Thanks to Jay and his team of experienced professionals, we are happily in our new home with all our furniture BETTER than it was! How can that be? Jay saw that the stain on our dresser was chipped during an earlier move and he repaired it, on the spot for us! Also, we had purchased felt circles to put on the furniture legs later so we wouldn't scratch our new wood floors. He and his men took the time to put those in place for us so I could easily rearrange the furniture later or move it to clean without worry. And, they were fast, worked through lunch without stopping, and were polite and pleasant. They were not only prompt, fast, and careful but they were even helpful before my move and brought me moving supplies before my move! My last move took 12 hours with 3 men. Jay's quoted flat-rate price was increased ''because it did not include tax." This is very dishonest practice and unfortunately I did not know this at the time. Looking back I have never been charged tax by movers because it is considered a service. It was only later that I realized there is no tax for services - like haircuts, moves, etc... Due to this dishonesty (and the fact that they drilled unnecessary holes in my furniture that they should not have) I will never use or recommend this company again. read more

I would give fifteen or twenty stars if I could - to Jay the owner + the team of Milan, Milk, Mustafa and Pudi. My 84 and 85 year old parents were moving from their house into an independent living villa about six miles away - and I was trying to make arrangements for movers and everything from home in California before flying to Jacksonville to get them safely into their new place. This was not going to be a "whole house, pack everything" type of move - my brother and I were going to be moving whatever lighter furniture that we could move in his truck ourselves - I was going to be making trips between places in a hatchback car - and the really fragile stuff that would take awhile to pack was going to wait until the next week. We needed pro movers to move just certain heavy pieces of furniture/chairs, mattresses and box springs, some boxes (and a freezer too !) - but the most important thing was an acoustic piano that my parents had bought with money from my dad's parents like fifty or sixty years ago. I found Gate Parkway Movers on Yelp and loved their reviews and contacted Jay through the website giving him the background of what we needed to have moved and asking if it sounded like something his company would like to do. He responded back really quickly and after trading another email back and forth, we talked on the phone. I was really impressed with the initial response time and with Jay's manner when we talked. I explained that there wouldn't be any packing of dishes or little figurines or expensive art or anything - that we would hopefully have everything already wrapped and padded and stacked up in one room so all they would have to do was just walk in, load it out of the old residence and then drive over and load into the new place. I told him too that these belongings were special and sentimental to my parents - irreplaceable - sort of their whole life together - even though they weren't super expensive - and Jay was so respectful and totally understood the situation. From the previous reviews, you can tell that this company can either work by hourly rate (with a two hour minimum) or give flat-rate quotes. I decided really fast to make it an hourly move instead of even trying to get a flat-rate quote because there was no way to tell ahead of time exactly what my parents would end up wanting to take. Because of the piano, Jay advised three movers instead of two - we were surprised but happy when five movers showed up on moving day - the move went faster because of it for sure. Jay's communication was excellent, from the first time we emailed all the way through to moving day. He was able to let us adjust the start time for the move - it was originally going to be at 8am but we were able to switch things around and get a later morning start time instead - which worked out great because my mom was still in their bed (which was going to be moved) at 8am ! By the time the movers arrived at 11am, we had almost everything staged in the living room close to the front door and they started loading out immediately while Tim and I dismantled the bed and wrapped/padded the bedroom furniture and moved it out to where they were working. This team of Jay, Milan, Milk, Mustafa and Pudi were friendly and worked fast - they were motivated, professional, very careful with my parents' belongings and very nice to work with throughout this move. We had done our best to make it smooth and easy for them and they sure did make a great experience for us. Everything was loaded out, transported to the new villa and loaded in in less than an hour and a half from the time their truck hit my parents' driveway - the prep we did in advance saved a ton of time and money and the way these five guys worked together just added to the speed and smoothness. I had told Jay beforehand that Tim and I would reassemble the furniture once it was in the new place - that they could just drop and go - but the team was great in placing the furniture exactly where we wanted it and Milk even took the time to reassemble my parents' bedframe and put the box spring and mattress onto it - saying he could do it so fast - and it was really fast. I didn't ask or even hint - it was totally his idea and he insisted ! All of these guys were so kind and polite to us and to my parents - who hadn't moved since 1968 and were overwhelmed at the whole process - they had never seen a move like this before. Tim and I recommend Jay and Gate Parkway Movers without reservation - we have moved thirteen times since 1985 and this is one of the nicest moves we've ever had. If my parents decide not to stay at this new villa of theirs (it's a rental !) and want to return to their house, there's no question which company we would hope is available to move them back. read more

I hired these guys because I was tired of other companies trying to rip me off for the small move I had. Gate Parkway Movers was half the price, but definitely double the quality of those other guys. They went out of their way to help me get furniture from the store and had my move done FAST. They won't take long breaks or move slow to charge more, they work hard and truly just want to help and care about the customer. They are on time and have all the equipment needed for moving. Overall, I am extremely disappointed with these movers as they left more than half of my personal belongings including kitchen necessities, boxes of pots and pans, utensils, and random things for us to move. So now my husband and I are going back and forth and filling our cars wasting trips to bring the leftovers to our new house. It is a huge inconvenience especially for the price we paid. I will never recommend these movers to anyone. For all the things we had to move ourselves, we could have saved $550 and done it ourselves. Think wisely before you hire these guys!
