I had to see Dr Weiner again a few months ago because I thought I'd torn an ACL in my other knee, and the office experience was MUCH better. He moved into a new office, there was no wait, the staff was great, and the whole experience was positive. Turned out the ACL was fine after an MRI, but he also didn't make me come in and pay for another office visit to discuss the results. I was able to do that over the phone which is always a plus! I'm very active and in a high injury sport and Dr Weiner is my go to knee specialist! Would not go see anyone else given a choice. And I have to drive all the way to north Scottsdale from Gilbert to see him. Highly recommend! read more

Wow! People can be cruel. I chose Dr. Weiner after much research. His reputation is incredible and I have personally witnessed the results of very complicated surgeries he has performed. When I called for my apt, I was informed that he typically did not see pts with hardware already in place which has failed. Really wanting his opinion on my shoulder, the staff asked him and he immediately reviewed my MRI and agreed to see me. I was elated from what I had heard about him and patiently waited for my apt. I have never been to an orthopedic doc who runs exactly on time. Ortho patients are difficult, in pain and frustrated. He made me feel comfortable, and thoroughly investigated my history from 18 years ago. He is careful and cautious. That's what I look for in a doc. Not that he's on time. He also personally called me from his office at 930 (still working) to review my second MRI findings. That is a rare find. He knows his patients and remembers his patients. Even comes in room with a cheat sheet which I love because I know he reviews charts right before entering a room. I have a big surgery coming up and require a IVC filter to be placed prior to surgery due to a history of PEs. Again, all I have witnessed is being thorough and cautious and takes his time with his patients. You will never feel rushed and will not leave with unanswered questions (but if you think of another question after leaving, call his sweet office girls and they will relay the message and you will shortly be receiving a personal phone call). I tore my ACL and was unsure how to pick the right Orthopedic surgeon. I was referred to Dr. Weiner and couldn't be happier with the process from start to finish prior to surgery and after. Not only is he great, his office staff is exceptional. When you meet Dr. Weiner you can tell he is very intelligent and he does a great job at educating the patient about the injury and available options for treatment. At no time during the pre surgery process did I have any doubts that I found the right doctor. I fell and broke my kneecap on my tile floor at home early one morning. The ambulance took me to the ER at Honor Health, where the ER doctor told me I could go home if I wanted and make an appointment "later in the week" with an orthopedic surgeon they recommended, a Dr. Weiner. Lo and behold, at that precise minute, the phone rings in my ER room and it's Dr. Weiner on his cell phone, driving up to the ER at that very minute. I can remember his next words: "I'm looking at your x-rays right now, and if we don't operate tonight, you'll never walk again." Welp, ER doc, what do you say to that? Hmmm? Honor Health admitted me within the hour and my surgery happened that evening, as promised. But by then, I had interviewed more than a dozen people -- nurses, x-ray techs, the ER doc, orderlies, random hospital staff, more nurses. EVERY SINGLE ONE said he is by far the best ortho doctor they've seen, and they see them all. If you're ever in some sort of godawful mess, he's your guy. The OR nurses just raved and raved about him. Even the anesthesiologist gave me a thumb's up with Dr. Weiner out of earshot. Dr. Weiner explains everything in plain English and tells it like it is. There was no sugarcoating what happened or the uphill battle I faced to recover. He was stern during my recovery when I was too scared to move and not following directions. He finally took my brace off and ordered me to walk without it, which my husband found hilarious while I sputtered and made excuses. I began listening and made as full a recovery as I was going to make, given that it was a complete break that had to be bolted back together. It's been a year-and-a-half and I'm pretty much fine. The knee makes a funny click sound when I walk, which I joke about, but I have full range of motion and good stamina. Dr. Weiner is the best. I never had much of a wait in the waiting room, but yes, he does make you go downstairs to the X-ray lab, but that never took long and I appreciated him getting up-to-date information just before seeing me. He did charge me for filling out the paperwork for my short-term disability leave, which I thought odd, but he did make the point that it was time-consuming. No matter what, he was always fully honest with me. Maybe not everyone likes that in a doctor, but I appreciate it. read more

Stay away, that's your warning. I made an appointment over 3 weeks ago for my hip that's been bothering me for months. I took the first available appointment and was willing to wait a few weeks despite the pain so I could finally get some answers. I get a call the DAY BEFORE my appointment telling me they cancelled my appointment because they don't see patients under 50 years of age with hip issues. So when I called and made the appointment, told the girl i had hip issues and I was 22, she said nothing? Then on the phone they said he reviewed my X-rays, which I never even sent them. Before I get into what I promise will be a merciless review of this place, I want to say that the staff and the doctor were all very friendly. However, that doesn't begin to make up for the fact that (for reasons discussed below) this office is horribly and terribly run. Do yourself a favor, find another ortho. First, I had to wait for THREE HOURS to see the doctor. And this included being sent downstairs to get an X-ray before I'd even been seen. Why on God's green Earth is everyone being sent for X-rays before even seeing the doctor?! I'm not sure if every single patient was sent for an X-ray but it sure seemed like it. I have my suspicions about this practice of doing unnecessary tests, but I can't know for sure, so I'll keep them to myself for now. Second, did I mention I had to wait for THREE HOURS? I've never in my life had to wait that long at a doctor's office. Never. Obviously they are over-booking. That's not good business and it's an awful way to practice medicine. If your patients have to wait for THREE HOURS to see you, that's a serious problem. What happened to "do no harm"? That's doing harm in my book! I'm a lawyer and a mom, I don't have time to sit in a doctor's office for THREE HOURS. Third, by the time I finally saw the doctor, I was rushed and didn't have time to fully listen to his diagnosis. Pretty much defeated the whole purpose of the visit. Fourth, there were elderly people sitting in there for hours with their feet swelling up. Again, what happened to "do no harm"? I felt awful for these people. It's clear that this office is overbooking the doctor to the extent that it seems like they just want to bill your insurance and don't really care about your health. I can't think of any other explanation for this egregious practice of letting patients (many of whom are in pain) sit for hours and hours. Maybe there is another explanation, but I sure can't come up with one. The best doctor I've ever been a patient of limited himself to 10 patients a day so that each patient was able to get the proper amount of time and attention. His practice is an exemplar of what a medical practice should be. Next to him, this OrthoArizona place seems like a bad episode of American Horror Story that you just can't get out of. Fifth, when I called to pay the balance on my account (as I was eager to conclude any outstanding business with this place), I was on hold for FOURTEEN MINUTES. What in the actual [insert expletive here]?! I was just trying to pay my bill and I was on hold for 14 minutes. Who is the office manager here? He or she should be fired with extreme prejudice. This place shows no respect for you or your time. Lastly, when the doctor finally came into the room (after I'd been waiting in there for 45 minutes), he suggested a cortisone shot. But, again, because I had had to wait for THREE HOURS, I had no time for that. Nor will I be going back to wait another 3 hours to get a cortisone shot. I will be seeing another doctor. One who doesn't waste the precious time (and thus, money) of their patients. I should have checked Yelp before going to this office. Never again will I go to a doctor without checking Yelp. I learned my lesson the hard way. Consider yourself warned. read more

I truly don't believe any surgery could have been more perfect or flawless than the hip replacement Dr. Weiner did on my husband!!! If I could give him 10 stars, I would. From walking in the door at our first appt thru the 2 week follow-up, everything has been amazing. Dr. Weiner is confident and experienced! He is friendly, tells it to you straight, and is extremely thorough with the entire surgery process from start to finish. You can tell he strives for perfection in his operating room, and is not just there checking a box of completion. He took extra time & care during the surgery due to my husbands tight thigh muscles, and everything came out fabulous. No cut nerves, tendons, or muscles - which all resulted in an extra speedy recovery. He was up walking that evening, and discharged from the hospital the next day. No walker, no cane, no special equipment to function day to day. No pain meds needed after a day besides the occasional ibuprofen for soreness. If anyone says the doctor doesn't matter, or they are all the same, should look at this case. It absolutely matters! I understand my husbands recovery results might be unique, but we do believe that if it wasn't for the extra care taken by Dr. Weiner, it might have turned out very differently. Besides being thorough thru the surgery, Dr. Weiner's follow-up is fantastic. Dr. Weiner even went out of his way to call us at home the next day to help coordinate and intervene in some insurance hiccups we were having. We have never waited unreasonably long (10mins or so) for an appt. He was prompt and right on time the morning of the surgery. The x-ray office is just downstairs and the front office staff coordinates getting their patients in & out of there timely matter. No messing with the usual imaging clinics everyone else has to go to. Everyone in Dr. Weiner's front office is helpful and friendly, and knows what they are doing. We have already been referring him to everyone we know even thinking about needing a joint replacement. We had also been told by a few people within the hospital and at Physical Therapy that Dr. Weiner is the best - and they are right read more

Fantastic doctor! Although he couldn't fix my knee injury, he determined what was wrong, found the right specialist to fix it and personally called him and wrote a long report to him. When I mentioned I was seeing an orthopedist everyone told me he would automatically just do surgery even if I didn't need it. Nothing was further from the truth. DO NOT USE THIS DR!!! I waited 1.5 HOURS to be seen.... without an apology from Dr Weiner when he eventually can=me into the room - without my chart none the less, he had to go back out to fetch it. He dismissed my condition, calling me a fake and saying there was nothing wrong with me... I'm pretty sure the EMT's and ER doctors who treated my dislocation would disagree with him. He then went on to order an INCREDIBLY expensive MRI, which when it was reviewed by another Dr (Dr Brad Cucchetti - awesome guy) he said because of the metal in my shoulder, he would have gone a different route entirely. This guy clearly got his MD from WebMD and should not be allowed to practice medicine. Bad bedside manor, poorly educated and a longer than reasonable wait time. No thanks. I'll pass. read more

I had a tibia fracture that was labeled as a knee sprain at first by different doctors, but when I went to see Dr Weiner, he immediately admitted me into the hospital that evening and I had surgery the next day to resolve the problem. It was successful and thanks to Dr. Weiner's excellent follow up care and pushing me hard with the physical therapy I am fully functional 4 months later. Love the non-apology to the other one star review. In sum, "I'm sorry, but I'm a very busy, very important doctor. Tough." --------- Even though there is a big sign in the waiting room apologizing in advance for the fact that the doctor's appointments may run longer than expected (because he's "committed to spending all the time with patients that is required") I've been waiting with my grandmother for over an hour at this visit. I understand that things come up, that he's on call with the ER today, etc., but there appears to be a big problem with overbooking at this office. Dr. Weiner really ought to consider making appointment slots longer or building in buffer time between slots. A huge inconvenience and downright disrespectful. Really didn't plan to or have the flexibility to take an entire afternoon off of work. Dr. Weiner should compensate me for lost time. Unacceptable. ------ Jeff P., making a patient wait for upwards of 100 minutes past the his or her scheduled appointment time is no way to run a successful business. Yes, maybe he ends up seeing fewer patients per week/month by building in a little extra time. I highly doubt he would end up bankrupt as a result. On my insurance card, it's printed that a specialists' copay is $60 - that should be what is charge while visiting a dr who accepts my plan. After waiting 45 minutes, I was told the co-pay for my visit would be over $100! Whaaat? My insurance btw, is BCBS. I realize with the insurance changes, the doctors are making much less, but since I respectfully disagree with their policy, I went elsewhere to a practice (also reviewed highly) that honored the co-pay of the billing insurance. Dr. Weiner was fantastic! This is the second time my fiance has seen him and he does a really amazing job! His front desk staff is super friendly and accommodating. He performed top notch on a difficult surgery. If I know anyone that needs an orthopaedic surgeon I would definitely recommend him. please forgive any typos, mistakes or errors in grammer.appt date- 8-30-16 1130am.arrived 1106am xrays taken, returned to office , where co-pay was collected and then immediatley taken to exam room 11:45am with weight (244# 5'6") and height taken first.saw dr weiner at 1246pm.dr weiner entered sat in dr roll chair next to counter. and asked what was wrong. he did not apologize for wait time. i stated the incident, being possibly work related? 8-15-16. taking my seat in airline, my left knee gave out and i sat hard down into the middle seat, twisting right knee, unable to move from center seat had to stay in awkward position for entire flight 55min. needed assist to deplane. i told dr weiner my current job as a shoe fitter and physical wrk requirements. most specifically the shoe fitting bench i need to use to fit customers shoes. i stated that the only thing i was taking for pain was naproxin, but i don't know the mg or dosage i should be taking. dr weiner asked for me to walk to door of exam room, then asked for me to lie on exam table dr weiner manipulated my left knee. appx 1-2 min. dr sat back down in chair next to counter. , dr weiner stated that according to xrays, which he did not physically have with him, that i had chronic arthritis. he stated that the meniscus was shredded, and what i had was bone on bone, using fists to demo. i was taken aback, because i have not had any issues up to this point. as far as i knew, the twisting of my left knee and knee giving out, while taking my seat in airline, and subsequent twisting of the right, was my first indicator of an issue. , dr w einer stated, "don't get me wrong, your'e a nice person, but you are grossly overweight, (and something about bmi,) and you most certainly will need knee surgical repair, and you are not a candidate for surgery, because of your weight." dr weiner continued stating that it was my choice, but this was a "wake up call". dr weiner went on several minutes regarding my weight and that it was my choice, but in order to be a surgical candidate, i needed to lose weight. dr weiner, did not ask me questions on injury or workers comp, or my medical history related to my weight, dr weiner stated that there was no cure for arthritis, and pain management would be the only option adding that he could give me a one-time steroidal injection, and that he would refer me to a pain manage clinic, and that they could also give me a diet. if dr weiner had listened to me, and had asked clarifing questions regarding my weight he would have learned that i'm on a very healthy diet and exercise regime, water arobics 3x/wk and i swim laps, and at home i pool exercise (30m constant movement), 7 days per wk.i have a very physically demanding job, where i push, pull, lift, climb, and use a shoe fitting bench, i also wear a fit bit and am accountable to a pa/rn support group. i am on my feet, 10 hour days/ 5 days a week. .to assume i have a sedentary life style is ludicrous and presumptuous, while drawing up the injection, dr weiner rattled through the possible side effects, which i didn't have time even process what he was saying. he then asked, "do you live alone?" i stated, no. he replied, sounding surprised that it would be" good to have support'. i have absolutely no idea what that meant. i was excused with a bus card to pain management (which dr w, placed on the counter in the exam room), his parting remark was "good luck to you"at the front i was given the referrals.i was not given any information on arthritis or post care for the injection.sitting in the parking garage, i googled arthritis and was reading about it, when my cell rang, it was dr weiner. he stated that he was reading over my file and that i had noted a possible injury. he stated that to see if the pt and pain management helps, if not, to call back, because i might have a "hair line" fracture. the injection, helped .i went to water aerobics. i googled "steroid" injections, and read to refrain from "formal exercise for 2-4 days." my heart sank, did i just undo the effects of the injection?.using the patient portal , i looked to see if it showed what was in the injection, nothing specific as to exactly what was injected, there was no post care instruction. there was patient education, however it was rheumatoid arthritis, not osteo arthritis., the visit recap stated my age and dx of osteo arthritis. . if my knee giving out is not related to the incident on the airlines, then fine, but dr weiner asked no questions for clarification.i googled osteo arthritis and am unable to find any instance that chronic arthritis can present itself as a collapse of the knee. i learned more from google then from my dr visit.i don't know my prognosis or possible long term care, i don't know what was injected into my knee.,don't know if what i experienced on the airline is related to arthritis or an injury. dr weiner should read his mission statement, and either follow it or rewrite it. read more

I would recommend Dr. Weiner to anyone who needs a qualified orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Weiner has a wonderful office staff, they are all super organized and nice. They get back to me right away and answer any of my questions. I had knee surgery this past December and Dr. Weiner put me at ease that I was doing the right surgery. He was so patient with all of my concerns, answered all of my questions and went beyond to check with me and my family the evening and morning after surgery. Dr. Weiner has a very caring and calm disposition. He spent the time at each appointment I had to go over every detail. I never felt rushed! I never had to wait long for appointments. Dr. Weiner doesn't listen well. Tried to explain how my knee pain originated but Dr. Weiner immediately assumed my meniscus was torn. I had a horrible thigh cramp that initiated the knee pain. Turns out I had a stress fracture in my femur that probably was caused by the fatigued thigh muscles. But Dr. Weiner doesn't like patients who talk or ask questions. In any event Dr. Weiner ordered an MRI that diagnosed the stress fracture. But he gave me absolutely zero instructions for taking care of it and said he would do surgery to fix the meniscus that he still thought was torn. Well after about another month the knee still hurt and I researched stress fractures and found info that NSAIDs can interfere with bone healing. I was taking 15mg of meloxicam (NSAID) a day for thumb arthritis and Dr. Weiner never advised me of the adverse impact it might cause on healing. I stopped taking the meloxicam and the knee is now healed. Lesson? Be your own health advocate. Especially with a crappy Dr. like Dr. Weiner. read more

Dr. Weiner took excellent care of my son after a severely broken collarbone. My son has autism and Dr Weiner was so kind and patient with him. The break required surgery and plating. The surgery/recovery went smoothly and Dr. Weiner kept us informed every step of the way. The outcome was fantastic for my son.
