I am not the most mechanically inclined so when they told me they needed to replace the ball joints I said okay. I couldn't afford the $1000 upfront so they financed me. I qualified for $1600 and Rick made sure they got me for every single penny. They ripped me off on the parts. They wouldn't give me a print out of what I was being charged for. Colorado Tires have a $10 off coupon for alignments at this place, so I called them while I was getting the new tires from my husband truck. The receptionist was very friendly. I told her my name and vehicle basic Information on the phone and she told me to bring the truck anytime that day. As soon as I entered the office, she called me by my name. That's a very personalized customer service! The process went all smooth and they did the alignment in around 20 minutes. They have a nice waiting room with snacks and modern/comfortable sofas. Read this before you take you car here! I had my clutch worked on at this "business" and it lasted less less than 26,000 miles. I had the slave cylinder, the master cylinder, and the clutch kit all "replaced." Supposedly, the new clutch kit Rick installed was replaced with an even a newer one the second time (of 4 times) I had to have my car towed there for clutch issues. These shop visits were all strung out on separate transactions over many months. This worked out really neat for Rick because he was able to charge more labor each time he had to take everything apart and remove things so he could get to the components. From my standpoint, it is unconscionable to not just replace everything initially, or at least discuss with the customer in good faith to address all components when he had complete access. The car was 18 years old. The individual parts are relatively cheap but the labor to redress and access the clutch issues just keeps mounting. Also, I wound up visiting the shop and having towing and no car not to mention being stranded several more times. The car was 18 years old at the time the first clutch issue arose so it would have been something I believe a man with "25 years of experience" should have known. I actually think he does know better and that is why he gets so defensive and physically confrontational when asked legitimate questions. The second time I went to pick up my car after "service," it barely made it to the stop light in front of his establishment. It had to be manually pushed back to his shop and I was informed by Rick he "was afraid that might happen." He proceeded to let me know he would need to work on the master cylinder and the labor just to take it all apart to get access was going to be significant. He got upset when I asked why he didn't just replace it while he had access and I was told "I am trying to save you money brother." This most recent time I got stranded and had my car towed to Geared Up, was the kicker. Rick walked up and asked me what the car was doing. I stated the clutch was sticking like it had the previous 3 occasions. Without looking at the odometer or his records, he said "Well, it's out of warranty." I then stated I don't drive this car much and he said that it was not his fault how I drove the car. I bought this car in 2004 with 16,000 miles on it and it had the same factory clutch until Geared Up "worked on it." When he looked up my miles since service it had gone 26,000 since he last "worked" on the car. After he looked up the mileage he called me a liar and said "get the F out of my shop." I asked what I had lied about and his wife said he was trying to tell me. I proceeded to walk away and turned to say I couldn't just leave because I had the car towed there. Rick approached me coming out from behind the counter with his fists clinched and got up in my face. I asked if he was going to take a swing. His wife ran over and asked If I would leave. I said I was, I wanted to state my car was not drivable. She said I had "One F'ing hour to get off their property." I said I would leave as soon as I could secure towing and they had better not do anything further. Rick paced around behind her while rolling up his sleeves and other childish antics. Although they are both not nice people, I was actually embarrassed for his wife. Bottom line, my car went to Jeremy's in Pueblo West and I got everything replaced with a 3 year 36,000 warranty. While fixing my car, they showed me where my Transmission was cracked and there was multiple cross threading into it, most likely causing the stress. I will leave it to you the reader to decide if this was from haste or vindictiveness from the prior clutch work. Geared Up is the only shop that ever addressed my clutch prior. This resulted in having to replace what was a perfectly good transmission in addition to all new correct clutch work. Rick, if you decide to respond to this, I have read many of your reviews. You might consider better utilizing your time to learn business ethics and possibly some basic spelling. Our, is possessive, not are. And again, their is the possessive, not there. I just feel a guy shouldn't be so bad at business, a trade, and spelling all at the same time! Oh, and please keep invoking the Lord and calling customers "Brother." Since May of this year (2023) I've spent over $1,500 at this shop for work on my 1/2-ton Silverado, to include: ball joints, tune-up, transfer case oil, engine oil change, tire rotation, etc. Yesterday I took it in for engine oil change and tire rotation. On my way to the shop I noticed that the right rear tire had significantly lower air pressure than the other three tires, as indicated by the tire air pressure sensing system. This morning, I noticed that the right rear tire was still showing low pressure just as it was before the rotation. Clearly, after rotation, the tire with the low pressure couldn't have been in the right rear position, which led me to conclude that the guys simply forgot to reset the air pressure sensing system to indicate the new position of that tire on the vehicle. I took the truck back to the shop this afternoon and asked Rick to kindly reset the sensing system for me, a task which I consider a part of tire rotation. In a terse, unpleasant, and take it or leave it manner, Rick said that resetting the tire sensing system is not included in the price of a tire rotation and that it would cost me an additional $45 to have it done. So I did a bit of research to see if that's the way other auto mechanic shops in Pueblo handle the tire pressure sensors resetting issue. I called the following five shops; they all told me that resetting the system is a part of their tire rotation service, as I anticipated: Walmart, Noricks, Meineke, Jeremy's Garage, and T's Automotive. This place ripped me off! Caused damage to my vehicle by not installing the control arms correctly. I was then treated HORRIBLY BY RICK (THE OWNER) who yelled at me, argued with me, and was so entirely beyond being a decent business owner - he was a horrible human being. I am a woman, with no clue what goes on under that hood- and I trusted this business, the people who run it and the employees to do their job and I am safe. Not the case here. Signed a paper for oil change and air filter change for 55$ Then after car was done got a bill for double and when we questioned the price increase a woman with horse teeth galloped upfront and pretty much cussed us out for questioning why we were getting changed double after signing a contract for half. Even lied to make herself right. You could tell she has never admitted to being wrong in her life. She would have done anything to prove us wrong instead of listening to why we had an issue. If we would have argued any longer she would have pinned us down and made us say we were wrong!They ended up changing all filters instead of air filters. Rick, at Geared Up, installed an electrical fuel pump over my vehicle's (supposedly) dead mechanical fuel pump for a whopping $400 (subsequent mechanics quoted me +/-$220, incl. labor + new parts, to fix his mistake). This "repair" did not alleviate my stalling problem (my car broke down again, hours later), but would have gradually caused permanent damage to my engine (as bypassing the fuel regulator, as Geared Up had, was flooding the crankcase with fuel and diluting the oil). Upon inspecting my still-broken vehicle after Geared Up's repair, a mechanic down the road (who was familiar with Geared Up's shoddy work) got on the phone with Rick to convince him to uninstall his juryrigged electrical pump and actually replace the (possibly) defective mechanical pump, per common sense. Upon arriving at Geared Up the following day, I was advised that Rick was "doing [me] a favor" (as opposed to correcting his own mistake), and that I should have utilized their warranty's tow service if I had problems afterward. I was subsequently threatened with being removed from their garage for disputing the quality of their workmanship. Rick and his wife (the "manager") both insisted that they had provided me with the option of installing the correct, mechanical fuel pump in the first place (which is unture: upon the electrical pump's arrival on 'Day 1, Repair 1,' Rick announced - with surprise - "huh, it's electrical," and I duly consented to installing it, as he had not indicated there would be any problem with it). After my first, totally unnecessary argument with Rick about his erroneous claim - and his wife's behavior - he uninstalled the electrical pump and installed a new mechanical one. When the car, again, broke down an hour later, I attempted to utilize their warranty's tow service, which their manager had tersely recommended earlier. It turned out, the tow would not be free, but reimbursable upon the determination that the work or newly installed part had been faulty. When I called Rick, from the roadside, to ask about the tow, he insisted that the conditions of the tow service had been disclosed at the point of payment and that it was, furthermore, my fault that my car didn't work, because I'd "bought a 30-year-old car that probably sat in a field." When I asked why he didn't, then, fix it with the $400 I gave him, he said it was probably something "stuck in the fuel lines" or "rust in the gas tank." He then said that "all [I] want to do is argue," and repeatedly stated that I was a "whiney little bitch." I declined to respond with similar vulgarities, as doing so - in addition to being rude - is actually illegal in the state of Colorado. Once I had finally found a competent mechanic, it was determined that a faulty carburetor was interrupting fuel delivery and causing my vehicle to stall - nothing at all to do with the fuel lines or gas tank, as Rick had angrily suggested. This has been an accurate accounting of my experience with Geared Up Automotive, during which I was overcharged, lied to, sworn at and threatened with removal from their business... and, oh yeah, my car was never fixed. read more

Where I took my car before the gentleman passed away so took it here. I was given an estimate of $470 for a tune up. I was then told I 1 coil was bad so I needed to replace all 8 at $62 each and $575 for brakes and rotors. When I said I only wanted the tune up and 1 coil Rick said he knew what he was talking about and all the coils would fail and my brakes would start scratching. I again said the tune up and the coil, he got pissed when I wouldn't do the upsale and hung up. I called back to find out when it would be done and his wife was rude saying they haven't even started yet and I would get a call. When I picked it up, I asked tor an itemized statement and was told I couldn't have it until after I paid. It was $567 I still can't figure how 470 and 62 add up to 567. Rick continued to tell me l was hateful and rude, when all I wanted was to see what I was paying for. I asked for my used parts, after he handed them to me he said get out and never come back you fucking bitch. I was cheated and treated horribly. Please don't put yourself thru this. Excellent service! Friendly, helpful staff! Affordable labor and fast service! I was very anxious about which local mechanic shop to see and so I did my homework by calling around. Rick is very knowledgeable and I really have to point out that he is very approachable. I want to feel like my mechanic is actually listening and taking into account my thoughts and feedback. I was not disappointed at all. Went back the next week to have something else taken care of and had another excellent experience. Also, it is very cool that they offer financing. The folks at Geared Up are not good people. We have taken our cars there several times, because we had friends that worked there. The work was subpar at best, but top dollar was paid. Rick will tell you something is wrong with your vehicle, making it sound like you are entering a death trap the next time you start the engine. He will then tell you it cost upwards of $2200, when you tell him you don't have that, he will give you care credit. When you don't get that, he will say "Well, we can get you through with 'fill in the blank' for $1300". "Nope, we don't have that either, we're coming into the holidays". "Ok, ok, the bare minimum will be $400, you don't want to be driving your kids around in that"- pretty direct quote. Pay the $400, work is shoddy, take it over to Southwest Motors mechanics everything is fixed perfectly, for 30% of what Rick quoted. They have ZERO value for their employees, though touting a "family" business. They think that allowing a week to grieve the unexpected death of your mother to be plenty. By far the best car repair shop I have ever dealt with! I brought my 2000 eldorado in because the water pump belt broke on the hi-way. With in a few minutes they had the problem diagnosed and an estimate for repairs. Their prices are fair and they work quick. I was back on the road in a few hours. My wife liked that the waiting area was decorated with a woman's touch but still very automotive themed. I have a rare car that the dealer was unable to diagnose and fix, After years of not knowing what to do I tried Geared up and they found the problem (s) within hours and advised me of the best options, The dealer told me it needed a new engine but they had it running great within a couple days.
