My favorite places to review are donut shops, and if I had to pick one, this would be it! Huge fan of their donuts all around. They have a variety of donuts to pick from too, including donuts topped with cereal toppings and donuts shaped in the shape of a heart. The inside of the shop is spacious and clean too and plenty of room to sit down and enjoy your meal as well. Most donut shops I've been to may have a table to sit down and eat at; however, this place has three tables that are always clean and free of any leftover food from previous customers. My favorite part about this place is their sausage rolls as they have both small and large and both regular and spicy. The sausage rolls also come with cheese inside and the spicy ones come with a jalapeño on top too. The store is run by a lovely couple as well who are always the sweetest, and you can tell they truly appreciate their customers, especially if you're a regular like myself. Overall, as I said before, if I had to pick one donut shop to give a try in the DFW area, this place would be it, especially if you live in the Lakewood or Old East Part of Dallas! read more

First of all, don't walk, run. I was looking for a donut store near my new Job, and came across reviews for this place. First of all, reviews don't lie. The customer service was excellent. As soon as I walked in, the lady helping in the counter, greeted me with a smile, and quickly helped me. I bought a dozen donuts, mixed flavors. As I was paying, I noticed some donut holes that were a little different. I asked her if I could try them, and handed me one. Oh My God! The donut holes were amazing. She told me they were cronut holes. This is the most amazing thing ever. You absolutely need to come here. She once again, smiled at me and waved and said have a great day and off I went. The mixed donuts were fluffy and guess what, the leftover one I had the next day, was still very good, which is not the norm for other places. This is my new go to place. 15/10. read more

This place is a gem. My second trip in today and there will be many more. I discovered this shop recently and returned today. Picked up a kolache and two donuts. All were terrific. In addition, you will not find better small business owners who offer friendlier customer service. While it appears it may be a bit sketch from the outside, I assure you it is very welcoming and clean inside. Every morning Kim and his amazing wife are there around 2am to start making everything fresh. Donuts and Pastries are moist and delicious, good prices especially in today's economy. Worth getting: small sausage rolls ($0.95 each- I like the jalapeno version) and sausage croissant ($0.99 each- with a chunk of bacon thrown in for good measure) are both top tier, also after a warm-up shot in the microwave. Donut holes: the counter lady (50% of the couple who run the place, plus hubby running the kitchen) threw in 6 for the heck of it, which were also excellent after I asked her to warm them up, fluffy and sweet. Id be curious to try it heated up. I also had a jalapeño sausage kolache. I liked how there was no cheese in it, as from my experience, that can drown out the other flavors and make it heavy. They're good, but not what I would call top tier. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? The layout at SK Donuts is simple and the extremely friendly owner will have you setup in no time. Donuts? They got them. Kolaches? They got them. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? This is how donuts should be priced. Standard glazed? $0.95. Old fashioned? $1.00. In an age of $3.00 or even $4.00 fancy schmancey donuts, prices that hover around $1.00 are a breath of fresh air. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? As I often do, I started off my sampling with a standard glazed donut. It was good, with a puffy consistency and a smooth, crack-free glaze. The flavor was there, although I honestly would have a preferred it a tad bit sweeter. Just a personal preference. From there I sampled an old-fashioned, which have been among my favorite donuts as of late. The flavor here was better than the glazed, although the donut cracked apart pretty easily. Both of these were good options, although I could have gone for a slightly broader selection. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? SK Donuts is a great neighborhood donut shop. I wouldn't drive out of my way to get to it but if you're in the Gaston/Fitzhugh area then you should give it a try! I had the small Kolaches and a glazed twist and they were super tasty! I'm a fan of dense donuts so if you like them airy and light SK might not be for you.
