This is the second time I hire Larry and his crew at Gateway Fence to do fence replacement for my properties. They do a great job and their fence look great and they stand up in the crowd with good quality. Their bid somehow comes at the lowest despite they do a great job, so I guess we are hitting the sweet spot with them. I am still going to get them again to do another bigger fence at the backyard, but i had to delay this a bit until end of Summer. So, I would definitely recommend them and you will thank me later! read more

I did my wood fence around my property in Davis with Gateway Fence and I really recommend them. They were very responsive with me from the beginning, we wanted to have a certain type of fence that is not really popular in Sacramento area and surroundings, but Larry worked with me to find the right style and right posts and specs that fit my ask. After a couple of iterations, we came to a nice style and specs. They came on time and they were ready and did a great job. The fence looks amazing and very sturdy. I called them a couple of time to handle a couple of things I found later and they were very quick addressing my asks. Within 24-48 hours I hear back from them and they go and fix the issues. Amazing response and I am very happy that I chose them for my job and will definitely call them again for any future fencing or gates. read more

After a 50+ mph wind blew a chunk of our fence down, we went looking for someone to replace it. We had someone come and at least prop the fence up, but these guys came recommended by a friend of ours. We had a quote from them and from someone else, and we went with these guys because for a few dollars more, they said they'd be reinforcing the posts with metal posts to help it stand up longer against durable storms. Larry and his helper showed up to our house about 11, and by 1:00, they were done. They were efficient, the fence looks great and stable, and we were incredibly happy. And yes, the metal piping inside will help it stay up longer. Definitely recommend. read more

Gateway was great! We got several fence quotes, but all of the companies were scheduling out months in advance and/or 1.5-2 times more expensive. Larry was quick to respond, give us an estimate, and take care of our small project (four sections of fencing in the front yard), all within two weeks! Gateway did a great job at a great price (especially considering the current national lumber supply issues). A few weeks later, after the fencing dried out, we sealed it. Now, it's the best looking fencing on the block! Five stars! read more

I've used Gateway twice in the past (2018 and 2021) with great results, but this year was much different. After a section of fence blew down in January 2024, I spent months calling, texting and emailing Larry (the owner) and Bob (the former owner and Larry's father-in-law) trying to get a quote. Neither responded to my attempts to contact them. I finally reached Larry by phone the first week of April and he said he would stop by on April 4 to provide me an estimate. He was a no show that day (didn't bother to call to notify me he wasn't coming) and I've been unable to reach him since. I'm through with him and am going with another fence contractor. read more

Just had Larry and crew replace 2/3 of our yard's fencing. Gateway is awesome! Scheduling was easy. Estimate was reasonable. Larry had a number of suggestions regarding the design and layout of the RV gate which made total sense - he certainly "knows his stuff". AND this was all done - takedown/haul away of old fence materials/prep and construction in ONE day! Awesome work - I also shared I think the backyard was a tad cleaner than when they arrived - the crew was wonderful about cleaning up! Would recommend Gateway to anyone needing a fencing company! read more

I needed repair for a 15 x 6 fence that got blown over during a storm. Larry was very responsive and sent a crew over right after the new year to replace beams and set the fence in concrete. Very good value, no B's and the workers were on time and professional. Definitely recommend read more

Trying to get a quote and have left multiple voicemails with no calls returned.

Fence blew down after the recent storm. Messaged them for an estimate and proceeded to call them per their request only to receive no answer and a voice message stating they are not taking estimates at this time due to their high call volume. Waste of time. read more

Overall...great choice for any fencing work you need done. The quotes Bob provided were very clear, easy to read and broken out for all sides/ neighbors. The price was very fair. It was a little hard to get a hold of/ returned messages from Bob. I am sure some of that is due to the busy season. But in general, the quote and negotiation process was very good. The crew that came out was courteous and professional. They made quick work of the removal of the old fence and installation of the new. We are very happy with the final product. read more

It was a pleasure working with Gateway Fence. Larry was prompt and fast to come to my property to review my fencing project. He provided me a fair and reasonable estimate and I hired him. I wanted the fence put in asap and it was completed the next business day. The crew were wonderful! Professional staff and great work. Bottom-line, prompt, fair, reasonable, great quality fence, great attitude and the fence looks awesome! What more can I ask for. I would use Gateway Fence again and I would highly recommend. read more

Where do I even begin, The crew was amazing. Alex is the team lead. They arrived prior to their start time and waited exactly until their start time to give me a call. It was all business, expedient and professional. They were very organized and everyone knew exactly what they had to do, everyone had their own task. Had it not been for the generator for their air compressor I would not even have noticed they were outside working in my yard tearing down and building a new fence. They did a complete tear down and rebuild of a 75' neighboring fence and our 7' gate in less than 3 and a 1/2 hours. They definitely went above and beyond And even fixed my neighbors gate they had just got, their gate and fence repaired on their other side of their neighboring fence was a horrible project, sad to say it was only put up less than 4 months ago. Plus they dugged up my side of the yard and helped us lay down the excess brick blocks we had lying around our yard & did it without us asking! How incredible is that! These guys were downright amazing I would definitely recommend Gateway Fence to anyone. Communication may be a little slacking, but just be patient it is worth the wait! Larry is extremely busy, but he will get back to you. James was my estimator, he was very professional, courteous and such a sweet young man. Gateway Fence definitely has the best prices in town. I did my research and inquired and received several other estimates of which others were up nearly close to $5000. No one can beat Gateway Fence's pricing or professionalism, let alone their AMAZING CREW! Thank you so much Gateway Fence! read more

Our fence has needed to be replaced for sometime but with one of the recent wind storms the back fence had a section go down and the rest was just falling apart. We had been trying to rig it with no help from the people behind us but was necessary since they have pit bulls. One day my little dog was able to get through and by the time I noticed it and yelled for him he can through soaked and a hole in is side and couldn't walk for days. At that point, we couldn't wait so I called Gateway and when they saw the picture of my injured dog they were here the next day measuring and actually called to see if they could come a week earlier that expected and even added some extra touches for my dogs safety. To top it off, they took down and put up over 60 ft including some trees we hadn't got a chance to trim and a small one that needed to be cut down in 3 hours!! No goofing off or being loud, I couldn't believe it! It feels so nice not to worry if the dogs want out. We will definitely be using them for the side section we need to do soon.. Thanks again Gateway crew from us and our furbabies. read more

Like many others my fence was on its last leg and I didn't do much to it to help keep it up... I mean what can you do to maintain a fence anyway? It's usually the posts that rot after x number of years, and mine was up for almost 30yrs so I consider myself lucky. Anyway the storm in January finally blew down a few weak posts so I started looking for fence contractors. My neighbor said her gardener could do it but I convinced her that a licensed pro was the way to go. Got a few bids, Gateway was among them, and the estimator James made a great impression so we put them on top of the list. Everyone is booking 2-3 months out because the storm created so much business. Then out of the blue Larry (Gateway's lead man) calls me and says they can do it next week!!! Of course we said YES and they were here at 7am with about 8 workers and had 130ft of fencing done by 2pm THE SAME DAY!!! Wow!!! Super efficient, cleaned up as much as possible (I personally filled 2-full greens recycling containers after they left but Larry did say they have to trim but can't take it away), wore masks, and totally professional! My hats off to Larry, James, Alex, and the rest of their crew for a job well done, and I absolutely recommend anyone who needs fence work to contact Gateway immediately! read more

Hands done the only people to call if you need fence work done! As we all know this winter had some the worst storms to hit Northern California for over a decade, fences falling all over the place. Bob answered his phone (FYI I called four people and one else answered the phone or called me back), set up a time to come out and give me a quote, arrived on time, the quote was clear and easy to read broken up between my neighbors. The crew arrived around 7:30 and was done by noon. Superior customer service after there was a miscommunication about how many rails there was suppost to be which is partially my fault since it was clearly stated on the estimate. The fence is awesome and highly recommend you give them a call! read more

Bob was great. He answered all our questions and provided extra information on products he would be using. He was able to get us into a cancellation and our fence was completed ahead of schedule. Wow, our fence looks incredible! After interviewing and receiving estimates from the top three local fence companies recommended, we selected Gateway Fence Company to install our new fence and gate, hoping we had made the right decision. The bonus was, not only did we make the right decision; Gateway's quote came in lower than the other two competitors! We are so pleased with the quality of products used, as well as the excellent workmanship demonstrated. Gateway's team put the necessary time and details into the project that made it "POP". As a result of inquires from neighbors and many others just passing by, I confidently refer them to Gateway Fence Company. The owner of the company, Mr. Grove, worked right along side his team. He was readily available to answer any questions during the installation. He and his team were flexible, patient, and respectful every step of the way! It was such a refreshing experience in today's world to see a team work successfully together and take such pride in their work. They didn't try to 'cut corners' or 'rip us off'. I can't say enough! Thank you Gateway for a job well done! read more

Bob and his team provided awesome customer service, and did beautiful work. My neighbors are all now coming to me asking who I used, and what his availability is. Speaking of which, availability really impressed me. I waited one week between quote and delivery. They replaced my back fence (60' section) and two front sections, both with gates. Only issue I have is that now my fence looks so good, I have to paint the house and make my front yard look better to match. It's a good problem to have. Awesome team, great business! read more

I sent at least 5 texts and at least 5 emails to the owner asking him to get back to me because my wife and I had some questions regarding a fencing project the had given us a quote for. He never responded. I finally called him on his phone, and asked him if he had received my emails and texts. He said, "yeah". That was it. No apology for not having gotten back to us....nothing. Not even a "kiss my foot". We never got to ask him our questions, much less get answers from him. It appears to us that he is too big to need our business. We went with another company that also gave us a quote because they treated us with courtesy. This company doesn't even offer common courtesy. read more

They started at the crack of dawn (sorry neighbors). I was shocked at how fast they removed the old fence and deck. I was even more shocked at the quality of materials they used and the exceeding expectations quality of their work. Even the gate latch, hinges and fence posts were top of the line. They scimpted on nothing! I am so happy I chose them. Oh, and they even added more planks to the deck because of unforseen damage and didn't raise the cost one cent. My fence looks just like the fence in their main picture on this site. read more

I had this company put in a red wood fence all around my backyard and they did an absolutely beautiful job. They were very efficient, affordable, and personable. Since then on two different occasions I have had the neighbors big dogs break several boards, leaving me worried they would get through . I highly recommend them and appreciate greatly their awesome service. read more

Our fence blew over during a wind storm a few weeks ago. I called three "fence guys" and only got two calls back. Bob was the first to respond. He looked at my fence and emailed a quote that night. Extremely professional. Bob showed up at the time he promised, ripped out the old fence, drilled new holes for posts (fighting with my rose bushes, sorry Bob) and had the new fence up, added a gate for the neighbors side and repaired our gate all before 1:00 pm. AND he put up with my 3 year old who took quite a shine to him (Just as an aside, my daughter doesn't talk to very many men including her uncles and her adult male cousin but for some reason she felt very comfortable with Bob. She showed him her painted nails, told him EVERYTHING about her friends at school and scored a block of wood. Poor Bob couldn't shake her.) Bob was very professional and very accommodating. As soon as we get the neighbor on the other side on board, I will be calling Bob back to replace the rest of our fence. I highly recommend Gateway Fence Co. read more

Bob replaced 3/4 of our backyard fence that was in utter disrepair. He also installed a new gate for us. Bob provided us with a quote which included a breakdown of cost of each portion of the project, and split costs for neighbors. This helped us start the conversation with our neighbors about sharing costs. One side was a good neighbor fence. He and his team did beautiful work. We had a 5 foot fence before for some reason and could see into our neighbor's yard and they into ours. Definitely improved our quality of life--now that we have more privacy because we have the standard 6 foot tall fence!
