The reason for this YELP review is to express gratitude for the crew in charge of sending us down the snow lanes. My daughter (4yrs old) was so terrified to go down the slides and they were so kind. So gentle. Such great cheer leaders to motivate her to do it. After 3 attempts they finally convinced her to do it and she loved it. My parents (both in their 70's) my husband my daughter and myself will talk about this experience for years to come. While at dinner my dad thanked us for making today one of his favorite days in his life. My little one is still talking about how fun it was and how everyone clapped for her. So.... stinkin'..... much..... fun. I knew nothing about this place until we went to Idaho to visit my brother and sister-in-law. They'd rolled their eyes, promised, nearly guaranteed there'd be snow. I mean it's bloody Idaho....in January. There WILL be snow. But of course, the few days we were there? None on the ground and not a single flake fell. But the Gateway saved us! Like I said we knew nothing. So we didn't book or pay on-line or sign any waivers in advance. We rolled up with cash in our pockets and said we wanted to play. The runs were fast and fun. There was one with a jump large enough that I got airborne several times. The staff that manned the runs were upbeat and energetic. And it was a great opportunity for this hevier-than-he-ought-to-be visitor to get some vigorous exercise. I loved the intertube design!! Someone clearly has given that some thought. The skins that covered the intertubes were freakishly fast and the handles were thick and rugged and comfortable. It was especially awesome to set the intertube down at the top of a run, back up 3 or 4 big steps, and give it a running, leaping start. Just for a minute as I was in the air or as I was screaming sideways down the run I could relish the sense of invincibility that teenagers and 20-somethings enjoy as a routine part of life. We came on the last weekend of snow tubing (3/25) for the season and it was a BLAST. Our friends who live in Eagle made reservations ahead of time online (sign the waivers online to save even more time) and you get a 90 min slot. Since it was the end of the season, there weren't lines, and with the magic carpet whisking you to the top of the hill, we went down the 2 available slopes a ton of times. The first slope was faster, but the 2nd one had 2 bumps that meant you'd catch a bit of air each time. The snowtubes are super sturdy and well-made. The staff can chain together your tubes for an even crazier time down, or spin you for some extra whirl. We managed a chain of 6 snowtubes, including an adult holding onto a 2 year old and an adult filming it on their phone as we screamed our way down. Staff were young and all very nice and enthusiastic. The firepit is a nice place to warm up, which is also underneath the picnic shelter. The heated bathrooms are nearby, which were standard clean park bathrooms (not portapotties). My husband, who uses a wheelchair, appreciated not only the firepit, but also the ramp leading up to a viewing platform at the start of the magic carpet where he could watch all the excitement whooshing down the slopes. Plus you only pay for those tubing, so he was able to get a great closeup view, accessible bathrooms nearby, and be close to all the fun. Staff mentioned that Christmas time is their busiest season, so maybe avoid during them and come by during the end of the season to get the most bang for your buck! read more

First off, Ryan was amazing on the phone. I was on the fence as to whether or not to come here for my son's birthday party, and now I am so glad that we did. He definitely convinced me to host the party there on a Friday night, and the fire pit was lit to keep everyone warm that chose not to go tubing. The conveyor belts helped tremendously, so that we wouldn't have to walk up the hill each and every time. I, personally, went down about 20 different times, and now I am regretting not getting some awesome video footage of all the fun. We will definitely be coming back and will consider a season pass in the future! read more

Great little snow park conveniently located at Eagle Island State Park. They have one hill for tubes (they provide the tubes--no outside tubes/sleds allowed) and another for ski/snowboarding (this one has a little ski jump). The cost is $10 for unlimited tubing/snowboarding throughout the day (they have lights and are open after dark!). We were there on a Saturday and there was a line which moved fairly quickly (about 5-7 minutes between runs down the hill). Some things to consider: You do have to tote your own tube up the hill so if you're bringing kiddos that won't be able to do that--mom/dad's doing the toting (little ones CAN go on the same tube as mom/dad/older sibling). The snow is made from pond water which means really NOT ok to eat in any way--so if you have a super little one who's going to be wanting to put handfuls in their mouths (you know...like a small toddler who wants to put EVERYTHING in his/her mouth)--know you'll be having to watch that all day. It's $5 to get into Eagle Island and then the cost of the tubing ($10/pp). Both the state park and the snow park accept visa (yay!). There are picnic tables that are situated under a roof with gas heaters where you can eat if you want to bring a picnic--or (even better) they have a food vender there grilling burgers and hotdogs (and they DO offer an awesome black bean chipotle veggie burger--I had one while I was there and it was delish). The vender also sells hot chocolate and other beverages. And, they also accept visa (double yay!). They have a couple of fire pits with tree stump seating for those who would rather watch than sled (or for warming up between runs). Overall a super fun/different way to spend an afternoon while not venturing very far from Boise. Well done! read more

Speaking of stories, if you get a chance to meet Ryan, the creator/owner, your life will be blessed. He is one of the most generous, charismatic people I've ever met. His story is on the website. Great way to enjoy the snow without a hectic drive to get there. This park is amazing and when the snow falls and I need a place to go with friends and/or Family. Have the opportunity to meet the owner of this park and I could see at the definitely care for the community in allowing for families to common and joy the day sledding snowboarding or skiing it's just amazing. Our family had wanted to check this place out since last year. My kid's school ended up here on a field trip and my husband and I went with them. I am so glad we did. Not only was it such a blast, but the owner and his crew were beyond welcoming. The place is dedicated for people to learn to ski and snowboard or just tube. The owner does lessons for free! Definitely a heart of gold and we will be back for sure. Came here with my fiancee and her nephews and nieces. We had a great time and thought the price was reasonable at only $10. One possible negative is they don't let you bring your own sleds, but they give you their own tubes which are probably more fun than anything you could buy at a store. Some of the amenities they had there were wood fire pits, a grill, a concession stand with burgers, hotdogs, and drinks available for purchase, and gas heaters under the gazebo. All-in-all it was pretty comfortable and well worth the price. I am definitely coming again with my snowboard next time. They told me that they change their terrain park features weekly, which I have never heard of before. read more

We hit up the twilight tubing, and it was HORRIBLE. The guy in charge of the snow machine decided to run the machine while everyone was tubbing, and we were continuously sprayed directly in the face with wet river water. Water was literally dripping off of our faces the entire time, which was especially great for my 4yo. We had to keep our eyes closed the entire time we were tubing. We were all freezing. We asked him if he was going to run it the whole time we were there, and his answer was "I gotta run it when I can." I totally understand that, but I doubt it was absolutely necessary to run the machine during the one hour time slot before closing. Especially with 9 paying customers using the hill. We paid over $40 for the three of us to sled, and it was a total waste. read more

I took my family here for an afternoon of sledding. Lucky for us, we chose a weekend where we got dumped with snow. The parking is easy, it wasn't crowded and we got tons of sledding in. The staff here is absolutely wonderful! The kids working the sledding hills were so much fun and you could clearly tell that they love their jobs! I just wanted to say thank you so much to Mr. Neptune, I had such a great time here. My parents said they had a blast as well as my brother and I, truly one of the most exhilarating and memorable experiences. To start, this place has amazingly smooth banked turns as well as a motorized magic carpet system that takes you back up the hill. In addition, Mr. Neptune has loads of different creative and fun yet safe ways to get you down the curvy hill, whether it's solo or in groups even up to 4. Not to mention, Mr. Neptune is a very impactful person to the world of snowboarding and has contributed so many things to the athletic realm in general. He was one of the largest driving forces that got snowboarding into the olympics and has helped create 25 different skateparks, and has built terrains in 10 different countries. He was also the first US X-games snowboarding champion. He is all self made and has many amazing talents, he's a really cool guy and I strongly recommend that you bring a friend or family to check out Mr. Neptune's incredible, self built tubing park. read more

Came for a work outing. Weather wasn't good and it rained most of our visit. We were told we could stay as long as we wanted, I assume due to the weather and lack of other bookings. Overall we had a lot of fun but toward the end of our visit I went over the berm in lane 1 and dropped into lane 2 falling about 5 feet onto my left side. I injured my head,ribs and hips. Not one employee came to check in or even noticed. There were no staff members at the bottom. I sat at the tables awhile after and watched approximately 5 others go over the same berm. On the way out I mentioned it to the check in employee and suggested they close that lane before someone got seriously injured. He didn't seem concerned and said something about snow grooming. Fun but safety was not a priory for staff. read more

Amazing place to have fun for any age! I have been coming since they first opened and will continue to come. Their tubing lanes are the best I've ever seen and the amount of snow they make let's them stay open much longer than most places. Even this year with the crazy warm weather they still opened in the beginning of December while ski resorts all over Idaho couldn't even open until almost a month later! The reservation system this year is perfect, now there's no more waiting in lines for a tube or risking that you won't get a spot. The staff is so friendly and helpful and is constantly doing anything they can to improve the park. Not to mention how much they are always giving back to our community! read more

The park was supposed to be open until March 31st. I bought a groupon deal at the end of February and took my kids there March 15th only to find it closed for the season. There was no mention of them closing on their facebook page, which is where they direct people to go for updates. I contacted the company and never even got an email back (unless you count a form email asking me to subscribe to their newsletter). So ridiculous. read more
