I think this is my favorite classic Dutch "fast food" restaurant in Amsterdam, mainly because my mother grew up in Holland and she always used to talk about eating steak tartare broodje with hard boiled egg, onion and mayonnaise in the 1950s. Their homemade steak tartare broodje is outstanding. The homemade Dutch pea soup is only available during cold months and it's also fabulous. In summer they have a mushroom soup, but I haven't tried it yet. If you wanna be really Dutch, order a glass of buttermilk with your broodjie. They also have regular milk and lots of soft drinks. It's just classic and delcious traditional Dutch food; really good and so fresh and you can watch it being made. Everyone that works here is also so nice. Try the kipsaté croquette which tastes like a Thai saté stick. Don't forget the yellow mustard. The server may tell you it makes it taste even better. So fun to sit at the bar counter inside, and they do have a few tables outside for sunny days. I love the decor, the funny expressions about croquettes on the tiles, and the super 1950s black-and-white photos from the restaurant on the walls. This is such a wonderful place and every time I come to Amsterdam I make a pilgrimage here.
