The three of us really enjoyed our at-home dinner of fried cod and chips, fried squid (amazing how tender it is), two pasties, and a sausage roll. I preferred the curry pasty and its tangy curry sauce to dip, but the Cornish pasty was definitely good too. I felt the sausage in the sausage roll was too bland, but my son and brother liked it. The fried fish and squid stayed nice and crisp despite the drive home, and even the refrigerated leftovers were crispy the next day. That's a big plus. GB is skimpy with the malt vinegar, so if that's what you like you may want to order extra. However, this fish is good enough without anything. The chips are what we would call steak fries, and they're very good. The tartar sauce, brown sauce, and hot mustard were all fine. YES you order your food, drinks at the counter, and once they are done cooking, they call your name. You pick up your food from the other side of the counter etc etc. For that evening, and from what I can recall these were what the group ordered : * Fish & Chips with Baked Beans * Pasties * Curry * Bangers * Sheperds Pie * Combination As for me, I ordered half Cod and curry. LOVED IT! The COD, came out piping hot, and I like the curry too. Still trying to figure out what they put in the CURRY. Hint, hint, please make the CURRY EXTRA SPICY for me, or at least offer EXTRA, EXTRA SPICY Curry for those who likes to have their food SPICY. Was craving some fish 'n chips, but I wanted something different from LJS or Captain D's. Some searching on Yelp led me to GB which was on the way to work. I got the half order of fish, chips (fries), and coleslaw. The portions were more than enough. The cook forgot to make my fries, so he quickly prepared some and threw in extra fries and curry as a bonus. The fish was light, crispy, and delicious. The batter wasn't too heavy on it. However, something seemed to be off with the coleslaw. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it seemed there was not enough dressing to go with the cabbage. The big downside, in my opinion: The amount of tartar sauce you get is the same size as the condiment cups at Arby's. I didn't feel like waiting in line for more, so I had to live with the malt vinegar. The employees seemed to be enjoying the busy environment. My wife & I have been coming here for years. The fish is always piping hot and fresh-tasting, never "fishy" or off. The hand-cut fries likewise are always piping hot, crispy and golden-brown the exact way i like 'em, and they obviously change the oil daily. Other food options I've tried were delish but i usually get the cod. Staff are always friendly. I can't recall ever having had a complaint. I've never used the toilet here but I just checked and the men's is clean, well-lit, has everything, well-ventilated and smells good. We've been to the Broadway location many many times, so I wasn't expecting to be surprised. The location itself was strikingly different because it sits across from Sloan's Lake. We got there at sunset (cuz we're old) and sat on the patio in November (cuz it's Colorado, duh). The inside was also different. Instead of feeling like you're in a dark, English pub, it's a little brighter and more open than the other location. Like always, we ordered too much so my hubby has lunch the next day. We had the cod, shrimp, Clam Chowder and Shepherds Pie. It was the first time I'd tried the Pie and couldn't recommend it more. Packed full of flavor! I stopped in here for a quick lunch during a workday and it was super fast dollar tilapia Tuesday and the most beautiful view of the Denver skyline across Sloans lake! If that wasn't good enough, Klair who placed my order was a true gem! Outstanding customer service which is very hard to fine and greatly appreciated now days. Since it was my first time and she recommended basically all of the great items on the menu and I ordered the special! Stick with the original location on Broadway. I had a Living Social coupon and for some reason it could only be used at the Edgewater location. So I decided to enjoy fish and chips and look out on the lake. I'm glad there was a patio table, because the inside of this location feels very cramped, and the way the football shirts are draping down from hangers makes it feel even more cramped. The patio is very nice, but it can only be used a few months of the year. The food is just as tasty and I'd put that at 4 stars. I'm always surprised when I read reviews or hear people talk about the food at GB. I'm not sure what everyone is expecting from a chippy! The issues seem to be about price, portion and the chips (fries). The price seems to be appropriate for the fish they are serving, and I also don't see anything wrong with the portion, I think the half portion is more than enough, and the normal portion in most chippies abroad. It's actually a proper serving of fish, about 3-4oz and the fries are ample... That leads me to the next issue I've read for both locations, the fries. Yeah they're frozen. Again, not sure what everyone expects! I can tell you that most chippies save the fancy ones in the Borough Market in London perhaps, are using frozen fries. About my only two gripes with GB is that they don't offer mushy peas and they don't have a Celtic F.C. shirt up at either location...what's up with that?! I'm still a fan of GB, but of the Broadway location and that's the one I'll return to in the future. read more

We called and they said they would make it right, but when we went back and picked up, they did not include the side - still no cole slaw! I used to love this place and when they opened up a location closer to me I was thrilled! Unfortunately this place has either gone downhill. Got the combo for $15.50. First off the scallops were tiny, the batter shell was over fried and hard on all of them. I had a hard time even FINDING the scallops at all, they were as small as my pinky nail. The rest of the fish fell away from the shell, I ended up just eating the fish that fell out. The only thing that was fried okay was the Tilapia, which was decent. For this price I expect good quality fried fish and CHIPS TO GO WITH IT. Perhaps there aren't enough Denverites who have ever been to a proper fish and chips joint to understand this concept.
