Is it possible to actually enjoy getting car insurance? Before Garrity, I'd say obviously not. Getting a new car insured & moving from out of state, there are many MA peculariaties to follow. So I did what I figured was best: shopped several big insurers like Progressive, Geico, AAA, etc. Half a day of waiting on the phone, half a dozen calls, and one half decent quote. Then went on reddit, on a whim, to see stunning reviews of this independent insurer, Garrity. Resigning myself to pay a half-decent insurance premium with AAA, but weird. Let's give it a shot. One phone call. I talked with Jamie & Kristi, who guided me through getting car insurance & were generally wonderful to talk with. And informative too! I felt like, for once, the insurance industry was actually on my side. Is there a catch? Surely the premium is going to be high. Not only did Jamie get me a plan virtually identical to the quote I had set aside, but she got it with ~10% less yearly cost! And after a day, she managed to cut it by another ~5%. All in one phone call and ~a follow-up email saying that she got a better rate. Yes please! Kristi took over with signing the paperwork (which was easy peasy) and she handed over my insurance info to the car dealer expediently. So efficient, responsive, and friendly! So let's summarize: I don't know these guys actually manage to 1) work faster; 2) get cheaper rates; and also 3) be friendlier and -- dare I say it -- more human. But what I can say is that these guys raise every bar there is, across customer service, getting the best rates, and working fast. So, is it possible to actually enjoy getting car insurance? Weirdly, yes. Now I have a bit of glee that, once my insurance renewal is up, I only have to make one phone call & know I'm going to be treated great as a customer. I was a long term client of Garrity Insurance, but unfortunately no longer. I had inquired about a new insurance policy with Mr. Garrity, whom had sent me an initial quote. After a couple of questions about the policy, Mr. Garrity essentially told me he need to spend time on his Master Policy holders and insinuated he couldn't be bothered with my questions. My questions were incredibly basic and had he bothered to call me, we could've answered them over the phone in less than 2 minutes. The ironic thing is I was looking to consolidate all my insurance with Garrity, but that will no longer be the case. I don't get my phone calls returned. The policy they have for me hasn't been able to be closed because I can never reach them. Travelers has continued to bill me every month for the policy in a state I no longer live in with cars I no longer have. I have tried time and again to cancel this with no resolve. Agent who kept presuming I was as educated in his field of insurance so continued to not inform me of all my options for not only Auto but Renters insurance. Which resulting in the agent felt slighted with asking go into detail about cost and coverage at which point hung up on me (so he thought) he goes on to falsely describe the call w/colleagues for about 3-5mins and then states "would receive bad review and should have handled the call much better". Garrity has been my agency for homeowners and auto insurance for many years. My partner was recently shopping for insurance, so I told him to check out Garrity. Jamie helped him out and he was very pleased with the whole process as well as the rates she found for him. When I was comparing my auto policy with his, I realized I had not increased my coverage in years, and the coverage I had was wayyy under what is generally recommended (review your policies people!!!).
