I stayed this past weekend at the Gateway Canyons Resort and Spa for a wedding. From upon arrival, the service was exceptional. When a front desk associate heard that I just had a birthday, she said that she was going to send champagne to our room. She didn't just send champagne - She sent chocolate, candles and bath salts! I was blown away by the generosity! Every employee we encountered during our stay was friendly and helpful. They assisted with things being moved and made multiple trips with a cart so that family members could transport items to and from their casita. The location here is just extraordinary. There are 360 degrees views of the mountains. Our second floor room in the Kayenta Lodge had a beautiful view. I'm guessing that all rooms have nice views! The room was large and included a separate bathtub in the bathroom. We had a balcony with chairs and a fireplace. If you are lucky enough to stay in a casita you may have your own hot tub, table/chairs and a fireplace. The atmosphere of Gateway Resort and Spa feels very New Mexico Southwest. It's peaceful and beautiful. There is minimal light pollution which means you can see the stars! There are so many things to do at this resort. There are free bikes, a pool, a spa, a restaurant (great food!), a game room and hiking trails + extras like a helicopter tour, ATV tours and horseback riding. I can't wait to go back! read more

Overall this was a fun getaway and I am glad we came. With some refinements it is easily a 5 star stay. First I'll start with the good: - The views are incredible and although we didn't hike too much because of the weather, the trails are plentiful. - My kids loved renting bikes around the resort which are included in the fee. -The highlight of the trip may have been the horse ranch about 15 miles away toward grand junction. The kids (8 and 6) got to learn about how to care for horses and ride a couple of ponies. - rooms are really spacious and comfortable. Having a hot tub of our own was an added bonus. -meals at Paradox Grille were huge and food above average to very good overall. - great massage at the spa. - nice gym and fitness area - friendly and helpful staff To improve: -we were here during shoulder season and about half our time the weather was nice and the other half not so nice which we expected. On the rainy day there really wasn't much to do. The movie theatre was shut down, there were no exercise classes offered at the gym, and the spa, while excellent, did not have anything that would keep the kids entertained such as mani/pedis. While I hate seeing reviews mention tvs as I believe you should get out and away from tv on vacation, when we wanted to watch a movie on the rainy day, we found the tv small and also couldn't hook up to stream Netflix or Hulu. - while as mentioned the food at paradox was above average, the menu is limited and it was the only restaurant open, so we got a little bored of the food by the last day. Overall a fun trip and time and I would return. With some tweaks to the offerings and experience this is easily a 5 star stay. read more

An absolute wonderful birthday escape! The resort itself was amazing but the best treat was the spa experience. From the moment we walked in, we felt completely at ease. Wow we've come here for years and this place has gone downhill. Our fireplace was broken, door handle broken, people at the front were rude, and one restaurant open with poor service. It's so sad to see this beloved place fall apart - as that's what's happening. Hope someone fixes it soon before it's damaged beyond repair. Breath taking we stayed 4 days 3 nights. Total phenomenal. We got 3 canceled reservations but they were able to recover by giving us other awesome activity options. It's very deserted no phone signal wifi is only available in your room and available in a few places with low range. It's good for retreat total relaxation. read more

Great place overall, coming here was a nice change of pace given the location and uniqueness of the surrounding mountain area. Lots of gorgeous views and being so remote you can find a certain peace away from the crazy. One of the more harder to get to resorts I've been to, but worth the trip. Few opportunities to improve: - Rooms need to be updated, little dated look. - Better on-site snacks service, do bring your own. - Food options could be better. - Def bigger tv is needed. Other than that this place is really fun and I would go back. Hope they keep up and improving, would recommend checking this place out. read more

5 Star views and a 5 star rating for the staff! Jeanette at the front desk is most accommodating , both Sina's at the poolside bar (Both from Turkey, both quite pleasant to gaze upon) tended to us. We tried items off the new menu, Shrimp cocktail, guacamole, outstanding cocktail sauce. Breakfast at Paradox was outstanding, sit outside if you can. Entrada for dinner, another outstanding experience. Foie Gras was mouthwatering. A friend had never tried it and was so delighted that I shared. He's darn lucky he is such a great friend... we had the grouper as a main dish and just typing this I'm salivating! The spa was delightful as well. Lori gave me one of the best deep tissue massages I've ever had. I'll have to admit, I am a super spa snob... kudos to Tippy as well who greeted us at the entrance to the spa. She's very patient. 1 star for location. 1 star for staff and maintenance trying to salvage this laughable stay. For the price, I expect more. And you try to charge us for your shortcomings? Hilarious. You should be comping us, not charging us. We even left a night early and ate the cost cause this place is a joke. Get to the room, fireplace doesn't work, awesome. (maintenance did fix this, props) Hot tub, more like warm tub. Back door handle fell off. Seriously, toothpicks fell out with it. Someone tried to repair it with toothpicks (not kidding). (maintenance again fixed it at least) Front door chain barely hanging on #security Morning sandwich, sausage was almost raw. Burger at the pool also undercooked. Risotto was tasty, but the hair in it put an end to that quickly. They did throw in a free drink and desert (one of the few wins here). $71 for the tenderloin but I make a better tasting steak on my grill. For the love of all things get some fresh water moving through the property (or better drainage). The still water areas smelled like death. Walking dogs around the property? Watch out for the random holes and broken sprinkler box covers. Bartender did make some good drinks and the wait and pool staff were friendly. Rest of the stay was laughable. Spent four nights here over Thanksgiving 2020. Restaurants were closed due to COVID but they would deliver meals to your room. Can't say enough great things about this experience. These are the friendliest people we've ever encountered at a resort. From Steve who took us trap shooting, Matt who took us on our hike and Heather who took us horseback riding. We had an unbelievable time. Even the Thanksgiving dinner was exceptional. We will definitely be back!!!! read more

You have options. Those would be to stay at a place that is both respectful and considerate, not dismissive. I cannot begin to tell you how I, as a minority, was meant to feel at this resort by the activities team. I complained and asked to speak to the GM Tim Johnson with multiple employees ... no call. In fact, his employees scoffed at me stating he's a hard man to get a hold of. All that being said, I left and drove as far away as I could with my family to a resort with impeccable care for guests. Listen, when you spend top dollar you expect Four Seasons type service, respect and care. When you are as remote in Colorado as this resort you have few options. Recommendation, spend your hard earned dollars at a resort that treats you with respect, follows-up, trains their team appropriately to know information on activities, respond appropriately when mistakes happen and provides a true resort experience. There are plenty out there wanting your business. Forget the drive to Gateway Canyons and go find some with similar experiences in Arizona, Utah or anywhere out West. read more

I am amazed such an amazing place exists in the middle of nowhere. Thanks to the international travel ban we decided to check out this place as a consolation vacation. We are a family of four and we loved it and can't wait to go back. There were six swimming pools. Since we have two small kids we opted for a suite with a fire pit instead of having to lifeguard the small kids with a hot tub suite. The hot tub room would've been a great option for social distancing if the kids were older. The food was good and we were happy with the kids food menu. I was worried we'd run out of things to do and it turned out we couldn't do everything we wanted during our four night stay! We liked looking for frogs and watching the hummingbirds. Of course things have changed and second quarter of 2020 and the staff seemed to handle everything well; Lee was super helpful as was Eleanor at the restaurants. It was great to have takeout food options. We went for drive on a dirt road to Utah. John Hendricks definitely knows what is up! Highly recommended! Amenities include: a frisbee disc golf course, ATV tours, a horseback riding ranch about 15 miles away, hiking trails, archery, shooting range, fire pits and drinks! read more

The place is definitely in decline. Car museum is now only open Thursday afternoon through Sunday - ( we were there Mon-Wed.). Staff admitted all of the really interesting cars are gone anyway. Tried to get directions to the hiking trails - sketchy at best. Trails are not marked, so it is an exercise in interpreting vague, bad maps and guesswork in order to do a hike. Place is covered in cobwebs including the outdoor dining area. Booked a horseback ride, but they couldn't guarantee it would be available on the day we went. Finally got it confirmed - expensive. Nice ride and trail guide, but then at checkout we were charged a daily resort fee (when half the activities were not available), and then on top of that an additional undefined $100 fee on a $500 horseback ride for two people. What was the resort fee for????? We got no directions to the stables until we just happened to come to the front desk to get a new key that morning. THEN we were told it was a 20 minute drive away. No problem other than we were told the stables were at the back of the property. We would have been standing there wondering what was going on when nobody showed up? Only good things 1) though main restaurant is no longer open, chef at the grille is really good. Room was nice. Overall - do not spend your money to go here. There are a lot better places at this price. read more

Beautiful resort, very friendly and helpful staff, and the food was AMAZING (I ate at Paradox for every meal since Entrada was closed when I visited the resort). I got to meet Russel, a head chef for the resort, and thanked him for the absolutely amazing food. I usually don't go to dining at resorts and hotels since I find the food to be sub-standard, but the food was very reasonably priced and beyond my expectations (which are pretty dang high). The room was very nice and the private hot tub was clean. It was quiet at night so I could sleep, although I went at a less-than-busy time, so not sure if that means the insulation and sound-proofing was good or if I just didn't have any neighbors... I would come back again for the food and gorgeous views! And I hope Russel stays at Gateway Canyons for all my future visits ;) Finally, I was very impressed that literally every staff member I interacted with my entire trip was friendly and helpful. I could definitely tell this was a place where the staff is treated well by management - you can tell when that's not the case! read more

Just spent Thanksgiving weekend at Gateway Canyons. Room rates were reasonable which make it a good choice. The resort and the grounds are amazing, and the drive south on CO 141 was unforgettable. While the site is amazing, the resort has some rough edges that should be addressed. Some specifics -- One server (Paradox Restaurant Wednesday and Friday night and Thanksgiving dinner) was wearing such strong perfume it made us choke every time she passed by. The Thanksgiving dinner was a huge disappointment. While the menu looked amazing, the execution was mediocre. The room dinner was served in was way too bright and provided no atmosphere. And, the music was TERRIBLE!!! It was a range of hip hop and Sinatra era. Not, fine dining background! The maitre de did not appear to have fine dining experience. Overall, the staff is great. Couple favorites are Matt (bartender) and the staff person at the museum. They really know how to connect with clients and make them feel special. The housekeeping staff were so pleasant and accommodating, also. We enjoyed our weekend at Gateway Canyons overall and do think there are some rough edges that would serve the resort to smooth out. That said, we will recommend it to others and provide context of our experience to set their expectations appropriately. read more

I'd like to preface this review by noting that, despite a few rough-around-the-edges issues this resort had (limited restaurants and hours, unpleasant meals, etc.), the grounds were outstanding and the service was a pleasure. Months before even checking in to the resort, I spoke with Chloe numerous times to arrange for flowers to be delivered to the room, and to ask about activites, and she was always extremely helpful and patient. She was very professional and the exact person you'd hope would answer a call if you had questions about an experience. I'd like to also mention Mack, our awesome UTV-and-nature-guide-in-one; Cory, who we learned was responsible for many of the cute complimentary activities; Claire, a manager at the Paradox who was attentive and genuinely cared about whether we liked a meal or not (commenting if something had been left behind); and Bruno, the worker at the Palisade Ranch who was very kind. There were also many servers (Sean, Rachel, and others whose names I didn't catch) who were awesome and did their best. All of these people really contributed to us enjoying the resort and smoothing out the rough edges. The only unpleasant experiences at the resort really just included the dining situation: long waits at the restaurants, the barside restaurant closing very early (at 6, even though it was the only place with casual food) and limited menu options. These issues would make a long stay at this resort unpleasant, but for a short stay, it could be tolerated. The natural beauty of the canyons surrounding you more than makes up for it, and the paradisaical landscaping and quiet privacy of the grounds completed the experience. I am only giving it 3 stars instead of 4 because I also experienced an emergency at the resort, which I've detailed on another platform. **Edited to include my emergency situation, which is why I lowered it to two stars* In August 2021, I visited Gateway Canyons with my family for my sister's birthday, and everything was great (except for the food, to be honest) until we hopped on for the resort's horseback ride activity. We were barely 10 minutes down the trail when I was thrown by the horse I was on, Lil Buck, and all hell broke loose. The only worker there with us rushed back and forth to get meds and try to contact the resort with a spotty radio, Lil Buck was off to the side eating, and my family and the other family with us were super anxious about being left alone (though the other horses were calm). Once our guide finally did contact the resort, the resort called for an ambulance, and after some misdirection, the ambulance finally arrived after about an hour and a half. After I returned from the hospital, the resort wanted me to meet with their head of security. The guy had me write down everything that happened, gave me a copy of the waiver, and made no promise about whether we'd be charged for the activity or not -- he said something non-committal, like, "We don't usually charge when things like this happen." And lastly, as icing to the cake, he said, "This may have gone better if the ambulance got there quickly." So, he was throwing the EMTs under the bus despite the resort's sub-standard emergency protocols. Pretty tasteless. They didn't confirm that we wouldn't have to pay for the activity until checkout. So, no, I would NOT recommend Gateway Canyons in the case of an emergency. In what was an extremely high-stress moment that, frankly, makes me not want to get near another horse for a long time, Gateway Canyons treated me like a liability instead of a guest. I'm just glad my injuries weren't much worse. read more

first things first, we will not be returning to this resort. What a let down! From miss handling our reservation, to barely edible food, even are up charged, advertised room features had issues. The only redeeming thing about this resort is the view, but save yourself literally hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, pack a lunch and head to Grand Junction or Montrose. Came here with my sister from Ohio. I've been here before, but wanted her to see the beauty of Gateway. Thought nice little drive, with a great lunch experience. Wrong! The food was terrible. Beet Salad was made from canned beets for sure, and my Ceaser was made out of thinly sliced lettuce that you would use on taco's. Dressing tasted like watered down mayonnaise and don't forget the four anchovies on top. No we did not eat our lunch! Very disappointed! Server could see we didn't eat. Never asked if everything was ok, just brought out the check. Hated leaving a 10.00 tip for lousy food and service that wasn't much better. Maybe next time will be better! read more

The resort is so not worth it. I stay in hotels 100+ days a year on business and Gateway Resort was nowhere near its billing or price (we paid around $1,200 a night for two rooms). We thankfully stayed for 24 hours but I'd otherwise feel ripped off. First, scenery and canyons are visually impressive but it's only worth stopping by for lunch and moving on. Here is what we encountered in our 24 hours: - we arrived around 1pm (knowing that check-in was to 4pm). They said they'd call soon as room was ready. Never called. Then they said they did and left a voicemail. There was no VM, and no record of call (they had verified my number too). - I started calling at 4 pm to confirm the room was ready. It took over :25 minutes to get through to anyone (lots of weird fails with their phone system). They finally answered, would not connect me to the front desk, just said I had a guaranteed 4pm and to just go to the front desk. - I kept thinking place feels 8-10 years past a needed remodel (just felt dated, mold in shower grout, out of style) only to hear that the place was built new in 2012 (oops) - the lobby is boring, no place to get a drink, or to relax. Or even to just sit and relax. The bar there seemed abandoned. Net, had the check-in feel of a motel. - the website said pet friendly, so we brought the dog (I think dogs are now standard at nice hotels). Front desk told us dogs were ok in different places but people manning those places yelled at us for even assuming a dog could go there. When we said 'sorry, front desk said ok', their retort was a sharp "I'll call the front desk right now". Felt like there was some tension in the place oddly enough. - overall, i found the place to feel dirty. Concrete and walkways were stained and dirty. Outside dining did not feel clean at Paradox. Tables mismatched, and dusty. Just not nice for a 4 star place. - Breakfast at Paradox took :50 minutes to get french toast. Staff was nice though. Not overly friendly (again, felt like tension) but nice enough. Some food was good and well-presented. Some was not. - rented mountain bikes. that was easy. But the trails were ungroomed and super dangerous. - the horseback ride was:45 minutes late - Pool (the large one) was nice. Other felt dirty and out of date. That said, a very nice woman brought us a bottle of water, un-expected. Very nice. - there was no helicopter service given covid they said. But this is my one big pet peeve. They did not have coffee (or breakfast) until 7:30. There is no coffee in the lobby. For us from east coast, that means we just were hungry until 9:30 am. There was a cheap coffee maker in the room with some weird, off-brand pods. But there was so much sentiment in the first cup of coffee, we did not want to drink. Nice guy at the front desk at 5:30 am said he'd get me a new coffee maker, even said "it's right out of the box". I was wow, that was nice (he did not have more coffee pods or more fake cream things). however, I opened that coffee maker and it was far from new and had a layer of dirt in it. Hell, Hilton Garden Inn has coffee early and all day. With cream. Sure, it's Covid times so maybe they just aren't making money. But I see too that John Hendricks is trying to sell the area for $270 million. Maybe it's that. Net, I felt a need to warn others with this detailed review. If you'd charged less, I'd have moved on. But at that price, people need to know. read more

After our complaint of not giving us our long requested rooms, the management bent over backwards to make us happy. I LOVE this resort. We have traveled all over the world and this one is tops. Casitas are fabulous and the hiking GREAT. After the heavy foot traffic of Zion and Arches it was a pleasure to come to a beautiful quiet valley. read more

OK. 5 +++++ stars. We randomly chose a Saturday night to head up to this resort, for a change of scenery. It was us (2 adults) and our 6 year old son. We arrived early Saturday (11am) and the hotel had no problem getting our room ready right away. We went over to have food while we waited. Service was prompt and friendly. I always judge a place by how they treat my son, as he comes everywhere with me and we travel ALOT. This place had outdoor jenga, bad mitten, a kaleidoscope, tons of space to run around and several other outdoor games. When our room was ready we unloaded and then went on an ATV tour that came with the resort fee. Our guide was so accommodating and funny and not to mention knowledgeable. He quickly learned that we were wanting all the adventures and when we returned from the tour, he called to get us set up for anything possible. He took us to see the frogs and huge tad poles, and that evening we went and star gazed. We were able to enjoy some pool time and all three of us enjoyed pina coladas (virgin for our 6 year old, obviously). We dined at the restaurant on site and although we weren't thoroughly impressed with the food there, it was quickly made up with the brunch the following Sunday. The food and beverage manager went out of his way to provide A+ service Sunday after he had briefly over heard our dilemma with the food the night before. I will say, they do have a new chef so we are excited to try again. Our waiter, he was part of a husband and wife team and he was just dashing. Never forgot anything we asked for, made sure EVERYONE was happy and was genuine. One thing I always notice and appreciate is when employees are truly happy with where they work. Every single person we met was an all star. Don't forget to visit the Car museum, kids are also very welcome there! We will absolutely be back. We are speechless... We got married in a very small, family-only wedding at Gateway Canyons Resort a few days ago. Yes, the wedding was great and the staff was incredible before, during, and after, but this review definitely covers the entirety of our 4 night stay. This place is unbelievable. You can't pay for views like this anywhere. We could not stop talking about how incredible their staff is. Every employee at every restaurant, coffee bar, the bartenders, and house keeping were so SO good to us. Those who helped plan and coordinate the wedding (Katharina) were AMAZING and so helpful. If you get a chance to go, GO! The pool days were great, bike rides through the canyon were unreal, a long hike up the canyon was amazing at sunrise, and we finished the week with a UTV tour which was a bukcet list type experience. We were fortunate to take advantage of the discounted winter rates. The hotel is very nice and the staff is friendly. It was very quiet and peaceful there. Due to Covid, we had to dine in the ballroom. That wasn't ideal. The food was luke warm and they didn't have a lot of options. And no bread. As far as things to do, unlimited outdoor activities for summer. And we were able to hike and join the outdoors during the winter. read more

We stayed here May 9 and May 10. We had looked forward to our getaway and the resort by all the pictures, etc. looked perfect. It is beautiful at first blush, but then it all turned downward. They have two restaurants, but only one is open at a time. Three entrees, but unless you like elk or trout you are limited even more. Sunday night we had dinner at Entrada. Beautiful trappings, and the compressed watermelon salad was a delight. We each ordered the 16 OUNCE RIB EYE STEAK. After waiting 45 minutes, while other guests were served even though they had arrived after us, we finally got our steaks. Apparently they had run out of steak as well. We each got a steak that was maybe 1/2 inch thick. It was blatantly obvious a 16 ounce steak had been sliced in half to fill our order. We declined dessert, which they said was boxed for us to make up for such a poor dinner service. Who knows what they had decided to give us. We then wanted a cocktail to help the memory of dinner go away, but as I mentioned before the other restaurant was not open and both close somewhere between 8:30 and 9:00. No liquor store in Gateway. Unfortunately we had to return to Entrada for breakfast Monday morning. The couple next to us had a problem with their eggs, but had waited too long and just wanted to get back on the road. They said their stay had been a major disappointment. We agreed after leaving and knowing we weren't the only ones. Monday night we had an excellent meal at Paradox, even though we only had three choices. AND for the first time since our arrival tipped 20%. I simply can't remember the last time I tipped less than 20% or not at all. On more than one occasion we had to ASK for napkins and flatware. We paid $1585.00 for our two night stay. We should have gone to the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. They truly know how to make your stay memorable. The car museum is amazing, but that's it. We left with the feeling this is a failing property and their prices and service reflect what they once were. Look, but DO NOT STAY! I forgot to mention the Eggs Benedict. They prepare theirs with a thick slice of tasteless ham, not Canadian Bacon. Who does that? read more

We came here years ago but it still made a lasting impression. The auto museum was gorgeous and so interesting that my father and son could have happily stayed there for hours mesmerized by the one of a kind collection. We also got to paint horses and they also had a zorse at the nearby ranch. The food was amazing, the staff was wonderful and the view was gorgeous. I hope to go back next time we are in grand junction, as I have been to many spa/ resorts/ etc, this was the best by far. read more

Terrible service. We had booked this hotel prior to the mudslides and we're unable to get to the resort. After talking with management they would not work with me and kept half the deposit despite a state of emergency. They were disrespectful and not empathetic to the situation. The Friday before Mother's Day I called to make a reservation for lunch at one of the Gateway restaurants. The young woman I spoke with indicated that there was only one restaurant available for lunch, Paradox Grill, and they did not take reservations. It would be first come first serve. Based on that call, I took my 87 year old mother for a drive from Grand Junction and a nice lunch. We decided to go on Saturday instead of Sunday since it might be easier to get a table. The hour drive from Grand Junction was nice and once we got there, a terse woman at the front desk at the resort asked if she could help us. We told her that we had come to the Paradox Grill for lunch. She said they were closed. I explained I had called they day before and the person I spoke with didn't say anything about the place being closed. She condescendingly asked if we had specifically said when we were coming? I had not but how many people call to make reservations for lunch weeks in advance. Why wouldn't the person not the phone mention they were closed. The terse woman at the front desk then said the entire resort was booked for the entire weekend by a private party and had been for months. Again...my question, why wouldn't she have said this on the phone, the entire staff at the resort must have known the resort was closed for the whole weekend? The front desk woman NEVER apologized and didn't seem to care we had driven an hour for lunch only to find there wasn't any place to eat. I was so disappointed that a nice Mother's Day lunch at a beautiful resort was ruined. Gateway has certainly changed from the time they first opened. In the beginning it was a fun and relaxing getaway. Now it is apparently catering to only the elite and not regular people. My husband and I were married there 12 years ago and have gone back on several occasions. Each time the service is worse, staff is not only unfriendly but rude. This was the final straw. I won't be coming back to Gateway. If you can afford to book the entire resort, you may have a better experience than my mom and I did. If you can't, I'd suggest passing on this place. gotta give it to john hendricks for finding such a remote and breathtaking site and establishing a resort out in the middle of nowhere! this is truly an amazing brainchild of the Discovery channel founder. astonishing resort with stunning canyon views. service was great from the start, from the airport pick up in grand junction to checkout the resort service was exceptional, 5 star service definitely on par with the Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons. according to our guide the resort hires college students from around the world so you will get to meet people from all around the globe! the rooms were large and well kept, we enjoyed our suite and comfortable bed. Our balcony overlooked the canyons and came complete with a fire-pit! lots of activities to do on site, check out the automobile museum or the adventure center where you can sign up for activities like horse back riding, skeet shooting, fly fishing, hiking, or ATVing. there's even have a spa on site for a little pampering. we enjoyed skeet shooting and ATVing around the canyons, both came with a guide and both guides provided in depth training and knew a lot about the history of the canyons and the surrounding areas. several restaurants on site serving up delicious food, the servers were friendly and easily accommodated our request for take out so we can enjoy the amazing 360 degree views. great resort in the middle of nowhere, great place to truly unwind and connect with nature and still be in the comforts of a 5 star hotel! read more

I will echo other reviewers-my experience here was almost identical in the good and the bad. Also like other reviewers, because of COVID-19, we did an old fashioned Colorado road trip for our vacation this year. This is an easy drive from Denver and it feels like a different landscape. We had a lovely room with an outdoor fireplace and jacuzzi. The room was a little outdated but it was clean and the patio was lovely. Worth the price we paid?? I'm just not sure. It was incredibly expensive and you just couldn't help but feel like there were just no other options since there is literally nowhere else to go. We tried both restaurants, the cafe and the pool bar. Can I say I liked the pool bar the best??? That's where we had the best service!!! Also just a super nice pool, great views, socially distanced and clean. Entrada was....just ok. We had great service but the food was subpar. Also beware vegan/veggies you will have to ask for something off menu. The breakfast cafe had these bummer little muffins and like nothing else as a snack unless you want beef jerky for breakfast. All in all we had a nice weekend but everything just felt overpriced. Definitely hit up the hiking though-it was so beautiful and my favorite part!!! read more

This review is for the restaurant. Ate here this weekend and it was quite enjoyable. Had the veggie burger and it and the fries were really good. I appreciated the phonetic translations for some of the food items! Ex: Quesadilla (kay-sa-DEE-yah) I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be as funny as it was. Other then that it looks like a funny place to "get away from it all" and as soon as it is fully up and running there will prob be a lot of fun outdoorsy things to do. read more

Our stay at Gateway Canyons is almost over and i feel i would be remiss not to update my review. Yes, communications with the resort were a bit rough before we arrived , but i think in the future it would be best just to call the front desk & have them arrange things. Once we arrived the staff was sooooo fantastic! Laid back yet fun, attentive but not smothering. Just great! The grounds are beautiful & the Casita was gorgeous. House cleaning was sweet & did a great job. The food at the Cafe & Restaurant was good. Try one of their cocktails! The adventures were so much fun - David did an awesome job with skeet shooting, the adventure center staffed rocked it, especially Nick, and the front desk was so helpful - Tammy was wonderful & Renata was always checking the weather for us. The Baja Truck experience my hubby absolutely loved! Jeff & Bunk really love what they do and it shows. And yup, the hubby already wants to return. If you love cars, outdoor sports or just want to relax in beautiful surroundings with people that go out of their way to ensure your enjoyment, stay here. read more

I'm just reviewing, the car museum. It is simply fantastic and world class by any standards. The lighting and presentations are dramatic. I snapped a few pics, enjoy! The "hands on " exhibitions are lame, but who cares? Car guys certainly don't. Don't expect to see classic Bugattis or Ferraris here, this museum is strictly dedicated to the evolution of the American automobile, from its earliest days through the muscle car era. These pictures really don't do these cars justice, so make a day of it and take the drive through a beautiful, rarely visited valley to see them in person. This ride is hugely popular with motorcyclists (and at least one scooterist), so keep an eye out for them through the windshield of your future classic. read more

Gateway Canyon is full of beautiful views and grounds. That's about it. Our room did not have a balcony, was on the 2nd floor with no ice and no elevator, and there was nothing they could do about our room situation even with the resort being at about half the capacity. There was only one restaurant open the entire time and we were stuck in the middle of nowhere with only one option. The pool bar closed very early, even though the website said 7:00. We were told to request cleaning service and when we did our coffee cups/coffee and supplies were not cleaned or replaced and our room was not vacuumed. The spa and most other amenities were not open and we did not receive any compensation. We were very disappointed at the price compared to what we actually received for this very expensive getaway. read more

Gateway Canyons went above and beyond and exceeded our expectations. Surrounded by red rock, this stunning remote location has everything you need to unwind. We had our wedding here and couldn't have chosen a better location, our guests had nothing but great things to say about their stay. We enjoyed the auto museum, great food, and the on-premises trail system. Our guests also loved the spa with three types of home made granola. We will be coming back! read more
