at the pictures taken at the body shop, she had incurred more damage. She then turned in a claim for a bad back some months later and if Geico didn't pay, she would sue. Geico paid her off. They said that no one backs into someone and that my wife had to have hit her. Geico does not stand up for their customers. Secondly I recently deleted the Geico app in my phone due to having to get a code each and every time I try to access the app. Geico says that now everyone must get a code. I'm so glad I called and got the opportunity to speak with Isabel because she recommended a collision deductible waiver with which I was not familiar which only costs a little more per month and based on her experience she said it's really good to have. She helped pick out a plan that is right for us and let us know that if we ever need to change our plan that we can always add on or remove coverage based on our needs. I feel like we are in good hands with Isabel because of her knowledge and I highly recommend her if you need to speak with a helpful insurance agent. Ricardo Ayala was super helpful helping us get an auto policy going for our daughter. It was not convenient for her to deal directly with Ricardo over the phone because of certain logistical details related to a 14 day coronavirus quarantine (she isn't sick, but has to stay quarantined because she recently returned to the US from Peru!), so Ricardo went through the detailed process of getting me certified to act as a third party on her behalf, and he was very patient as we worked through a number of details where I would have to ask my daughter a question and then speak to him on her behalf.
