Breakfast combo
Golds V.

We wanted to try Tibetan food, and chose this based on the poster at the front of the store, which had a cute little story that I think would be worth while For anyone to read about the chef. I ordered the breakfast combo which came with a bland chickpea curry, excellent hot sauce/salsa,l that I secretly wished they would sell out of jars for us to take home, and a potatoe curry that was perfectly seasoned, and a small slaw I think for decoration. The bread that it came with was delicious, perfectly light fluffy and fried. The second dish was the mutton kothu roti, which is a Sri Lankan cuisine, and for not really taste anything like the traditional one I was expecting, it was actually a really interesting taste that I really think would be a cross between a fried Asian noodle dish using mutton pieces and a type of paratha roti. I enjoyed this dish very much. Of course when your at a Tibetan restaurant you need to get momos, and we did! We ordered the fried chili beef momos, which I could t take a picture of cause my hands were drenched in grease from eating the other two dishes. This dish I felt was very heavy, as we ordered fried momos, I would have liked the boiled, but my dining partner really wanted to trey friend. The dumplings were sitting in chilie oil, and was topped with I think an onion sauce, I could t really tell. This dish was something I really think I would Have enjoyed more had it not been fried so we will give it another go that way, but the filling was excellent! The staff were exceptional, the restaurant was clean, there were several options and a secret mwnu. This place is loved by the locals, we had the pleasure of chatting with one while we were waiting for our food to come, which said it doesn't matter what you order it's always good. And I think he was mostly right.

Being from Vancouver, I have had limited exposure to Tibetan/Nepalese food, which is a shame because it tastes amazing! The momos and other dishes have an amazing blend of East Asian and South Asian that I think is extremely unique. A blending together of the best the world has to offer in terms of food. No other part of the world has anything that could even come close in terms of taste. I look forward to going here again for dine-in when the pandemic is over.

Chicken Momo ....so juicy and delicious

The best Momo's are here at Garleek Kitchen located in Little Tibet or Parkdale. You can order the Momo's steamed or fried. The Momos are filled with Chicken. Beef and Veggie. I couldn't decide on which filling ....so Chef Karma asked if I wanted a mix with all the different types. It was amazing. Just be careful with the first bite since they will be very hot! I would definitely order from this

I was reading all the good reviews so I knew I had to come to try their momos. My son is an avid fan of another establishment so I have to come without him. Definitely freshly made as you wait 10-15 minutes for them and the filling is tasty with a good amount of filling too. The wrappers are green as you know you're getting extra vegetables with them. Their hot sauce was decent. I think Tashi Delek has the best hot sauce so far. Though I do love the chili paste at Loga's (different than his hot sauce which is a bit hotter than Garleek's) I definitely want to come back to try more things. The khotu roti and thali are on my list. And eventually their beef momos too. The place was filled wIth Tibetans which is always a good sign. It's a small place but the energy is good and the food is terrific. Definitely a win-win Update: so I've been back twice now. So now I've tried 1. All 3 types of momos 2. Thentuk soup veggie but with beef both 3. Mutton curry 4. Kothu roti veggie Ok so the veggie momos are still the best thing I've had. The broth was great but lacking in veggies. The curry was very flavourful and worth getting again. The kothu Roti was very plain. Lacking in spice, we added hot sauce to it. And again lacking in veggies. It didn't need much but there was basically none. Still want to try the thali

I am back with the review of this awesome place. We ordered veg steam and veg chilli momos and they have some other options too if you like. The Momos were definitely amazing. I really liked the place and the staff members were really kind as well. Located in the parkdale area. I specifically like the chilli oil and the sauce. The preparations are too good. I definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Fried Beef and Chicken Momos! So good!

Let's say we do that parking lot thing we all used to do "back in the day!" TL:DR - Great Restaurant, go get some! You know the one. You stand around in a circle...No...No...No... Not that Thing! Well...maybe after that thing when all of a sudden you are sooooo hungry, you'll eat a dirty street dog from a vending cart! Well...I digress. The parking lot convo is usually about where should we go to eat. Lots of ideas, then no matter what one person says, there's one that ends it by saying..."I'm not feeling it." Then the game starts over again! How about, Nepalese? Tibetan? Vietnamese? Indian? Sri Lankan?!? Murmurs die off and somehow there is interest in every category! People start dropping from pure hunger and other start to gnaw on trees and hunt small animals! What if I tell you that there is a place that does all those cuisine and pays full respect to each by creating excellent food. Welcome to Garleek Kitchen Asian Fusion Restaurant. A passionate chef and his charming wife opened up a winner in Little Tibet. Garleek, what were they thinking when they came up with that name? Well the story is actually pretty cool, especially when Chef Tsering Phuntsok took time out of his kitchen to answer my query on the name. Before Garleek, young Tsering was working in a factory and going to school to get his high school equivalent certificate. It was hard work and he befriended many people. One African man in particular would share his traditional meals with him. Tsering would prepare pork dishes, while his friend would prepare chicken. Simple foods with great flavour. Tsering revealed that he uses a lot of Garlic in his food preparations. After a little prodding, his friend told him that his secret ingredient was Leeks. Tsering said to himself....hmmmm.... Garlic and Leeks! Garleek! That will be what I will name my restaurant. And...that he did. Enter into the tiny shop and look up at the digital display. It will show food from many countries. As usual, a lot of food was ordered and equally enjoyed. Beef Chowmein, Aloo Dum, variety of Momos, Pho, and my personal favourite...Khotu Roti. Oh...Momos is their dumplings - in case you were trying to figure that one out (like I was - face palm). Oh my...Khotu Roti is basically taking Roti and shredding them into little bits and preparing them with vegetables and proteins. So basically a stirred fried noodle type dish but substitute roti in for the carbs. It was so delicious, I am thinking about it while writing this review....DroolZ!!! Please note that many places pre-fab the Momos. Not here. Ensure that you have plenty of time to order and wait -- worth every minute you invest. The freshly prepared and delicious dumplings will set you back 15mins for the order. Take your time. Savour each bite. BTW - each dish is priced at more than reasonable. Go try them all! As I mentioned in earlier reviews, I've been seeking out small and local biz that purvey new and amazing culinary treats. You also know that if a place delivers good food, service, and value -- it's the Trifecta!!!! It's a 5 Star Review. I've been giving out quite a bit of these gems lately. I'm willing to give out as many as I can because isn't it better to enjoy a 5 start at every meal, than hit a 1-star and ruin your night? Chef Tsering and Jenna (oh please...oh please...let me get her name right!) are fine people running a great spot in the "center of the universe" call the 6ix! I for one luv their place. Only if I can convince them to move to the 9ine, then I can have Momos everyday!!! :D CHEERS!!!

Mutton kuttu roti

Really good mutton Kottu roti and Chai! I also ordered the dumplings but i think the covers! Service is quick! I just have one complaint- they need to fix their noisy entrance door. This is a fairly small place and the noisy door is really disturbing!

If you like intimate family run restaurants, Garleek Kitchen will definitely provide that cozy experience. The dining room consists of less than ten tables, and on a weekday visit, the entire operations was run by a single person - quite a feat to be host, waiter, and chef. To keep things simple, their menu is displayed on a television and cutlery & key condiments are found on the table. Meanwhile, most of the time, the proprietor is in the kitchen, making everything to order including the momos. These dumplings are the delicious pouches I remember most from past Tibetan meals. With the option to steam, pan fry, or deep fry the dumplings, we tried them two ways - pan-fried and steamed. The chicken pan-fried momos ($8.99) definitely hit the spot. The toasted crust adding a nice contrast compared to the soft top of the dumpling. While the nub in the middle of the dough was a bit too thick, the white meat chicken filling was juicy and savoury. So good the spicy dipping sauces weren't even required. They were needed for the steam vegetables momo ($7.99). While the chunky chili sauce added heat and extra flavour, the dumplings could still use more salt. Nevertheless, the filling consisted of an interesting combination of vegetables, which Garleek should consider leaving some less cooked (everything was rather soft) so the texture will vary. Nepalese chicken chow mein ($8.50) is made from thin chewy noodles cooked on a hot flattop so it develops a crust on some strands. Like Cantonese chow mein, there are the crispy and soft bits within the plate, but Garleek's is less oily and isn't topped with sauce allowing the noodles to remain crunchy. I loved the aromatic wok hay of the dish, but the chicken needs less time on the grill as it was overdone and dry.

Always love coming to Garleek. The portions are generous and the prices are dirt cheap. Usually I come here for their breakfast combo but their momos and other mains were great as well. Pro tip: ask for the momo hot sauce if you want fiery goodness but be careful! The hot sauce is extremely spicy

Mixed Momo and chicken Chow Mein

We decided to do a quiet valentines day dinner and we chose Garleek Kitchen since my wife had been raving about the reviews. Even though my family is from South East Asia I have barely tried the cuisine from the region that goes beyond my country, so I was very excited to try cuisine from the our Himalayan neighbors. Located in the Little Tibet neighborhood of Parkdale, this restaurant is very unassuming. There's probably seating for just under 20 people and it was very busy on 8pm on a Thursday night even though the rest of the neighborhood was quiet. We ordered the Mixed Momo plate which was a mix of beef, chicken and vegetarian dumplings. I got the Chicken Thali and my wife got the Chicken Chowmein. These are all dishes that I am familiar with by name and sight because they share common elements with cuisine from Bangladesh but it's the taste and the spices that are so vividly different that I have to give my hat off to the chef. Highly recommend this place if you are willing to step out of your comfort zone and try something new from a very different part of the world. It's not the most visually appealing or filled with Instagram worthy decor, but the food is made out of love and perfected by skill and it really shows in the taste of the dishes.

I honestly didnt know what a Momo was before coming here. For simplicity you could think of it as a dumpling. But then the cooking style needs to be identified - which is cool because Garleek offers all 3 styles! There's deep fried, pan fried, and steamed! The textures drastically change but all 3 taste delicious. Whats great is the wrapping is made, flavored and done in house. They have a great selection of sauces, my personal favorite are the deep fried beef momos, but they have chicken and vegetarian as well. There's also classics like fried rice, noodles and Tibet Spinach Dip which is a great unique take on the classic. Service was incredible and the head chef took the time to greet us and say hi which was a nice touch.

Garleek is an unpretentious but cozy little restaurant. The chef told us the story of how the name "Garleek" came to be. Yup, it does have something to do with garlic and leek lol. Since I have never tried Tibetan tea before, I was delighted that they offered it on the menu. It tasted like tea with a bit if salt. The menu is also pretty diverse, ranging from Tibetan to Napalese to Indian food. My favorites were the momos and khotu roti. The momos were one of the bigger momos I have seen. And it was juicy and filling. The biggest surprise was the khotu roti for $10. It is essentially shredded bread. BUT they did magic to it so that it tasted like chinese ho fan to me. It was simply delicious!!!!! Service was super friendly no matter how busy they got. And I like how the chef would pop in and out to chat from time to time. Prices are very reasonable for the dishes. A definite must go back!!!

Thali was delicious and usually eaten with your hands

Need cheap eats in the Parkdale area? I've got the perfect spot for you hidden away in a small Fusion restaurant with some of the best Momo's I've ever had with equally as delicious homemade hot sauce you'll want to buy and take home. This place serves food from Napal, Vietnam, Tibet, India and Sri Lanka. It's a small shop that Chef Tsering Phuntsok and his Italian wife has opened up and you can tell that Tsering is passionate about his cooking and food and you can taste it in each dish that comes out. Tsering learned at a young age from his grandmother and was taught her secret recipes, later on joining a monastery where he mastered traditional Tibetan cuisine, then travelled to India and Nepal to learn their cuisines. The name of the restaurant comes from garlic and leek put together and if you want to hear the story about how it all came about, just ask the chef himself. I came with a group of 6 people and we devoured everything that came and was thoroughly impressed with the portions, the taste and the price of each dish. Favourites of the night included the Chowmein $8.50 with a choice of beef, chicken, pork or veggie, The Kothu Roti $10, I believe this dish was served with mutton and is basically stir fried shredded Roti, veggies, meat/egg and spices. We all really loved how unique the Kothu Roti dish was with yummy bits of crispy roti that gave it a nice texture that's different than anything I've ever had. Another group favourite was the Tibetan classic pan fried momos which came crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, but also not to be missed is the Thali and surprisingly flavourful Pho. This place offers Uber eats and Skip the Dishes delivery which I plan to take advantage of when I crave food from here. I do recommend having the pan fried momo's fresh as it would taste better. Hours of operations are from 8am-9pm daily which is amazing! The service is very attentive and friendly and the place is clean.

By the time we left, there was waiting to get a table. And for a good reason. The food is exceptional, got the tandoori chicken momo, chicken lollipop and Himalayan special fried rice. Everything was amazing. The lollipops are killer, highly recommend them but you can't go wrong with any of the dishes. Will definitely recommend this place. We also had the tamarind mojito which was so good and refreshing.

They have a very extensive menu with plenty of options. We ordered steamed chicken momo, chicken curry, mutton thali, sha baley, and kurkure momo. Total after fees and tip was $125. It's a lot of food. We weren't able to finish it all. The steamed momo was very good. That was probably the favorite. However the choice for filling of the momos is limited. You only have chicken or veggie. Seeing order photos of menus from two years ago they used to offer beef Himalayan momos. The chicken curry was very filling! But it made a bit of a mess. Packaging could be improved. The mutton thali was well received. The components were packaged separately. So some assembly is required. The yogurt is sweet. The kurkure momo was very crispy and fresh. But all of the sauces (3 or 4) included were spicy. I would have liked a mild option. It's a little too dry to eat without a sauce. The sha baley is a bit like an empanada. It was very good. They're quite big. I'd say each one was the size of my hand. Very filling. They came in a paper bag. It's pretty tasty food with a good value!

Food 4/5 Service 4/5…read moreAmbiance 4/6 Food: We ordered the meat platter, salmon momo half plate, & sho-go momo. For dessert we had the deep fried banana. Everything was delicious & freshly made. We really liked the sho-go momo (potato & onion). The deep fried banana is good too. Not too much batter which I liked a lot. I would definitely eat here again. Service: It's a little slow because there are only two people running the restaurant when we visited. They both were doing the cooking & serving. Hubby & I didn't mind because we weren't in a hurry. I think they should have some waitstaff to help them out. Ambiance: It's a clean restaurant. There are prayer flags strung up from the ceiling. The music they play sounded like monks chanting. It's a very relaxed vibe. On a hot summer day it was nice, breezy & cool inside. It felt nice at first but I started getting cold after a while. Their bathrooms are in the basement & we're also clean. The ceilings are a little low in the basement so you have to watch your head. All in all it was an enjoyable lunch. My favourite was the sho-go momos (potato & onion).

Well today I finally decided to make good on that promise and while I was not blown away it was a positive experience overall. The first thing I noticed about the menu was how many momo options were available. A lot of different choices from your basic chicken/beef/pork to butter chicken momos so lots of options. I ended up just getting a half plate of steamed pork momos along with the chilli chicken. The momos were pretty average in terms of taste even when I used the sauces provided. Perhaps the fried version would have been better but I definitely was underwhelmed with this one. As for the chilli chicken, the flavour was decent and for those who love saucy dishes like me this one is not saucy at all. I asked for a 5-6 on a scale of 10 for spiciness and it definitely had a bit of a kick but nothing too spicy. In terms of taste it was decent however I found the chicken to be a bit on the dry side but not too bad. The folks there were super friendly and overall service was not bad. The food arrived quickly too which was a good thing as I was hungry. There was plenty of seating in the restaurant and it was spaced out nicely so it was comfortable to be in. There were a lot of cabinets with different items in them so it might be interesting to look around while you wait for your food. Overall, I enjoyed the visit and will definitely come back to try other items on the menu.
