I have twice been disappointed by Gatineau's service and communication. Recently, I decided to order a birthday cake from Gatineau. So I went to the company's website and spent quite a bit of time poring over its delectable product list. When I phoned to order the velour d'orange cake, the Gatineau staff did not recognise the name of the cake. After informing the staff that the cake is listed on Gatineau's website, I was told that Gatineau no longer makes that cake. Quite disappointing. With a website which is evidently out-of-date, I am puzzled as to how Gatineau expects customers to order its products, short of visiting the store in person. As I was unable to fit in a trip to the store before my birthday, I ordered my birthday cake elsewhere (back to Maison Blanc!).
Secondly, when I was planning my wedding two years ago, I emailed Gatineau with a general enquiry about its wedding cakes. I never received a response. Being very busy with planning, and not wishing to waste time chasing up vendors who didn't respond to enquiries, I simply ordered my cake from a more responsive company (I highly recommend The Cake Shop excellent service).
Although Gatineau's cakes look attractive when I pass by the store window, good luck ordering something if you're using the website or contacting the company via email! I doubt I will try to order from Gatineau again: it's a waste of time unless you can actually visit the store in person. read more
