I work a night shift so I live in nightlife. I am 100% current on payments yet because I stayed later than 11:00 p.m. they are kicking me out and holding my stuff ransom. They said I have one week to get things out then leave the facilities close so I can't get in. and locked my gate code out. They say I can get my stuff during normal business hours just Check in at the office but will not answer the phone or the door and refused to let me in to get my stuff. They now state I have till 5:00 p.m. today to get out yet won't even let me in to get my stuff. Please whatever you do if you value your stuff don't use this facility.

Someone there clearly needs to learn about conflict resolution…read more Last night (5/09/20), I went in at about 10:30pm to pick up an item from my unit. On my way out, I'm blocked by two other guys in trucks and I think little of it so I choose a different route to the gate. Next thing I know, I'm blocked in front and in back. I manage to get around the guy in front of me and head to work. I probably could have stayed and asked what was going on, but that late at night and being blocked in by two people? Shady as hell, and I didn't want to be late to work anyways. Next thing I know, I'm getting a call from the lady working there at the time, nearly screaming at me to "come down here and resolve this" and LITERALLY NO OTHER DETAILS provided. I asked what it was that I did wrong as all I did was pick up my drain snake only to have her say along the lines of "don't play dumb, we know what you did, we have you on camera". No matter how many times I try to tell her that all I did was get one item from my unit and go, she kept to her guns, accusing me of SOMETHING, but absolutely refusing to tell me what it was. She threatened me originally with saying I had 7 days to get my stuff out, only to have her escalate that to having up to Monday; I was keeping my cool, I didn't badmouth her or anyone so in my opinion, there was no need to take that so heavy-handed. I told her I was on my way back and would like to view the camera footage to see what it was I did and she said she wouldn't review it with me. At this point, I asked if I needed to get the police involved and if this was some sort of extortion, she said go ahead and quickly hung up on me. I get there and of course the lights are off. One of the guys who tried blocking me was nearby so I talked to him. Turns out to be a big misunderstanding with him having some of his stuff stolen by someone he shared his unit with and thinking I was the getaway driver, which wouldn't make sense since the person he was victimized by would have been seen in my truck, right? Right. But hey, accidents happen and he was cool. He agreed to help me clear things up with the lady so I don't have to move out. I tried calling her back and she hangs up immediately before I could even say hi. I try again as he rings the doorbell, I get to her and explain that he and I are out there and would like to clarify things with her but she initially refused to come to the door as she felt unsafe in doing so (for the mess that she was the main contributor in). I get her on speakerphone and the guy managed to get her to come out so we can explain that I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. But because of this mess, I was 15 minutes late to work, when normally I'm a good 20 minutes early. To add to this, I'm given a weak apology and a "you can badmouth me all you want but please don't do it in front of others!" I honestly wasn't considering it at first, but here we are now. Guy, if you're out there, you're cool in my book. But Melissa? Melinda? I forget, but I think it was an "M" name though and my phone didn't record that call- if you're going to accuse someone of something, at least bring something solid to the table to accuse them of, and FFS, actually review the cameras and don't threaten the customers with eviction (for lack of better word) over something YOU CLEARLY DIDN'T HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION ON. Other than that, I think the service is fair and the grounds are clean. Everyone else I've talked to (what few I have, anyways) have been great. Side note: I actually do live in Caldwell, ID, not San Francisco, CA like the profile says, fwiw.

When you call you get an attitude that if ya don't like the price move but they remind ya how hard it is to move. Guess what my outside RV spot has never been raised, why? Because it's one item and you can move right away if they raise the rate. StorageMart will give you the typical excuse of market demand while they rent to a new customer for 25% less.

He was called up for a deployment with short notice so he packed up his belongings and answered the call. Unfortunately, he was injured (physically and emotionally) during his tour. He returned to Michigan to recover. Every month, for over 20 YEARS, he would call the facility, speak to a nice lady for upwards of 20 minutes about her day and pay his bill. Sadly, she informed him of her retirement and the change of ownership. This is when everything went downhill. He decided it was time to make the trip back to Idaho to finally close out the out-of-sight, out-of-mind bit from his past. We flew from Michigan, rented a massive UHaul, and arrived to the facility. We were met by two individuals who, upon first greeting, were wildly unhelpful. We informed them that he was unable to track down the unit's keys after all of these years (and not to mention a recent house fire) so we would need bolt cutters. Their response: "Due to liability, it is against our policy to permit bolt cutters on the premises. We have 'a guy' who can cut the lock but he may be able to get to it later tonight." I offered an alternative solution. Aside from being a veteran, I am firefighter. I am not opposed to asking a local department for a favor with their assistance in gaining access. They were quick to say that was also not permitted. When we went back to his unit, it was discovered that his lock had previously been removed and a different style lock had been placed. Without an explanation, one of the individuals took a master key and unlocked the unit. I was enraged. He was never informed that his unit had the lock removed nor replaced by the new company's lock. After a full day of emptying the unit, we had a single box of trash (mostly sweat rags and Gatorade bottles) that needed to be discarded. We checked in with the office to inform them that he had completed the task and asked where they moved the dumpsters, since they were no longer up front. The individuals again were unhelpful, saying there were no longer dumpsters on site and it was his responsibility to remove all waste. They offered a solution for my SO to drive the 20-ft UHaul across a 4 lane road into a private apartment complex to dump the trash into their dumpsters. Again, I was enraged. He had this unit longer than one of these individuals were alive. It was clear that this was the most authority and power these two people had managed thus far in their lives. When two veterans travel across the nation to empty a storage unit that has been in good standings for over 20 YEARS, possibly, maybe, consider some customer service, instead of the scripted response of "No, that's our policy. We could lose our jobs." Abridged Version: This company, without informing the customer, replaced his lock with their own, then had piss-poor customer service from start to finish. Not only will we never use Stor-It Self Storage again, but we have vowed to stay clear of Idaho in its entirety. The experience had that much of an impact.

The summer of 2021, I phoned Highway 44 Storage for availability and rates for a RZR. Based on the…read moreunit sizes they had, I determined I needed a 10' x 10' unit with roll down door. They did not currently have one available, but put me on the wait list and quoted a price of $70/mo. Within 2 weeks or so, I got the call a 10' x 10' unit was available. When we took the RZR to the storage facility, found out not only had the price gone up to $75/mo. from 2 weeks prior, there was an administrative fee of $25. OK, not a deal breaker, but wish this had been disclosed previously. My surprise was when we tried to put the RZR in the unit. We could barely get the door closed as it scraped the back of the RZR. Upon measuring the unit it was actually, 9' 10'"W x 8'9" D. I called later to schedule appointment with the owner to show him the discrepancy. Long story short, the owner would not talk to me on the phone or meet with me. The message back to me was "take it, or leave it, we have a wait list". Overall, a nice facility, but I would not do business here again. I don't appreciate being misled, then treated as though my business did not matter.
