The two very thick pancakes are no joke! Only $7 they couldn't be beat. My wife got the vegetarian sandwich which was also very delicious, and the hot white chocolate mocha was also very tasty. I was really happy that something was open at 7am on a Monday morning. read more

Gathering Grounds is a popular spot in Patagonia. Weekends get quite busy! I like to pop in for their oatmeal cookies and scones for a post hike pick me up. They offer breakfast and lunch with a wide range of offerings, so there really is something for everyone. It's casual and lowkey...very Patagonia! read more

Nice gluten free options. I had the turkey Reuben and it was great. Great service as well and a nice local feel that's welcoming to visitors. read more

Overall, everything went really well. The coffee was fantastic as were the breakfast entrées we got. The staff was attentive and cheerful, which made for a great visit. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is I don't think I've ever been to a coffee shop that didn't offer Wi-Fi. When I asked my server for the password for the Wi-Fi that clearly stated gathering grounds, she indicated it wasn't for the public. However, considering our cell service was halfway decent, this wasn't a huge problem. I definitely go back. read more

Definitely a must-stop when driving through Patagonia! The food is delicious, and the staff is always friendly. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available, making it a comfortable place to enjoy your meal. And don't miss the bakery--whether you're gluten-free or not, the desserts are absolutely to die for. #SupportLocalRestaurants read more

My friend and I planned a breakfast date for 10:30am. I had always wanted to try this place out and it did not disappoint. It exudes a cuts country charm upon walking in, with the smell of espresso whaffing through the dining area. Photographic art adorn the walls. The place was busy. Customers are divided by sit-down and togo orders. I would have enjoyed a large cappuccino before my meal, but settled for a dark house roast to which I helped myself. We got a small table against the wall with an AC outlet right under the table. I ordered Biscuits and Gravy that came with two eggs and potatoes. My friend had an omelette that came with two slices of toast and potatoes. My meal was well spiced but a tad too salty. And then shortly after leaving the cafe my stomach felt turbulence that thankfully was eased with a 1.5 mile walk on a nearby trail. read more

I went inside to order their Cuban sandwich. It's always good! I prefer without the horseradish condiment. It was even more delicious today! I was served right away and due to good timing I didn't have to wait long at all. I've yet to try their fresh baked goods. I believe most art on wall are from local artists. They have a nice patio where your pets are welcome, with water always close by. read more

First off, the very fact that they're open in Patagonia on a Monday, when most of the eateries here take off Monday and Tuesday (and some even Wednesday), made these tourists very happy! Add that to being the only such place that has an outdoor patio where dogs are allowed, and they were the perfect (and only) choice. (They close in the early afternoon, so don't dawdle.) The service was family-style friendly and prompt. I was pleasantly surprised to be handed a lunch menu, as I had expected they were a breakfast/brunch-only place. I was tempted by the roast beef and cheese sandwich with horseradish (not one of my usuals), and the peanut and ginger slaw, which I ordered because I'd never heard of anything like it. Both were delicious. DW ordered a Cuban (not one of her usuals) with the pesto pasta salad. She pronounced them perfect. The waitress brought out a complimentary "pup cup" for our retriever, because he was such a big, well-behaved schmoozer. Their desserts were strictly off limits for us, but they looked mouth-watering. I'd go back there anytime. Patagonia is lucky to boast a friendly place like this. read more

It's simply a solid stop for any traveler to be well fed with homemade foods, nourished with some local attitude (family business), and caffeinated. The bakery section gets its own line because everything in there is homemade and really well done. I've noticed renovations such as a second bathroom, nice. Some outdoor seating which works real well. Only complaint: they don't allow patrons (even those spending often and generously) to use their Internet. It's the biggest downer for a place that sells great lattes... and I also understand that they are not wanting to be a coffee shop. Still 5 stars, easy. read more

I love diners, bohemian coffee shops, and bakeries. We shared a savory plate of eggs, breakfast potatoes, biscuits and gravy, avocado, and bakery items: an almond coconut poppy seed scone and a pecan bar coming home with us. :) We returned the following day and ordered the mimosas! The service was very friendly, and we loved the space--it was small and cozy. I want an entire pie. read more

Gathering grounds is always good before 3pm, 230pm for food! They're always quite busy because Patagonia is actually a busy spot for bikers and birders- so you just have to make sure that you have a little extra time! Their ice cream is awesome! And believe it or not this is where I met my boyfriend, and now together for 4 1/2 months! Thank you gathering grounds read more

I dined here for the first time today. I ordered the chorizo and eggs with potatoes. It was really good...the chorizo and eggs had the perfect amount of spice and the potatoes were well-cooked and flavorful. My only disappointment is that they only offer flour tortillas and, even though they gave gluten free bread, I am not a bread fan. It sure would be nice if corn tortillas were an option for those with Celiac Disease. That would have made the meal perfect. The service was good and it's a nice clean and well decorated space with inside and outside dining options. read more

Camping in Patagonia and had breakfast here. Ordered a chai latte and the vegetarian breakfast sandwich. Totally yummy and reasonably priced. Place was busy with locals who even bussed their own tables before leaving. So we did likewise. Cozy, comfortable atmosphere. Would eat here again. read more

This place is FANTASTIC! Everything is delicious. We had the breakfast burrito, breakfast bowl, cinnamon, roll, pancakes, and pie. Everything was phenomenal, and the service was very friendly. Best café in a small Arizona town. Patagonia is a laid-back town with hotel, cafes, active mining company, art, library, senior center, performing arts, Nature Conservancy, Audubon and many tourists that bird watch, bike, hike, boat and fish - and for foodies! We are here for the grub. This is a great find for our very first trip to Patagonia. Serving just about everything organic, including 100% local grazed and raised beef down the road in Sonoita. We are splitting a Patty melt with sides of Asian slaw and potato salad. Homemade ice cream looks good so I may have to give it a try tune. read more

On a recent day trip, my partner and I happened to be in Patagonia at lunch time. As always, we consulted Yelp and decided to try Gathering Grounds. My review is based on our carry out experience. The restaurant also offers sit-down service inside and outside. A sign next to the door indicates that all staff have received COVID-19 vaccinations. As a result, they are not masked. As soon as we stepped inside, our eyes were greeted by a large case of delicious-looking baked goods. We ogled the numerous pie varieties while we waited our turn at the register. The cashier handed us menus and patiently answered our questions. We were pleased to see several vegan and vegetarian options in addition to the standard sandwiches and soups. We each ordered the hummus wrap and a piece of strawberry-rhubarb pie. Before ringing our order up, the cashier said it would be 30 minutes for our order to be ready and asked if that was ok. Since no cooking was involved, we were a bit surprised at the long wait time. They were very busy, and we had no desire to eat anywhere else in town, so we said yes. After browsing in some neighboring artist shops, we came back 30 minutes later, and our order was boxed and waiting for us. The wrap consisted of a thick layer of black bean hummus topped by fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers inside a fresh flour tortilla. I choose regular potato chips as a side, and my partner selected potato salad. We both thought the wrap was good and filling. The strawberry rhubarb pie was very tasty. The rhubarb was chopped finely, and the sweet-sour flavors perfectly balanced. The crust was flaky with a touch of cinnamon. I'd give 5 stars for sure if the service for items not requiring the grill was just a bit quicker. We'll be back. read more

Just a very special place, with convivial atmosphere, excellent food, awesome pies and other baked goods, really friendly staff providing terrific service. Eat outside or inside. Stopped by for breakfast. Staff was rushed and made me feel like an inconvenience. Food was decent but not worth the bother.

When in the borderlands one should never pass up breakfast at Gathering Grounds -- kindness and a smile always accompany the dependably good food and hot coffee! Nothing particularly fancy here but the food is yummy, the coffee is great, and there are always fresh baked goods to choose from as well. I tend to default to favorites when finding them on the menu, Biscuits and Gravy in this case, and Gathering Grounds has never disappointed!.. they come with a side of two eggs however you'd like them and roasted potatoes... as I was devouring my little feast on the patio, two different couples passed by and said something along the lines of "that looks like a good breakfast!" (no exaggeration). Always recommend Gathering Grounds for starting one's day in Patagonia! read more

Waited forever for an employee to serve me. They just stared at me with a expression on their faces that scream "WTF DO YOU WANT???" I was taken aback. The lady that walked up to me said that they didn't have breakfast and they weren't serving lunch yet. Lol. So, I guess they weren't serving my type? After talking to a few locals, I was told that racism is practiced and is alive & well in some of this town. I was told that I wouldn't be welcomed here & the Wagon Wheel. I said that was fine because I didn't want to enrich anyone like that. Hahahaha! And, so close to the border. Who would've thought!? Be good & put into the world whatever you want there to be more of! read more

Our Airbnb host in Tubac recommended the pie in this bakery/coffee shop in Patagonia. I love pie but rarely eat it, I love good coffee and drink a lot of that. The strawberry-rhubarb pie at Gathering Grounds was fabulous, and paired excellently with my latte! What a treat! Hubby had an Americano and was very pleased. So often it is hard to find really good coffee when you are a stranger in town! We did not feel like strangers at this cafe. Everyone was very friendly and we felt at home. It seemed like everyone was enjoying the morning. I look forward to stopping by on our next trip to the area. read more

Really liked Place. Met some friends from Patagonia there. Generally good but the 'sourdough' bread was dry and did not stay together in our otherwise delicious turkey sandwich. Side of potato salad and slaw were superb. Coffee was righteous. Homemade cookies were memorable. Nice and friendly ambience with interesting art on the walls. Service is top notch. read more

Great home cooked foods and delicious coffees. Small town feel with great flavors. Don't forget to grab a cookie and muffin on the way out.

I don't sport five stars often. Pretty rare actually. However this joint gets it without reservation. I often come here when taking the backroads to Nogales for work and stop for their outstanding Chai. Often it will be accompanied by a breakfast burrito. YUM! Today was road trip day and we stopped for lunch. Between the two of us we decided to split both the hamburger and the Cuban sandwich. When taking the order, Andy (also the Mayor of Patagonia), heard us regarding the splitting plan. We were slightly concerned about how busy they were and anticipating a wait we decided to relax and accept it. We didn't have to wait. The food came out surprisingly prompt. The food was truly outstanding. The burger is made from LOCAL beef and delicious. The Cuban has house pulled pork and delicate ham. The French roll was flakey and seemed fresh baked. Our plates were split for us during plating including the sides. Who does that? No fighting who got more chips! LOL. I've eaten at all the establishments in Patagonia. There is no reason to go elsewhere. You will NOT be disappointed and will be completely satisfied and pleased with your experience. They also have a case full of fresh baked pies, cookies and pastries. There's a daily quiche to choose from for the real men out there. The coffee menu is extensive. Oat and almond are your dairy milk alternatives. There are a handful of bottle beer choices as well. Something for everyone. Don't drive through Patagonia without a stop here! read more

Lovely place! The staff was so friendly. We ate there twice! First day we had our dogs and sat on the patio. The server brought out ham pieces to give to our dogs. So sweet!
