The Saturday morning front desk staff woman on the other hand, was friendly. My mom made a simple request asking if there was a remote to the TV in the lobby. She looked at me, and my mom suspiciously and strangely like we were crazy. "I have the remote" She said, frustrated. She told us she could only keep the TV on a news station. My mom asked her if she could change the news channel, she was hesitant but finally changed it. She was displeased with my mother and told her that was why we had our own TVS to use in our hotel room. My mom Was shocked and asked her again politely, as this seemed like a simple hotel Guest request, and no one else was even paying attention. Her attitude was surprisingly nasty. She told my mother never she had never had anybody complain about the news station in the public area. Reluctantly, she changed the channel. After me and my mom finished eating, we then checked out and my mom was still kind to this woman and thanked her for the hotel stay. It seemed inappropriate and unprofessional as we had traveled half way across the country for a family funeral. Fortunately, my mom ignored her behavior. The lady kept coming by every few minutes to see if we were still sitting there, probably to change the channel back/ which was creepy because the front desk is far away and there's no way she could could even see or hear the tv from there. Also no one else around really seemed to care. The whole situation was weird. We didn't say anything, we just checked out and left. The other hotel staff was really nice and helpful! We enjoyed our stay except for this one lady who seemed to have a bad attitude in general. Hopefully Holiday Inn doesn't promote this aggressive behavior to its other customers, but my mom and I looked at some other reviews and we did wonder.

What a real pain that becomes. The hotel however, remains very beautiful, staff represents the company well...this is perhaps the nicest hotel here in Graham. The morning breakfast is a typical HIX breakfast...I do wish they would shake it up a bit. There are no nearby breakfast venues so while it fills that need each morning...it is getting old...!!! Most certainly I will stay here again...I am very happy with my previous stays. I suspect there are some who complain just for the sake of complaining...listen, make up your own mind, I've made mine...good hotel, good room, great bed, HOT water, exercise room & outdoor pool...equals a good stay, and for me...a good nights sleep...!!!

The property is gorgeous and the sunsets are phenomenal. If you are looking to get out of the city for a while and would like a place to relax this is it. Our hotel room was comfortable and clean. The amenities are varied and fun. We took a hike which was great. The trails are well kept. We can't wait to visit again soon. Added plus was the restaurant which had a great selection and the food is fantastic!

That Saturday the temperature dropped about 40 degrees and the wind starting howling fiercely. Because of the weather we didn't get to participate in any outdoor activities, so I vowed we would make a return visit. Thanksgiving week of 2025, we got to bring our daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons for a return visit to Wildcatter. I knew the ranch had been bought by a young couple about a year previously who wanted to upgrade some of the tired aspects of the ranch, so we were excited to explore all the offerings and see what had changed. The Wildcatter Ranch is set on a hill with beautiful views. There is plenty to explore so it is perfect for boys who revel in the outdoors. There is a fishing hole, there are horses in the stable to ride, there is basketball, tetherball, hiking, a pool and hot tub, and there are longhorns to feed each morning. These are all great activities we partook in. They supply guests with fishing poles, basketballs and towels for the pool. My disappointment? On both trips to the ranch, in all 3 cabins, the fireplaces did not seem to be working. (this is 3 cabins of about 12!) The hot tub that they told us we could use? Not working. The 'pony' ride for my grandson who is under 10, the age required for horse rides, that was advertised for 30 minutes? It was a 15 minute guided walk around a field on a horse. The 'hour' trail ride lasted 50 minutes. The session to 'learn grooming and care for a horse'? All three of us were literally handed brushes, told how to walk around the back of a horse, then left standing next to one horse to brush. The optional activities were a bit short on what was advertised, though both boys said their time with the horses was their favorite part of the visit. The steakhouse prices had gone up quite a bit since 2022. We can highly recommend the biscuits, however. They are heavenly.

However, each night I had a great night sleep, and the room was perfect. Plus, for those that can sense things, I will have you know it was very peaceful atmosphere at the Magpie. Easy reservations on-line. Allot of communications via text if you needed anything for your stay. If I had anything negative to say which really isn't a negative just a preference. I would have loved to see the original wood floors instead of carpet but that is just me. I am not a big fan of carpet. I would HIGHLY recommend the Magpie! Go and RELAX!!!!

The breakfast was amazing, tasty, with 2 kind of eggs, bacon, parfait, Strawberries, kiwi, grapes, nuts, banana and cinnamon pastries, coffee and orange juice, we requested it into the room, it was very romantic (I came with my husband) 1 thing I will forever be super grateful is that in my mexican mind, a "detached bathroom" in a house would mean "detached from other rooms (like.. private to the room) upon arrival, our host wanted to made sure i meant to book a room with no bathroom inside... i messed up!! I would have never considered a romantic gateaway with my husband in a bedro with a bathroom outside!!! But it was my mistake, (which at that point I hadn't even realized) and she was so kind and went above and beyond to offer me a switch to another available room when I realized my terrible mistake, I cannot express how grateful I am!!!I completely recommend this great place!!!

I came out to Crazy Water Hotel for business expecting the usual "corporate sadness package" --…read morebeige walls, a bed that feels like a folded tortilla, and the faint smell of industrial carpet cleaner. Instead, I walked into what felt less like a hotel room and more like a stylish little Texas apartment I accidentally became emotionally attached to. First off: the room was enormous. Not "hotel enormous," where they add one chair and call it a suite. I mean a legitimate two-room setup with a kitchenette that made me briefly consider abandoning my responsibilities and moving in permanently. There was enough room to spread out work stuff, relax, and still have space left over to dramatically stare out the window like a man in an independent film trying to "figure things out." The separate rooms made the whole stay feel comfortable instead of cramped, and the kitchenette was such a great touch. There's something deeply luxurious about being able to make coffee or throw together a snack without balancing fast food on top of a suitcase. At one point I caught myself thinking, "I could absolutely survive here for several months if society collapsed." The bed was dangerously comfortable too. The kind of comfortable where you sit down "for just a second" and wake up confused about time, space, and whether you missed three meetings. The entire hotel balances historic charm with modern comfort perfectly. It feels classy without trying too hard -- like an old Texas building that got a glow-up but kept its personality. And the atmosphere? Incredible. Mineral Wells has this weirdly magnetic energy to begin with -- part old western town, part artistic hideaway, part wellness retreat -- and the hotel somehow captures all of it. You can feel the history in the walls without sacrificing comfort. Everything felt clean, polished, and intentionally designed. The staff were genuinely warm and welcoming too, which honestly stands out these days. Nobody acted rehearsed or robotic. It felt like people actually cared whether you enjoyed your stay, and that changes everything. By the end of the trip, I was looking forward to getting back to the hotel after work, which is something I've never once said during business travel. Usually business trips are just fluorescent lighting, bad coffee, and existential reflection in parking garages. This was different. If you're heading to Mineral Wells for work or a weekend away, stay here. The Crazy Water Hotel somehow manages to feel historic, stylish, peaceful, and genuinely memorable all at once. I came for business and left halfway convinced I should buy boots, open a bookstore, and start over nearby.

Entering into the lobby, I got a true appreciation for the restoration that was recently done bringing the hotel back to its 1920's luster. Beautiful woods and tiles, artifacts from the original grandeur, and of course, Crazy Water! I enjoyed my stroll through the lobby and in The Crazy Water Pavillion, also on the lobby level of the hotel. Today there was a market going on and the Pavillion was filled with an energy that seemed to blend with the energy of the building itself!
