I was really excited to try this place for a lymphatic massage prior to surgery and for my post-op…read moremassages, but unfortunately, I couldn't have had a worse experience. Their employee, Barbara, was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional, and I would not recommend this business to anyone seeking a pleasant experience or to be a valued customer. I called in advance to ask if there was a package that would cover one pre-surgery massage and a few post-op sessions. I was told that the Lymphatic Bliss package wouldn't apply, but I could use the Post-Op package and that my pre-op massage could count toward it. Shortly after, when I tried to book online, the appointment slot disappeared, so I called back. The same person confirmed she could still book it for me and said if I hadn't purchased the package online yet, I could just pay in person. I told her that I had the package in my cart and could check out, but she said she can just charge me for it in person. When I arrived, I double-checked with the front desk that I'd be using the post-op package, and she confirmed. She led me to the treatment room and told me to stand in front of a red-light device for 10 minutes before undressing for the massage. After waiting 20 minutes, I called out to check in, and she realized I was supposed to press a button to start the timer. Because of that, I ended up with only about a 30-minute massage instead of the full session. The therapist herself was kind, though she seemed new. The real issue happened at checkout. The therapist told me she was charging me for both today's massage and the full package. I explained that today's visit was supposed to be the first session within the package, which I had also mentioned when I first arrived. She then called Barbara, who insisted over speakerphone that because I hadn't paid online, the session couldn't count toward the package. I reminded her that she specifically told me over the phone it could, and that I wouldn't have booked otherwise, which I had also said prior to coming in. She became defensive and raised her voice, telling the other employee to just "charge it" and that she'd "pay out of pocket," while making passive-aggressive comments in a very unprofessional tone. At that point, I decided not to proceed with the package at all. What was meant to be a relaxing and positive pre-surgery experience turned into a stressful, uncomfortable ordeal. I left feeling frustrated and disrespected -- and $200 lighter for what was supposed to be a self-care appointment. I absolutely do not recommend this spa unless they make major improvements to their communication and professionalism.

For years, she has done an amazing job. I learned about her through Urban Skin Care, where she worked for several years. She now has her own place in Encinitas. Even though it is a drive, it is TOTALLY worth it. I always get a deep tissue massage and she goes deep but never leaves me too sore. Her massages have never injured me in any way and if anything she has helped improve my pains from running. She is friendly but not one of those massage therapists that talks your ear off in the middle of the massage. She makes you feel comfortable. You can tell her I referred you if you want. Oh! Make sure you sign up for her e-mails updates, she offers some good discounts often. She charges about $85 for a 1 hour massage and about $115 for 90 minutes. It ain't cheap but SO WORTH your buck! I was stressed trying to find someone who could work on my knots and relieve the pain. Yelp has always helped find a great resource in the past and this was no exception. I found Claudia here on Yelp and she was a total blessing. Her studio is comfortable and clean. I explained what my body had been going through and she quickly threw out some suggestions as she started to get to work. She found some trouble spots right away and really worked on them. It was sort of that pleasurable pain that comes with muscle tissue. As it's worked on, it can be a bit painful. However, after it is worked on, it feels 110% better. That was truly the case here. I mentioned that if she found additional spots to kneed out, to please keep going. She certainly found and kept going! Definitely longer than your usual session, but OH SO WORTH IT! Continued feeling loose and good for days after. If you're in need of some deep bodywork, give Claudia a call. You'll thank me later! Keep on Yelp'n!
