This office has some of the WORST etiquette, the billing department quotes higher than the insurance, and follow-ups/responses are non-existent. The billing department is trying to charge me more than my OOP. They are refusing to change it. You have to stick to one person unless another one decides to accept you. The first person I went to was incompetent and rude. The second one improved after a bad review. However, I still figured out my own problem which led to a diagnosis after I requested the study be performed. The icing on the cake was that a DIFFERENT specialist confirmed the reason for it. Showed up there the staff was friendly but their billing department is super shady. It was odd how I confirmed with the "front desk" agent that she billed both my insurances. When my initial invoice was sent, it was for $10, reflecting only my primary being billed. My secondary is a fixed indemnity plan which requires no coordination. However, after I called their billing department because there is no address on the invoice just a phone number with a Brooklyn, NY area code that leads to some office, God knows where. So the agent said she updated my billing then a few weeks passed and I get a second invoice where my price 9x'd after tagging on my secondary insurance. I knew there was something wrong. I called again, they were adamant about their billing process. After researching this company, I've come to find that there are plenty of other stories involving plenty of other patients being ripped off. Intentionally mis coordinating benefits in order to defraud insurance companies and increase payments IE double billing IS ILLEGAL. I haven't forgotten about Alan and the rest of his low class, bitch ass fraudulent birds. I I'm a patient of gastro health. I do not live in the southwest area anymore. I live in Broward. Need to change location to see a doctor in Broward. The Mercy hospital location which I am affiliated with told me I cannot see another doctor within the gastro health system I need to call my insurance company to help me find another doctor outside of gastro health which I feel actions like this belong in a third world country not in the United States. Up on my last visit I left a review saying how friendly the staff were. A week after leaving the review my medication prescription was not called in and I have so much problems with them. GASTRO HEALTH MIAMI LAKES GIVE THE WORST SERVICE!!! The Worst Health Service I have ever received! They are never clear in the information they provide! Specially on the billing! At the very begining my Insurance covered every thing, whe I wat at the proscedure appoinyment, they charged me with extra costs not included in the quote, one month latter I was charged for a Insurance deduction. After 2 months I was charged for a proscedure done, but not included in the main bill. To make my payments, I arranged a monthly payment plan for 10 payments, every 20th . They said that an authomatic debit was not needed and I did not authorirez to do so. And I processed a q 1 time payment for the 1st monthy payment. I tried calling here to make an appt as a new patient, I didn't even make it past the secretary. She was rude and kept giving me buts. I asked for the closest appt w any doctor and she said "I can't pick the doctor for you". When I told her 2 names of doctors, she told me they are proctologists, not GI. I had to google search and get a random doctor. After I picked up the doctor, she was rude, saying we had an appt and never showed up. I told her that this was just before covid and we were unable to go (not her business why). I told her we ended up following w another GI doctor but, again bc of covid, we didn't do much w the MD. She refused to make the appt because she says they don't do second opinions. I told her we didn't need a second opinion, that we needed a GI doctor and appt. I seen at the Fort Myers-Coca Sabal location, the lack of communication in this office is unbelievable. Suffered for 4 months waiting for a colonoscopy even after knowing my issues, called the office several times and e-mailed as I was getting worse, never heard back from e-mails and took over a month to get a call back from Medical Assistant who was very rude, stated there was nothing they can do until the scope. Two ER visits and due to issue had to see two other doctors. After the scope my case was severe and was put on samples until Authorization from ins, the ins kept calling and stating they are waiting on information from Doctors office, I tried calling, finally went into office for another sample, and was told them they needed to sent the information. was treated with such disrespect and caught them laughing behind my back I have never been treated with such disrespect. I was told then that there was no more samples. Two months waiting for and authorization and was denied and no medication. I had to leave this office and put my health first and found another doctor and authorization was obtained within a week. So thankful I was smart enough to leave this Patrice. Consistantly herd issues w referral, I think office should confirm having them before making bunch of elderly make the trip wait just to be told did not get referral and after contacting dr office won't be able to resend for a while, then offering elderly to reschedule for another day. Poor service by office staff after 30 minutes of listening to this I'm leaving before this beurocratic poor paperwork affects me. In 45 minutes 4 elderly similar problem all different referring physician. WOW, I'm out of here! Giving 1 star is one too many. I was billed for a procedure back on April 27. They waited almost 2 months to submit my claim and that was prompted only because my insurance carrier was following up per my request. I knew I was overcharged and wanted a refund. I tried calling GastroHealth for weeks with only recordings. Finally got through today. I was advised that their system will not send refunds for over payments but the patient needs to call in for a refund. I was advised today that it will take 45 days to get my refund. So, GastroHealth is sitting with my money hostage while I have to wait. It's sad that I like my doctor but I don't think I like him enough to stay with such a company lacking transparency. Truth is, I really feel like they do this intentionally to keep people from getting a refund. The agent told me that if I didn't call, I would not have gotten a refund. Do you think my credit card company would accept this lame excuse if I was unable to pay my bill? I will be looking for a way to file a formal complaint but this is inexcusable. read more

The only reason I give 2 stars is because i like my doctor. I have been patient there for about 3 years. The office staff is very inefficient and unfriendly to say the least. I called today to request an appointment and the first thing I heard was "the doctor does not have appointments available until December" I wasn't even asked why I wanted the appointment. They just don't care. I am about to change to another doctor but it will have to be to another group, because they don't allow you to see another doctor in the group, unless the last appointment with your present doctor was more than 1 year ago. This review is about the gastro health office located at 9408 SW 87 Avenue Suite 200. The facilities are really beautiful and the doctor was professional. That is the only good comment I have about this place. My experience with them has been the worst I have ever had as a patient in my life. I made an appointment and saw the doctor. The name of the doctor is James Levitt, although I'm not even sure that he was the person that saw me that day. If that was the case I was never informed of that. I can't say for sure because he was obviously wearing a mask but I suspect that it was not him. But that's ok. Up to there, everything looked nice. But from that moment forward it's been hell for me. First, the doctor's assistant did not tell me anything about some tests the doctor had ordered. As I forgot to ask the doctor about what to do with the medicines I was taking I told his assistant to ask him about it because if he wanted me to continue to take them I needed refills. She said she would call me about it that day as soon as she spoke with the doctor. However several days passed and that call never happened. I decided to pass by the office to see what had happened because I called the assistant like 3 times and my calls were never returned. When I got there I found out that the assistant no longer worked there. Another lady took care of me that day and informed me about a CT scan I was not aware of and scheduled me for it. I showed up on the scheduled day and when I got there they told me that the appointment was for the following week. The following week I showed up and they told me that it was the week before. So disrespectful and lack of professionalism. I gave them another chance and I asked them to schedule me again. Unfortunately, something came up. I had a problem the day of the new appointment and I could not go that day. I canceled it using their text message system. They texted me to confirm and when I canceled that same system asked me if I wanted to be on a waiting list. I replied yes. After that, I received a message saying that there was a spot available and that if I wanted it I could take it. I replied yes. The system told me that everything was good to go and a few minutes later I received another message saying that there had been a problem and thus the appointment could not be scheduled. I never received any of those messages again. I decided to start calling for another appointment. So far I have made 3 or 4 calls without luck. Every time I call, whoever answers says that I cannot speak directly with the office that does the CT SCAN and that I have to speak with the doctor's assistant. I honestly don't understand this. I already have an order so the right thing to do would be to just schedule the appointment with the place. I have left several messages (because nobody ever answers Doctor Levitt's extension) but it has been weeks already and no one has had the courtesy to call me back, so I have been able to have my test done yet after so long. In one of my calls, I asked for the office manager. Guess what happened? Another voicemail. Nobody called me back either. It's like they don't give a damn because they are too busy to worry about someone calling or leaving messages. This place should not be open dealing with people's health conditions. It is a disgrace. Stay away from any of Gastro Health offices. The doctors might be good but it is not worth it the nightmare of their billing practices. They will overcharge you. In addition, even when you pay, they will not update the statement and keep charging you as if you paid nothing. They will also ask you for copayments that the insurance will pay them. Then, they will never return the money to you, unless you ask for it. Make sure, you review you insurance claims carefully. You call them, but no one has the authority to do something about it. Very dissatisfied with Gastro Health. I believe they are dishonest. I told them I was paying in full for all services at the time of the visit because I have a catastrophic insurance policy with a very high deductible, so they won't be getting paid by insurance, only by me directly. They said no problem and quoted me the price for the office visit and for treatment. I agreed to the prices they told me I would be charged, paid in full at the time of service and left thinking all was well. Shortly thereafter I am in a billing nightmare with them claiming the bill was more than three times what I was quoted in the office. Three weeks after the first bill was sent from their office saying I owed them money, they sent the account to collections. The fact that they don't even attempt a phone call reinforces my perception that the entire business is based on fraudulent billing practices. I might also mention that they do not follow up with patients after procedures are performed, so if you think you're dealing with a doctors office of old, where they actually care about whether the service provided to you helped you, you can forget about that with these people. The office manager is straight out of the ghetto, covered in tattoos, and reeks like an ash tray, with a nasty attitude. When I went in to complain about the bill and said I wanted to speak with the doctor about this, I was told by office manager that she makes the decisions and not to bother trying to talk to the doctor about anything since he's just an employee. The office is a dive which is dirty, poorly lit, with lots of "workers" milling about having personal conversations, but no one appearing to actually do any medical work. While I was waiting to talk to the office manager (who was outside smoking for the 35 minutes I waited), one office worker conversation was about someone (apparently in the office) being arrested for trying to hire an undercover cop on craigslist to do something illegal. Quoted $350 for initial visit and $100 per band. Billed more than $1500 for two hemorrhoid bands that did not fix anything for me and the doctor pushing for many more visits as he did not want to put on more than one band at a time. Total time with the doctor for the two visits? Maybe 20 minutes. I was not particularly happy about being charged $450 for 20 minutes but was willing to pay for relief of the problem. Needless to say, getting no relief, no follow up from the doctor or the office, and getting billed 3x what I was quoted after the fact has left left me less than satisfied. I would not recommend this doctor or Gastro Health unless you like being lied to and overcharged. If you enjoy this kind of abuse in addition to having objects inserted in your rear, you might enjoy the place. Gastro Health has multiple offices listed, but they're all the same company. Remember, you're not dealing with a doctor when you go to this place, you're dealing with a billing company. They could care less about you as a patient. I think they have multiple Yelp locations to help mitigate bad reviews. I also think that the positive reviews of this place are shill reviews based on the comments in the other negative reviews and my personal experience with the place. Beware. read more

Under my insurance and the ACA, preventive care is paid by insurance 100%. My insurance agrees. But Gastrohealth says I have to pay an Advance Payment Deposit for the possibility that they might find something on the screening preventive care colonoscopy. This subverts the entire purpose of getting people to get preventive care. My insurance company says they will NOT even consider such a charge because it is for UNSPECIFIED medical care that has NOT be performed nor even scheduled to be performed or even known whether it will be performed.
