I was recommended too Donald Sherrian years ago. I regret not posting this information. I've come to realize I may have helped a lot of people by posting about what transpired. I had elbow surgery performed.He took out chips of bone straightened my arm in my tendon. He referred me to the cardinal's training facility for rehab. Two weeks after the surgery the rehab placed asked why he put me in a sling. They said now that i'm in a sling that the tendons have shrunk. They attempted to straighten my arm by having one of the football players.Sit on my arm and get it straight. After three days of trying to deal with the pain i finally had to give in and let the elbow stay bent. The most disturbing thing about this is when I asked him why he put me in a sling.He left the room went into another room.I heard him on the phone telling the rehab place that if they ever questioned his work.He would never send anybody back as far as a referral. I now realize that he has a god complex, just like most doctors and doesn't want to admit when things are done improperly. I also recently spoke to a registered nurse in orthopedics, and she said that that is one hundred percent the way Donald Sheridan is! read more

Dr. Sheridan did my bicep repair surgery in January and did a phenomenal job! He was able to see me right away and his office was able to schedule me in within the week. I couldn't be more pleased with the whole process and my recovery. He kept me informed. Reassured me throughout my healing process. His office environment was awesome. My experience with Dr. Sheridan. He is extremely knowledgeable, will show you the x-rays(s) and will explain to you in terms you can understand what is going on. If other x-rays need to be done, he will explain why. If it comes to the point where you will need surgery, he will explain your surgery options. He gives you his opinion of what he thinks is the best option. Obviously it is your choice on what surgery you feel will be best. He gives you time to think it over and if you want to meet again to bring in anyone to talk about any concerns, answer any questions about surgery, and or post op. I would not trust anyone else to operate on my wrist. When I had my appointments after surgery he always compared x-rays he took and showed you how the progress is going or concerns. Office experience was great. Staff was friendly. Dr. Sheridan didn't review my X-rays with me. He didn't go over my most recent MRI from my primary care doc. with me. I have a broken scaphoid in both wrists and TFCC tear in both wrists. Dr. Sheridan only addressed the TFCC tear and said the scaphoid was a "salvage" type issue which he didn't even explain. He was very impersonal and did not describe my injury's or treatment to help me gain movement and and grip strength. I would not recommend Dr. Sheridan for hand procedures. I accompanied my daughter to her appointment with Dr. Sheridan to review options for a repetitive motion wrist injury from years of playing softball that got worse while playing in college. Dr. Sheridan's "bedside" manor was wonderful. He took the time to explain my daughter's injury, reviewed her MRI with us, and discussed the pros/cons of surgery. Dr. Sheridan asked my daughter questions about her future athletic goals (now that she has graduated from college), along with what she is doing since graduating from college and factored that into the potential surgery option. Dr. Sheridan did not push surgery on her, in fact, he leaned towards taking a wait and see approach if my daughter's wrist situation got worse versus staying the same. I think that he was a very good hand surgeon years ago. Something has changed with both him and his staff. After I got the message from Ortho AZ that he was no longer affiliated with him ( was a bit strange that the letter did not come from him) I tracked him down to working at HonorHealth. He never sent any information where he can be contacted. I am having problems with the hand he operated on and wanted to see him. I cannot get anyone to answer the phone. I would not recommend this doctor at all. In my experience with him pre-and post he often acted Indignant to the point of raising his voice. During many of my appointments including the first time he acted irritated and put out because I was scheduling my surgery 5 months ahead. Since it is an elective surgery I wanted to let my employer know well in advance that I would be gone 3 months so they'd have plenty of time to find a replacement for me. When I tried to explain this to doctor Sheridan he sarcastically insisted he didn't know what he'd be doing in five months and said he wouldn't do it. I tried to explain to him that his scheduler had told me he was scheduled over at the hospital on that specific day. But he would not budge. He told me to return the month before the date I had wanted for another Preop appointment. Since he was delaying my surgery, I had to schedule a Preop appointment closer to the date he wanted. costing another copay. I had to put everything on hold till three weeks before my surgical date. I informed my job of my dilemma with the surgeon. They were very understanding, thank goodness. I work in a medical field and I understand that some surgeons tend to be a little eccentric so I dismissed his scheduling preferences as part of having his stressful job. But this kind of behavior only got worse after surgery when I displayed excessive pain. We did not know at the time that I had nerve damage. He was not understanding of my pain after surgery and discontinued my medication five weeks post CMC surgery regardless of the fact I still had numb fingers and one stop pain from the nerve damage caused by that surgery. He ordered a EMG test on my surgical hand but continued to insist it was carpal tunnel related ( which I had never had before) I understand that during surgery there are risks and sometimes issues come up and collateral damage can occur. This should have been addressed and we could have moved forward. I had told him a few weeks before that I was still numb he had acted aloof and disinterested and nadeno comment. Not wanting to rock the boat I told myself it must be normal. I still had a some time to heal and few weeks before returning to work. When I addressed it again a few weeks later at another appointment he asked me how long that had been going on. He acted as if I had never mentioned it before. I was confused and it showed in my voice. I told him. "since the after surgery." Instead of us reviewing my options, he chose to defend himself and verbally argue that he had not gone near my medial nerve. He insisted that most likely it was carpal tunnel which I had never had prior. I could see that his irritation was growing. He then point-blank asked me where my medial nerve was on my hand. At this point with his voice raising and accusatory he was again making me nervous. I decided not to push his buttons any further. I simply told him "I am not a surgeon, I couldn't tell you exactly where that is but I suppose it's in my wrist" I was thrown off by his verbal attack and unprofessional behavior. He offered to send me for an EMG test for nerve damage which came out positive for nerve damage, not carpal tunnel. His office had said they would call me with the results but the results were given to me by the Doctor who did the test that day. The office never called. I never went for a follow up. I was so angry he had left me in pain for the next two months after my surgery. I understand the whole opioid issue but he actually gave me no alternatives either no way to deal with the pain. I had to do it on my own. Clearly Dr. Sheridan was not able to deal. My paperwork had been messed up four times by his office so my disability checks were not timely. I felt bad for a staff. I imagine he lost many. Every time I went they had new people. I was afraid he would mess up my paperwork if he knew I was transferring my care to another doctor. I had run out of FMLA time and PTO. I called the office to have my paperwork signed to let me return to work. I didn't need to go in and I didn't want to see him. He signed it after that I did a transfer of care. I ended up getting injections in my wrist. After nine months I still don't have feeling in four of my fingers tips. read more

Let me start by saying I saw Dr. Sheridan at ortho Arizona and I love the staff at Ortho Arizona. I love all the other doctors at Ortho Arizona. I personally just do not like Dr. Sheridan. Being someone that deals with chronic pain all the time I deal with a lot of different doctors and personally I have never met a doctor so narcissistic, rude and disrespectful. I have a cyst in my wrist and I needed that removed to eliminate some of the neuropathy that I feel around my wrist bones. Dr. Sheridan told me straight to my face that my case was too complicated and he would not see me as a patient. The truth of the matter is, it was not complicated. He deals with major league, baseball players, and their injuries... He simply did not want to deal with me because I am a peon among his clientele. I don't come from fame and money, therefore to him I was no one. He is exactly what's wrong with the medical industry, picking and choosing who he wants to see and doesn't want to see based off of status in the community. I Left in tears because I was extremely angry at his behavior, and how unprofessional he was. Do your research, but read between the lines. if you don't want to feel like you are insignificant and don't matter, then choose a different doctor. I have never had anything done and heard this doc was great from some of my pro athlete clients. I told the woman at the front desk I'd pay in cash since she said they don't take my insurance. Woman at the front desk said they don't accept out of pocket clients and they wouldn't take me because they only work with specific insurance companies. Beware, this physician has the biggest God complex I've ever come across. I have many doctors and Dr. Sheridan is one of the worst in my experience. Although he has many rave reviews, look out if you are one of the unfortunate that has a bad outcome from surgery. Even some of my current doctors had great things to say about his skills...until they saw the outcome of my hand and how he treated me after the fact. I went to see Dr. Sheridan for a trigger finger surgery, which he said is a simple surgery. I already knew that since I had one three years prior with a different surgeon that went fine, no issues (only wished I went back to him). After surgery with Dr. Sheridan, I was instructed to return on day 3 to take the bandages off which I did. Dr. Sheridan instructed me on how to move my fingers around and stretch them. The next day I started doing as instructed and IMMEDIATELY suspected something was not right. Difficult to describe however there was a catching, irritating, creeping sensation in the surgical area. I thought maybe the stitches were getting caught on something. Everyday it was getting worse. I thought to call the office but experience told me they would say "you just had surgery, give it some time..." so I didn't. I was scheduled to go back day 10 for stitch removal, which I did. The nurse removed the stitches and I told the nurse about my concern. She referred me to ask the doctor. Well, this is where things go sideways. I told Dr. Sheridan about the issue. He looked at my hand and said to move it. He could not feel what I was describing and was going to send me on my way. I made a comment I felt he was 'pooh poohing' my concern and he turned into Mr. Hyde. He said and I quote "I have done more than 6 thousand of these surgeries and I have never had a problem..." I replied, "I can appreciate that however that does not mean 6001 will not". After a couple more banters, he stormed out of the room, with no instructions and left me sitting there. I finally left the room to find him for instructions. He was so sarcastic and belittling. I asked if I should go to physical therapy and his answer was "if that's what you want to do..." I'll try to wrap this up... I went to physical therapy and the therapist herself said something was wrong. After two weeks she called the doctors office to give her opinion. I went back to the doctors office where the nurse, medical assistant and Dr. Sheridan all said "it looks great". Back I went to p/t. After another two weeks, my therapist called his office again. I went back and this time...'oh, this doesn't look the same as it did before...I didn't do anything wrong but just to be sure there isn't an infection, lets do an MRI...". Needless to say, there was so much scar tissue around whatever the original screw up was that there was no going back. Too much time had gone by. I made one last visit to Dr. Sheridan, at which time he was a complete jerk, and said "either live with it or I can cut it out". Just like that. No explanation about the MRI, no explanation about what may have happened, nothing. I requested all my records, including office notes and left. By the way, NONE of the office notes reflected my concerns from the very first visit after surgery. He even left out the concerns of my physical therapist after her second call. None of the notes were accurate. Dr. Sheridan is arrogant and self righteous. Unless you are a professional athlete, don't expect respect. Even my current doctors who recommended him were disappointed and some upset about the way he treated me. One shaking his head in disappointment. Dr. Sheridan may be a good surgeon but if you end up being on the wrong end of one of his surgeries, you are on your own! Other great hand surgeons out there! read more

Waited 50 minutes to get in. Once I saw the doctor, he was immediately rude and indicated that this is what you are going to do: surgery. I hadn't even said a word yet. I indicated that I really didn't want surgery at this time due to the pandemic. I asked about a cortisone shot or any thing less invasive. He rolled his chair as close to me as possible in an attempt to intimidate and asked what do you expect me to do? I reiterated my concerns. Surprisingly, he said that he wasn't the doctor for me. He threw the paperwork on the table and huffed out. I'm 62 and have never experienced such a rude, pompous and unprofessional behavior. I could never recommend this doctor to another woman. Let me tell you about my experience with Dr. Donald Sheridan and his office. The backstory is that I already had carpel tunnel surgery scheduled with another surgeon, and I had a bad feeling about the other surgeon, not at all at peace. I kept telling myself to get over it, but it just didn't feel right, so I started from square one looking for a new surgeon. I was referred to Dr. Sheridan from the orthopedic surgeon who had done my knee surgeries. I called Dr. Sheridan's office, explained to the front desk lady my situation (that I had the other surgery scheduled within the week), and she was able to get me in for a consultation later that same week! I will say I had to wait quite a while in the waiting room, but it was worth the wait. I knew from the moment I met Dr. Sheridan that I liked him - great personality, straightforward information, but thorough in his information at the same time, putting me at ease about my carpal tunnel surgery. Then I met Lauren, the surgery scheduler, who was awesome as well! She somehow managed to be professional and at the same time I felt so comfortable with her that she could have been my BFF. At my consultation, they were able to schedule my surgery for the very following week. The day of the surgery, Dr. Sheridan checked in with me to see if I had any questions at all before we began the procedure, and answered any questions I had. I have gone to see Dr Sheridan two times in the last year-( he was highly recommended from one of my doctors.)Once for the beginnings of tennis elbow and tensynovitis in my other hand and wrist. A couple injections later and I feel so much better! My tennis elbow never came back and my wrist feels so much better, hopefully I won't need to go back since we caught it so early. It's very convenient that they have all the x ray equipment there so you don't have to run around. He really is a great at his specialty and is very warm and caring. Hopefully I won't ever have any other issues but if I do I will not think twice to go to him. It's a wonderful office-the staff is so friendly and courteous. They call back very quickly after leaving a message also. This Dr. doesn't need your business. His receptionist will clarify that. The first impression is that her voice is so loud everyone in the office knows exactly what she's saying. If you don't mind an actual dog being in your patient room then maybe getting past the front desk is worth it. My youngest daughter, Sophia, broke her thumb when she was Six. We were blessed to connect with Dr. Sheridan. I was impressed with the amount of time he took explaining directly to Sophia so she could understand and then took extra time explaining to me what the next steps might look like. He then followed up with Sophie's mom, on the phone, after hours because she could not be at the first appointment. After taking extra time to answer all of our questions and help us all understand what the steps of this process would look like, he performed a flawless surgery and Sophia recovered quickly and has moved on to enjoy many different athletic endeavors. Dr. Donald C. Sheridan is an Amazing Doctor who treated me with a lot of TLC...he "fixed" my very sore inflamed elbow with one shot at my first office visit. I came in for an initial consult for hand pain I was experiencing. Unfortunately my experience was poor... when I saw Dr Sheridan he was very rushed and I did not see him for more than a few minutes. Dr. Sheridan and his staff are unbelievable. In this day and age it is so nice to get a chance to work with a staff that is concerned patient care first. Every member made me feel like I was the most important person in the building and took my worries and concerns very seriously. Joleen, receptionist, is ON TOP OF EVERYTHING. She always communicates and followed up with every question and request I had. Lauren and the other PA's are also amazing. Every step of my procedure was explained in detail. They called me several times to ensure I was healing and doing well. Of course I was doing well after my surgery because I had the best surgeon in the world. I broke my wrist in 3 places on a Saturday night I was recommended to Dr Sheridan by my brother in-laws foot surgeon. I called around 8:45 on Monday morning the receptionist was amazing after I told her i had broken my wrist and would like to be seen this week she put me on a brief hold asked me how far away I lived and if I could come in right away! I was shocked and so happy when I arrived they were wonderful I only waited maybe 5 minutes went in Dr Sheridan looked at my X-rays done by urgent care and gave me 2 options. Option 1 leave it to heal with a cast would probably have joint pain and arthritis in the future. Option 2 have surgery he pointed out that with my type of break it was hard to tell with the X-rays which type of surgery I would need (plate and screws or an exterior device). Scheduled for 2 days later and only needed plate and screws. Dr. Sheridan and his team are profession and friendly a hard combination to find. Great follow ups with no complications. My review is the polar opposite of Sarah B.'s. Donald Sheridan is the most capable, compassionate, and sincere doctor I know. And I know lots. I have had 12 surgeries since 1994. My experience with Dr. Sheridan has now extended over more than 17 years. I have had surgery with him three times. I first met him when I was 21. I had a bad tendon rupture as a result of my rheumatoid arthritis. I went up to his office and saw all the pics of athletes and celebs on the walls and wondered if this hot-shot doctor would help an awkward, sickly aspiring pianist! He did, and has continued to care for my hands since that day. That visit, he sat with me and patiently explained the procedure he had in mind. He asked me if I had any questions and, on the verge of tears, I answered quickly: no. "Well, let's sit here for a minute in case you come up with some." and I did. When a similar thing happened to my other hand years later, I went to him. He remembered my case, including that I played piano, and he even remembered the name of the dumb boyfriend I'd had at that first surgery! He has always ALWAYS worked hard to get me back to piano playing... never once telling me to give up that dream. He is the furthest thing in the world from the typical ortho surgeon who just wants to cut. More than once he has counseled me to avoid surgery. He treats my hands like they are his own. When I had a bad complication from a shoulder surgery with a different surgeon, Dr. Sheridan was available to consult with me by phone and offer his expertise and insight. Maybe you are reading this and thinking, "Well, this reviewer is hardly objective." That's right. I am not. I love and trust Dr. Sheridan the way one loves and trusts a beloved teacher. Worst medical experience ever! Cursory physical exam followed by misreading the EMG (nerve test). Recommended surgery on my unaffected hand first and then my injured hand. Then his staff called him out for an unacceptable time frame. He also wanted to do most risky and complicated surgery which wasn't necessary. I had a very pleasant experience with Dr. Sheridan and his staff. They are all very kind and willing to help. I never waited more than 10-20 minutes in the waiting room and was always greeted by a friendly face. I had a tough time scheduling my surgery due to my crazy work schedule and they were very flexible and helpful. My calls were always returned in a timely manner, if not answered right away. This doctor was recommended by a friend (also a doctor). My first visit, I arrived early to fill out paperwork and didn't wait too long to see the doctor. The staff took x-rays. After waiting for again for a short while, the doctor looked at the -x-rays, and said I'd need a nerve induction test, done by a colleague. I scheduled the test, and was told, by the ortho who conducted the test, that there was no nerve damage. I'm not stupid person, and assumed that meant no surgery needed. Imagine my surprise when Dr. Sheridan's office called to schedule a follow up appointment. Maybe he's got some additional information, I thought. I arrived early, paid my co-pay, and waited for 40 minutes in an office. 35 minutes into the wait, I actually called the front desk and got voicemail! I went to leave, but finally the doctor came in. He could tell I was not happy. He told me exactly what the neuro had told me. When I asked for alternate treatments for the pain (other than surgery which he didn't recommend), the doctor suggested ANOTHER nerve induction test in 3 months. No thanks. I will look into alternatives. If you're in dire need of hand surgery, or a sports star, this is probably the doctor for you. If you're a regular person, then, sorry, seek help elsewhere. read more
