My appointment was scheduled for 6:00 a.m., and they ask patients to be punctual. However, the facility did not open until approximately 6:03 a.m. Even though they knew several people were waiting outside very early in the morning, instead of opening the doors so patients could wait inside the waiting room, the staff would look outside and still chose to leave people waiting outside at that hour. In addition, although appointments are scheduled, in practice, it seems that patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis, without truly respecting the appointment time. They also schedule several people for the same time, creating extremely long waits. Based on my previous experience, the wait was not 30 or 40 minutes -- it was several hours. Another very inconvenient issue is that there is no parking available for patients. Their explanation is that, according to their policy, the parking area is for patients. But those of us who have medical appointments are also patients, so that explanation makes no sense. Additionally, if a person decides to leave because of the poor service or the way they are treated, apparently they may still be charged a penalty for not canceling 72 business hours in advance. In other words, the patient is expected to tolerate the waiting, the lack of organization, and the poor treatment -- or face a penalty. I believe a healthcare institution should provide more humane, organized, and respectful service, especially when it comes to patients' time and treatment. My experience has been terrible, and I do not recommend this place.

When I arrived I was checked in fairly quickly but then the wait started. It took about an hour to get called out from the waiting room. But once I was called back the doctor came very quickly. He was personable and was able to identify my issues and provide guidance on next steps. Part 2 I have to go to a surgery center to get the colonoscopy. I walked in and felt like I was in Havana. The staff did not transact in English. The girl at the front desk was not very professional as we could hear here personal conversations with other staff members from the waiting area. I luckily am bilingual but I worry for my friends who are not that they would be able to get the same level of care/communication. Dr. Valladares was the only person who spoke to me in English all day. He explained the procedure and what to expect next. Post-op he came and talked to me about the findings. I think the doctor is good and knowledgeable. I didn't rate him based on the surgery center service as that would have been less than 3 stars but that is not his staff.
