I liked it so much I actually went here twice! They have seating inside, as well as some seating on the street and facing the canal. I snagged a canal seat both times and loved it. Both times I went in the afternoon and the cafe was not busy, but even if I had needed to wait for a seat it would have been worth it. They have some good food options, including some open-faced sandwiches. The vibe is charming, the service was courteous, and I loved getting to sit and sip some sparkling wine while watching the world go by in the canal. I would absolutely return here next time I'm in Amsterdam.

The atmosphere inside this cafe/bar in De Pjip, feels cool and very local. Good music (mostly English and American tunes with some jazz thrown in) and they also have Bob, the pub cat, who skulks around searching for a warm spot to snooze. We loved it so much for drinks, we decided to come back for food. It was quite early so ordered a sharing plank, stroke of genius I might add. Five dishes chosen by the chef in the style of tapas. We had four slices of rare steak in peppercorn sauce (stand out dish for us cooked perfectly), Dutch sausage sliced, prawns in tomato sauce, Filo parcel stuffed with vegetables and goat cheese with honey and walnuts. All for 17 euros between two and was well worth it. Do visit this place if you come to Amsterdam on holiday, it's off the tourist track and such a great find.

This was really the only place we ate at in Amsterdam that we felt like was frequented by locals rather than tourists. We dined outside and it was a nice night so that worked out just great. My husband had the calamari and he especially enjoyed the lemon aïoli that came with it. I had the salad and it was excellent. I loved the dressing and the grapes and it just worked. My son had cheese sticks which he thoroughly enjoyed. We finished with the apple pie, which everyone enjoyed and my son said was his favorite thing he ate the whole trip. Overall, it was a really cute and cozy place with great food and a local feel.

The omelette was fine but doused in lots of cheese. The saving grace, the coffee was good as we found most cafes in Europe had good coffee. We walked by this place several times during our stay, since our hotel was in Rembrandt Square, and it was usually a happening place in the evenings. Nice place to grab a drink.
