I am writing this review to warn EVERYONE to beware of this jeweler! Avoid walking in front of his…read moredoor, let alone consider entering his "establishment"! On April 4th, I went to Taylor's Jewelry as I had some fairly expensive pieces that I needed appraised, so I could make an educated decision on whether to insure them or sell them. Once I entered, only one man was visible. He said hello, but did not even bother to stand and greet me. I informed him that I required a certified geologist, at which time he called to the back, and a second person appeared.
After explaining that I had several pieces, I asked if they needed me to schedule an appointment. He asked to see what I had, and I reached into my computer case a took out a 3 carat man's gold ring. He studied it with his monocle and asked what I intended to do with this piece of jewelery. I replied that I wasn't sure yet, and his attitude immediately became confrontational. We all heard horror stories of smaller jewelers low balling the value of a piece, if they think you are selling it to them! I reiterated that I just needed to know an approximate value of the piece, when he stated, "I can't tell you that until you tell me what you intend to do with it."
What difference does it make, as far as what I ultimately decide to do with my belongings. The value of the piece is the value of the piece! After he insisted, for the third time, that I tell him if I was keeping it or selling, I responded, "I'm about to put my things away and leave your store!"
He immediately stood up and said, THEN LEAVE! He abruptly walked back toward his office, putting distance between us, turned and said, "You're a asshole, and everyone in this city knows it" I asked him WHAT he just said, as I was shocked by his ignorance! He repeated it and continued by saying, Even your wife thinks you're an asshole. It was all i could do to keep from jumping over the counter and bitch slapping this guy, because my wife and I were as close as two people could be but unfortunately the good Lord took her from me a couple of years ago. I laughed in his face, then allowed my dago to take over. I filled his store with a barage of expletives, and finished by informing him that my wife was DEAD! He insisted that she wasn't, so I gave him the date, and told him to look it up on the internet! He entered his office, did not close the door, and once again let his ignorance show! Now loud enough to be heard, he let's "f*cking dickhead" cross his lips! Well thank God there were no ladies present, as he got a 30 second dissertation as to why his store was completely empty on a busy Saturday morning.
I'm 68, and am very well established in my community, and I "think" that I am well liked. I've owned my own companies since I was 23 years old, and I have NEVER treated any of my customers with this kind of disrespect. All I can hope for is that you join with me, to boycot this type of business within the City of Solon. Find it within yourselves to choose another jeweler, as this kind of attitude cannot be tolerated. We can all enter his store when he has his 70% off, going out of business sale.
