I have a 14" Dell Inspiron laptop which developed a broken binge for the second time, without any apparent trauma. Dell repaired it the first time, under warranty, but refused to do so now, since the warranty had expired (welcome to corporate America)... The doggies were recommended to me (no, I didn't know they existed previously). They were friendly, and did a beautiful job of repairing the hinge, and for a very fair price. Highly recommended! read more

These guys are some of the good guys. They're out-of-the-way but friendly staff and super knowledgeable. These guys been in the business a long time and really know their stuff. read more

These guys are so very nice. They are even nice when someone else is being a snot. If you have any kind of issue with your electronics go here. From as little as starting up a new computer to a dying laptop Great guys!!!! Thank you read more

I've used Dog Bytes for years and everything I've brought them has been fixed in a timely manner. Pricing is well within reason. As a matter of fact, their technicians have stopped me from wasting more money than I spend. I will continue to use them read more

Great service! I brought my desktop to Dog Bytes because it completely stopped working. While I waited, and had a great conversation, they diagnosed the problem (fried motherboard), told me how much it would cost (very reasonable), and replaced it. I walked out with my desktop. When I booted up at home, everything worked perfectly and just as before it crashed. These folks are friendly, funny, and sharp. Rather than buy a completely new computer for my expensive architectural graphics software, I will talk with them about building a new computer. I have a lot of respect for their competence. Tremendous service! read more

My most recent visit was my third and it has been pleasant every time, they are very friendly and knowledgeable. I feel good getting anything done here a real local gem. read more

always great service, quick, thorough, very well priced and honest. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, no matter what your computer needs, they are the Best! read more

These folks are great! They helped me with a computer issue, located and ordered the part needed for the repair, and kept me posted when the shipping of said ordered part was delayed and charged a fair price. They returned every phone call, and was incredibly patient in explaining what needed to be done as I don't speak computer lingo. They were never condescending to my many questions. Although I hope to not have computer issues again, if there is ever a need, I will definitely call them to help me and encourage anyone else to do the same. read more

They are the best. I use them frequently for all my computer needs. They are efficient and reasonably priced.

A family member recommended Dog Bytes by telling me the guys were honest and reasonably priced. Thankfully, I've only needed them a couple of times and I have found it to be true. Even though they are busy, they will answer a question thoughtfully. I have heard them be fair and frank with others in the store while I waited. As a "senior citizen", I also like that they treat me with respect and don't assume that I am clueless just because my hair is white. That goes a long way for me in this land of Peter Pan. As someone said in the comments, it's worth a trip from anywhere. read more

I had really given my laptop a hard crash onto asphalt, and it needed major repairs. They were extremely helpful and clearly very knowledgeable about the equipment and what they were doing. I felt extremely taken care of and as if they almost wanted it fixed more than I did. They were extremely reasonable with price and got me my computer back in a good time. I will definitely be returning if I have future problems and will recommend anyone to this place. Great business. read more

Fast, friendly service. They will get your computer back to you in 24 hours. They were $50 less than Best Buy to remove viruses from my desktop. Give them a call. read more

Down to earth computer store. My MacBook charger wasn't working and Dog Bytes helped me trouble shoot the issue. They even gave me some advice on how to operate my Mac more efficiently. Thanks Dog Bytes read more

They were very helpful! Service was quick, and I really appreciated how they took the time to explain everything to me.

I am giving this shop a 4 star because they were a little too pricey for the 30 minutes that they had my computer for but they did fix it.

I had a very pleasant experience here. I called to get an estimate based on what I thought the problem was with my laptop and was quoted a reasonable price. After the diagnostic test they did, it ended up being a lesser problem and cheaper than initially quoted. They had the replacement parts there (battery and charger) available to complete the repair. I got my laptop back a few hours later with the problem fixed. The crew is all very professional and personable, and I would definitely recommend them. Bonus points: the dog they have in the office is SUPER cute! read more

These folks have rescued our aging computers from sudden blue death, not once but several times. Always, they go out of their way to fix what's wrong with minimum cost. Always, with good humor and a friendly attitude. Once, when I was particularly upset about having my laptop back by a certain time, they stayed open past their posted closing hours so I could pick it up that evening. They have assorted computers and electronic oddments available for sale, but their focus seems to be on giving the best repair service in a reasonable time - have never been encouraged to buy something additional. read more

I'm relatively new to town. When my laptop began to have issues, I had to turn to locals for a recommendation. Dog Bytes Computers came up. I found the service to be fast and friendly (they remembered my name after my first visit). The price was right. Repairs were spot on - the issue was resolved. Dog Bytes recently upgraded my hard drive, and I had the same experience. I'm now a loyal customer and will gladly refer anyone in the Gainesville area to them. If you are in need of a computer repair or to purchase a refurbished unit, this is the place to go. read more

This place is fantastic!!! I was a student at UF and needed my tablet fixed before finals. These guys fixed it and kept me updated along the way. Great customer service and extremely knowledgable. They are a bit of a drive from the uf campus but their prices are so much more reasonable than their close to campus competitors. Thank you again dog bytes ! read more

Dog-Bytes is As good as it gets! They gave me a fast, HONEST, and cheaper then the others, service. I wasn't charged for removing and testing the motherboard of a laptop. A free diagnosis! (since I had been to several computer shops, I KNEW what the problem was. They couldn't fool me at that point ). Then, I got a phone call with an estimation which was much cheaper than Bestbuy, 3 Geeks computer, PC techman, Nexgen, and several others. I am from CA originally and a new grad. student at UF. Not only that every penny counts, I needed to trust the place that they wouldn't "create" new problems with my laptop (I was told by other computer shops that the motherboard, power supply, and hard drive are dead! I was so upset as you could imagine) Thanks a lot Dog-Bytes guys. Even though your location isn't in a "walking distance," You WILL see me again! You have earned my trust and business. Alright, so all these other reviews are lying. This place is absolutely terrible. At first we brought them a laptop so they could fix the screen, now the laptop won't turn on at all and they said we need a new laptop. No refund or anything. Brought in a phone for the same thing before I found out they screwed me on the laptop, also for a screen replacement, and they broke it as well to where the phone doesn't get service. No fund or apology. The old guy running it said " we don't have f*cking time for this bullsh*t ", when we asked for the paper to see if they were liable, asked " if we are f*cking lawyers " and demanded we get out saying " you're not my f*cking customers " when we asked " is this how you treat people? ". Hope it goes out of business. Horrible place! read more

I want to start by saying DogBytes was highly recommended by a friend and neighbor. I was excited to find a local computer store, supporting local businesses is something I strive to support. So late January of this year I went in to get my tosheba repaired. I was told she was done so I purchased a Lenovo think pad supposedly it was a great notebook. I paid 350 for it with a one year warranty. I took it in a month ago because I was having trouble connecting to the internet. No issues other than I was told it was my router. Well since then I was able to get on the internet however it would keep knocking me off . I since then have been using an apple 4 iPad most of the time . Well make a long story short my number keys on my notebook wouldn't work so I brought it in to be fixed with the notion my warranty would cover my issues nope for 145$parts and labor all would be wonderful as I was told it was caused by a spillage of some sort. They were firm in their findings. So I left with a computer that is useless to me . I so wanted to support DogBytes but they chose not even try to make me happy. I wouldn't recommend them. read more

The guys at Dog Bytes Computers are definitely professionals. I went in needing some parts to finish building a new rig, and the guys there hooked me up with everything I needed at a much cheaper price than Best Buy! I highly recommend these guys! read more

Great customer service. They fixed my laptop very quickly and for 300$ less than the apple retailer wanted to fix it! Couldnt be happier

I called Best Buy first (because I didn't know what else to do) and they told me my repairs would take a minimum of 7-10 days. Apparently, they send your computer off somewhere and don't even do it on site! ANYWAY, I asked around and everyone was raving about DOG BYTES!! I took my computer there and they fixed it in 15 minutes! It was SO INEXPENSIVE! I felt like I won the lottery! The computer had been down for about 3 years and it had all my recording equipment on it read more

I had the pleasure of having my computer checked out today by the guys at Dog Byte Computers. They were great and did some free work diagnosing the issue before letting me know that my problem was more than likely with my ISP and not with my computer. They were extremely fast, accurate and very customer-service oriented, with reasonable rates. It's a friendly environment, and yes, there is a cute little dog who will greet you! I''d highly recommend this business to anyone within driving distance -- they are worth the drive from the places on Archer Road and around campus that serve a more student-oriented clientele. read more

Okay, I will begin by saying that I posted a horrible review based on my...hmmm, not initial experience but the initial results. My Alienware laptop had extensive work done to it but when I got it back it ran slow as molasses (it took minutes to boot up) and the gaming laptop couldn't even load a game, much less play one. When I ran the DirectX Diagnostic tool on my computer it said there was a Microsoft Basic Display Adapter where my NVIDIA graphics card should be. I was incensed at what seemed a way to cut costs. I posted my negative review saying that I will update it when I went in. I had to take the laptop in twice more but the issue was resolved to my satisfaction (the motherboard kept mistaking the GeForce GTX 765M they installed with the original one that it came with so it wasn't registering or something like that). Although my experience was mixed with good and bad due to ill luck and miscommunication, as I waited for my computer to be looked at, I watched the interactions with other customers and realized that they didn't willfully overlook anything and that they work hard for each customer. They are very knowledgeable and genuinely love what they do. Although my initial feeling of betrayal when I couldn't get my computer to work as it should still lingers (only because I felt it so deep, kinda like when someone you love betrays you in your dream but you still can't help but be mad at them when your awake), I know that it was an honest and rare mistake that happens. They are busy for a reason and, although human, are as good as it gets. read more

Amazing and efficient service! Friendly and fast...my day was saved thanks to Dog Bytes Computers!! :)

Dog Bytes is an incredible place. Not only do they not try to sell you stuff, they tell you when you don't need something or when you would be better off doing something simpler. When I suggested a purchase of several things (buy external hard drive, replace hard drive, or buy a new laptop), they actually told me each of three different times of less expensive corrections and simpler solutions to my problems. When I do get another laptop, this is where I will buy! read more

I huge thank you to Dog Bytes as they dropped everything and fixed my computer as if I was the only person in the world. I just moved into the area and my pc decided it didn't want to turn on. They couldn't have been more friendly and professional. I was amazed at how quickly they analyzed my computer problem, which was a shorted power connection to an SSD. Had a call back with everything fixed the same afternoon, and cost was within the $65 analysis fee, so no additional charge. Highly recommended. I have been a computer professional for more than 35 years, but now am tired of doing hardware work, so I'm extremely pleased I found them. read more

Worst place to get computer fixed! Horrible customer service and even worse service from the owner. I will never use again! He laughed when discussing problem and told me to take him to small claims court. What a great way to treat your customers!!! read more

My gripe with this Dog Bytes is over a year old. I've waited a long time for my anger at these people to subside and it has, but I still have bad feelings about the way they treated me. I'm posting this now to warn individuals to proceed with caution when purchasing a computer from them, as based on how they treated me, people who buy just one computer from them may not receive the same after sales care that they provide to customers who have multiple computers and/or business networks. I think they are technically competent, but they did not stand by me when the motherboard in the computer they built for me failed. They were very knowledgeable and helpful during the sales phase, and the pc they designed and built for me was probably pretty good except for the motherboard, but I will never forget their cavalier attitude or the abrasive way the owner spoke to me when it failed. All said and done, I would've been better off buying a ready made computer at a big box store because the local support and service I had expected based on their reputation, was not available once a problem developed. Needless to say, I will not buy from Dog Bytes again. read more
