T-Mobile could not help me, nor could the Apple Help Desk, my work schedule would not allow me to go to Best Buy, and Gator Tec was my second option... now it is my first!!! I contacted Apple Support . My IPad was not keeping a charge. I was directed to Gator Tec on SW 34th St. The tech took my IPad to the back room to look at it. She came back and said there was a metal piece of the charger stuck in the IPad, and could not be fixed. She offered me "discounts to buy a new IPad. I left with my old IPad and went to YouTube. I found a solution that said to run a hair dryer around the back of the IPad. I never thought this would work, but it did. It's still fully charging after over two months. Normally I do not give poor reviews to other local businesses. This one is justified. I was in the market for a Mac and wanted to purchase from a local company. As a older student I knew Apple offered a educational discount, I checked the price on Apple.com and at the Hub. The model I wanted is discounted $800 by both, I called Gator Tec left a message for a return call (still waiting on that call) made another call two hours later. Told the person on the line I was a student needing to make a purchase of a Mac, I wanted to by local could they come close to the discount offered by the hub and Apple. He said yes as a primer partner they offered the same discount on the model I wanted not only did he tell me the exact discount he confirmed final retail price they had the model in stock. It was looking good, I said I would be right in. Upon arrival the clerk was helping people out of order leaving everyone in limbo once I told him what I wanted and covered my phone conversation. He said " oh you want the low end model" (If you have a low end model Apple that gets a $800 student discount I'd like to see it.) I showed him the model on the Apple site, he said they could not meet the price their student discount on Apple products was only $10 to $100 depending on the model . I asked to speak to the manager or the person I spoke to on the phone he came back after 5 minutes and said on the low end Apple that's the best they can do I must I talked to someone in their call center and they don't know the pricing. Bait and switch come to mind. I put the $500 worth of accessories I had back on the counter and bought my $2,799 low end Mac from the hub. My I Phone 8 would not send or receive voice calls but otherwise was working. so I scheduled an appointment. When I picked up the phone a few days later, I found that the phone had been "wiped" and that all data was gone and I couldn't use wi-fi, e mail or the internet. When I requested an explanation the tech didn't respond and simply returned the phone to me without apology or explanation or offering any alternatives. I have since tried using Apple's on line help service to restore the phone without success. I had used Gator Tech a few times for several years and had never been treated so rudely or incompetently. Do not be taken in by their fancy new building. This store does not deserve to be an Apple approved service outlet and I will write to Apple to inform them of this decline. read more

I've been to GatorTec a few times for computer repair. I've always been happy with their work. This time I could tell they were short staffed (just like every place all over the US). I didn't mind waiting a few extra minutes, because their staff were so nice. They stopped to greet each customer who came in and took the time to make sure they understood what each person needed. They did a great job fixing my computer and I got it back days earlier than I expected. I also noticed that the staff are not just white guys (thanks for hiring a diverse staff GatorTec!). They threw down the COVID card, and said they do not make calls anymore! Well, we have Dell computers and their service reps come out and fix our computers. I've known of GatorTec since it's the closest to an Apple Store you can get in Gainesville. (I'm kind of an Apple Nerd) Anyway, my visit was because of my Watch, I had issues setting up a repair through AppleCare's phone support so I thought "why not just drive across town and drop it off here?" which is exactly what I did. The man behind the counter was super friendly and we had a good conversation while he was processing my repair and getting ready to send it off to Apple.. It took about 8 days to get back to me (I don't blame GatorTec for this though, I blame Apple since it's not in their hands once the product leaves the store.) As the 8 days passed I received a voicemail from GatorTec letting me know my Watch was in! Long story short my watch was replaced and I'm 100% satisfied with GatorTec and their team. I'd like to add when I gave them my watch, I was kind of just given an "ok we'll call you when it's ready" as about 4 days passed I called for updates once a day on the repair, their automated message is kind of bugged. It introduces GatorTec and their new CoronaVirus policies but it would play itself on repeat 3 times before it actually rang the store, was kind of frustrating but it's whatever :) Thank you GatorTec! read more

I walked into this locatIon because the sign outside showed an apple logo so i thought there might bE products for sale and not just repairs. I walk inside and no greeting, nothing. One guy behind the computer in the rear of the building I can understand but the guy in front of the store that was talking to a customer looked at me and said nothing. Walked around the store lookiNg for an imac and gave the guy a few more chances but he basically ignored me. Regardless of how many customers there are, a quick "hi" or "be right with you" takes all of 2 seconds. Poor customer service. read more

I had an amazing experience at GatorTec. The customer service is excellent here! I had a problem with my MacBook and I brought it on a Saturday, but the technicians weren't in so I came back on a weekday. I was helped out by Michael and Brianna. Michael was patient in explaining the exact issue was having and how he can fix it. He offered to look at it immediately and for free (rather than a software fee of $89) because my laptop was still under warranty. He was extremely helpful and informative and he definitely knew what he was doing. Brianna also was friendly and fast with checking my computer in and out from the store. They also have a really awesome room where you can play on an Apple TV while waiting! They cover AppleCare and can do other repairs as well. After talking to Apple, I was referred to GatorTec, being the closest possible Apple solution to me in central Florida. In any case, I brought my iPhone 6+ in for a battery replacement. I had to go online. Fill out a form and enter the details of my device and they reached out to me 3.5 weeks later, to have me make an appointment to have it put in. I made the appointment for today, and showed up a bit early. They checked me in and thoroughly inspected my device, noting any minor scratches on the charging area and had me sign a form noting it's condition. It took about an hour (according to them) so I went about town to do some exploring. When I returned, they were very thorough in showing me my fixed device and very polite, as well. I noticed they took very good care with everyone, explaining things for each customer in such a way that everyone understood. I was impressed with their patience with some customers who weren't tech savvy. I don't know how screen repairs are there, but it's a service that they offer and I wish I would have tried them on a device that I did have to have the screen repaired (an older iPad mini). That one still is finicky. Anyhow, I'm impressed with this company, and if I have to have anything done to any of my other Apple pieces, I will not be driving to Orlando to have them repaired, if these guys can handle it. read more

I feel extorted and taken advantage of. Overall my experience was poor. I went in to have my iPhone 7 (32G) repaired. During the repair, I was using a loaner phone (an iphone6, 16G). When the repair was done, I went in with my infant twins, gave the woman the loaner, she gave me mine, I signed a release to erase the loaner and that I had received my phone back and went on my way with a "have a good day" and a "thank you". Great experience. Minus the woman saying "yeet" a lot. BUT When I turned on my phone I noticed the SIM card was missing. I turned around and asked an older gentleman if they had my SIM. He said they usually throw them out but would go look to see if they had it, which was kinda weird. He came back saying he had "news". There had been water damage to the loaner and I was responsible for it. I was given an ultimatum: Pay $320 for the loaner and keep my iPhone7 without my SIM card OR take the iPhone 6 WITH a SIM card and surrender my iPhone7. Because I was with my children at the time I NEEDED to have a operating phone. I feel like the timing of the damage discovery, the "trade" I was offered and the situation wasn't right and my hand was forced. If I had left and not returned looking for my SIM card, would the damage have been discovered right then and if it had would I have been offered the same deal? Who knows. Either way I left feeling pretty embarrassed,taken advantage of, using an older phone with half the memory. read more

It is sad that they call themselves an "Apple Authorized Retailer." I go in for a simple software reset and they try to charge me $100 while I'm still under warranty AND Apple advised me that it would be free. I follow up with Apple support where they give me a billing code that EVERY authorized retailer can accept yet these people say they don't. Went into the store to get some help with our passcode for iPad not working and the wrong Facebook account on my phone. Brianna and Savannah were extremely helpful and very patient with us. Stopped by this afternoon to buy a remote for an Apple TV. Was told that I was required to give them my name and phone number in order to make the purchase. I said I'd rather not (because I know nothing about their system security), and offered to pay with cash. They said it makes no difference. No personal info, no sale. I think it's odd for a business to ask for your personal data for a simple, cash retail transaction. I think it's even odder still for a business to insist upon it. I'm aware that there are plenty of people who will think that this is no big deal. I don't know why Apple would use This Authorized Dealer. I don't usually leave Reviews but consumer beware. Your better off going to Jacksonville or Orlando. I dropped off my Apple AirPods for sound being distorted. The Guy stated that it would be 6-14 days. That is understandable, they call the next morning stating that the Charging case has a problem and before they move in the steps they have to fix the Case. Mind you I just purchased these in July. That cost would be $100 and it's still under warranty? So you tell me that before you continue you'll have to fix the charging case that I didn't have a problem with. It's the darn AirPods that are the problem and newsflash for another $100 dollars I can just buy another Pair. It's sad I will be writing Apple about this to ensure that they know that one of their dealers are trying to up sale services that seem questionable. read more

Stopped by store around noontime today, my wife always speaks very highly of service she receives on her iPad there. I was all ready to shell out a bunch of money on an iPad mini "2" (i think) , and they could have easily made the sale. In fact, my iPad, cover n screen protector were already on the counter waiting to be rung- up. The manager (?) n his trainee realized that the iPad mini "3" would be coming out within a few weeks and suggested i wait, took my cell number n email so they could let me know when it arrives. Did not feel appreciated as a customer. I drove 40 miles to this place after confirming on the phone that they'd be able to take care of me with a 5-day turnaround time. Upon my arrival, they've decided it's now a 5-6 day turnaround, but that's not actually guaranteed. I asked what the cost would be for my repair, and they estimated 4x what THE APPLE STORE would be charging me. Avoid this business. read more

GatorTec - extraordinary service We have a 2011 mini Mac and we decided to add a new mini Mac. We wanted to support local business and GatorTec is obviously closer than Jacksonville or Orlando. Purchased the Apple Care and the $60 GatorTec coverage, which turned out to be a real bargain. GatorTec agreed to move everything off my old MAC onto my new MAC and assure that my Apple i phones and I pad would all sync. Zachery did a great job getting this done. Unfortunately, the new MAC would not find my router. Apple Care worked hard on the problem and strongly felt the mini-mac was defective. Michael Marrs, GatorTec Support Engineer, did a conference call with us and Apple Care. He was adamant it was a software problem. With his nine years of Apple experience, he took over the new mini remotely. He drilled down and found an odd disconnect with our router which was working with all our other products. He fixed the problem and all of our equipment is working great. GatorTec is super and has a great staff that are patient, and more important, extremely competent. read more

Wasn't asked any specifics about the issues and was told there was no other options in the area to get it fixed. Left my Mac book pro off because did not charge and did not get a return call, so I called six days later. The person on the phone didn't even know what the problem with my computer was but said it would cost me $800.00 to have it repaired. I could buy a new computer for that much! I said to cancel the repair and that I would pick it up the next day. When I got to the store to pick it up, the person told me I would have to wait while they put my computer back together! I still got charged 60 dollars for their "diagnosis." As I left, the woman repairperson said "take it easy, sugar." So I had to be hit one AFTER I paid 60 dollars for nothing. Sadly, iHospital is closed. So I took my Mac over to Geek Squad at Best Buy. I would avoid GatorTec like the plague. read more

My new iPhone 6 Plus failed within the first two weeks. To get a warrenty replacement sent from Apple, I would either have to be without a phone for a few days after sending mine to them or I would have to allow them to put an $850 hold on my credit card. The exception to the rule is apparently to go to GatorTec where they were able to order me my replacement phone that could be picked up the next day. I've gone to Gator Tec a couple of times. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. One tech wasn't helpful. Young guy, with had bad people skills. I have two macs, I brought my 2013 macbook pro under warrantee in. I had to change the thunder port, it didn't work. And the A key was loose. Kept dislodging. Initially he said he fixed it, along with the thunder-port. I opened it and the A key still flipped. He said hadn't noticed it was loose. It was on the repair order. He didn't want to swap the keyboard. He kept it for another hour or so. Seemed fine, I had to go on a trip out of the country the next day. I was away for several months. He never fixed it. It still flips up and is loose. Now the mac is out of warrantee and I have to deal with this flippin A key. read more

They have done it much faster than I would've thought to be even possible getting the repairs done in about three days. They communicated with me what was happening every step of the way and all of my repairs ended up being totally free and covered by Apple care. read more
