I have a 14" Dell Inspiron laptop which developed a broken binge for the second time, without any apparent trauma. Dell repaired it the first time, under warranty, but refused to do so now, since the warranty had expired (welcome to corporate America)... Great service! I brought my desktop to Dog Bytes because it completely stopped working. While I waited, and had a great conversation, they diagnosed the problem (fried motherboard), told me how much it would cost (very reasonable), and replaced it. I walked out with my desktop. When I booted up at home, everything worked perfectly and just as before it crashed. These folks are friendly, funny, and sharp. I had a very pleasant experience here. I called to get an estimate based on what I thought the problem was with my laptop and was quoted a reasonable price. After the diagnostic test they did, it ended up being a lesser problem and cheaper than initially quoted. They had the replacement parts there (battery and charger) available to complete the repair. I got my laptop back a few hours later with the problem fixed. The crew is all very professional and personable, and I would definitely recommend them. These folks have rescued our aging computers from sudden blue death, not once but several times. Always, they go out of their way to fix what's wrong with minimum cost. Always, with good humor and a friendly attitude. Once, when I was particularly upset about having my laptop back by a certain time, they stayed open past their posted closing hours so I could pick it up that evening. Dog-Bytes is As good as it gets! They gave me a fast, HONEST, and cheaper then the others, service. I wasn't charged for removing and testing the motherboard of a laptop. A free diagnosis! (since I had been to several computer shops, I KNEW what the problem was. They couldn't fool me at that point ). Then, I got a phone call with an estimation which was much cheaper than Bestbuy, 3 Geeks computer, PC techman, Nexgen, and several others. I am from CA originally and a new grad. student at UF. Not only that every penny counts, I needed to trust the place that they wouldn't "create" new problems with my laptop (I was told by other computer shops that the motherboard,power supply, and hard drive are dead! Alright, so all these other reviews are lying. This place is absolutely terrible. At first we brought them a laptop so they could fix the screen, now the laptop won't turn on at all and they said we need a new laptop. No refund or anything. Brought in a phone for the same thing before I found out they screwed me on the laptop, also for a screen replacement, and they broke it as well to where the phone doesn't get service. No fund or apology. The old guy running it said " we don't have f*cking time for this bullsh*t ", when we asked for the paper to see if they were liable, asked " if we are f*cking lawyers " and demanded we get out saying " you're not my f*cking customers " when we asked " is this how you treat people? I want to start by saying DogBytes was highly recommended by a friend and neighbor. I was excited to find a local computer store,supporting local businesses is something I strive to support. So late January of this year I went in to get my tosheba repaired. I was told she was done so I purchased a Lenovo think pad supposedly it was a great notebook. I paid 350 for it with a one year warranty. I took it in a month ago because I was having trouble connecting to the internet. No issues other than I was told it was my router. Well since then I was able to get on the internet however it would keep knocking me off . I since then have been using an apple 4 iPad most of the time . Well make a long story short my number keys on my notebook wouldn't work so I brought it in to be fixed with the notion my warranty would cover my issues nope for 145$parts and labor all would be wonderful as I was told it was caused by a spillage of some sort. They were firm in their findings. So I left with a computer that is useless to me . I so wanted to support DogBytes but they chose not even try to make me happy. I wouldn't recommend them. read more

Dog Bytes is an incredible place. Not only do they not try to sell you stuff, they tell you when you don't need something or when you would be better off doing something simpler. I called Best Buy first (because I didn't know what else to do) and they told me my repairs would take a minimum of 7-10 days. They were great and did some free work diagnosing the issue before letting me know that my problem was more than likely with my ISP and not with my computer. Okay, I will begin by saying that I posted a horrible review based on my...hmmm, not initial experience but the initial results. My Alienware laptop had extensive work done to it but when I got it back it ran slow as molasses (it took minutes to boot up) and the gaming laptop couldn't even load a game, much less play one. When I ran the DirectX Diagnostic tool on my computer it said there was a Microsoft Basic Display Adapter where my NVIDIA graphics card should be. I was incensed at what seemed a way to cut costs. I posted my negative review saying that I will update it when I went in. I had to take the laptop in twice more but the issue was resolved to my satisfaction (the motherboard kept mistaking the GeForce GTX 765M they installed with the original one that it came with so it wasn't registering or something like that). Although my experience was mixed with good and bad due to ill luck and miscommunication, as I waited for my computer to be looked at, I watched the interactions with other customers and realized that they didn't willfully overlook anything and that they work hard for each customer. They are very knowledgeable and genuinely love what they do. Although my initial feeling of betrayal when I couldn't get my computer to work as it should still lingers (only because I felt it so deep, kinda like when someone you love betrays you in your dream but you still can't help but be mad at them when your awake), I know that it was an honest and rare mistake that happens. They are busy for a reason and, although human, are as good as it gets. read more

My gripe with this Dog Bytes is over a year old. I've waited a long time for my anger at these people to subside and it has, but I still have bad feelings about the way they treated me. I'm posting this now to warn individuals to proceed with caution when purchasing a computer from them, as based on how they treated me, people who buy just one computer from them may not receive the same after sales care that they provide to customers who have multiple computers and/or business networks. I think they are technically competent, but they did not stand by me when the motherboard in the computer they built for me failed. They were very knowledgeable and helpful during the sales phase, and the pc they designed and built for me was probably pretty good except for the motherboard, but I will never forget their cavalier attitude or the abrasive way the owner spoke to me when it failed. All said and done, I would've been better off buying a ready made computer at a big box store because the local support and service I had expected based on their reputation, was not available once a problem developed. Needless to say, I will not buy from Dog Bytes again. read more
