A bit of a hole in the wall in Yorkville. The dumplings were flavourful and juicy. You get to choose your choice of protein filling. We went with the pork and beef fillings for steamed regular and steamed chilli sauce. We did not expect the bell peppers and there was definitely a sweetness to the sauce. I tried the steamed vegetarian momo with butter chicken sauce, which was creamy and not spicy at all, adding a nice richness to the dish. The MoMo House did momos right. They have a wide variety of options, with the butter paneer momos being the tastiest (in my opinion). Think masala mixed with dim sum. The steamed veggie dumplings are also great, just a bit more plain. I appreciated the mix to balance out the heavier butter momos. The mango lassi was the perfect way to round out the spiciness and heat of the restaurant. Couldn't give this 5 stars because of the inconvenience of the location. There aren't many tables, it was super hot, and no water unless you buy bottles. This felt more like a takeout spot, but simple changes could have made it a bit more friendly. Stopped in for lunch here. You walk down a skinny store to the back counter to order. There are tables along the left side. I liked that it was a small menu as that meant, to me, that they specialize, and I'm a big momo fan. There were a few versions available, the steamed ones are what I ordered; they had fried and you could choose from 4 styles (beef, pork, vegetarian and another I don't remember). I picked the pork steamed momos and picked dine in on the payment screen. They delivered the hot momos in a pretty copper hammered bowl. They were good, but were missing the bit of broth I enjoy inside the dumpling. Not nearly what I'm used to, from the momo shops in little Nepal on the west side of the city. More expensive, but they are downtown. But definitely worth a try and way more convenient for me today. As to atmosphere, it's pretty basic. The tables were clean and had a cute little plant on top. Every few minutes the rumble of the subway could be heard (maybe felt). There's a table at the front window. The window on the right side overlooked an indoor hall and a pharmacy. read more

Conveniently located right outside of Bay station, this hole in a wall location is great for a quick eat. My partner and I were craving momos randomly and went here. I really like the chili sauce they poured over the momos The fluorescent orange sauce complemented the momos very well and we devoured the dumplings within minutes as soon as it came. I really wanted to like this location. I have met the owner at the Parkdale location and he is so kind. However, the service and the way they structure this location is bad. Firstly, there is no water unless you purchase bottled water. Service is no where to be seen. You order first (and be prepared you will be tipping first). Then you realize the lack of service you'll get. They will give your food and that's it. You even have to put away your dishes. As for the momo's I was hoping I could mix and match. You use to be able to do this in the Parkdale location. However, not here. Therefore, if you are eating alone you'll only be able to try 1 flavour. Prices have gone up since I last visit the Parkdale location during the pandemic. I really hope they change up the way they serve. Provide jug of water for your customers. Provide a smile to them and offer to mix and match so your customers are able to try different kinds of delicious momos. read more

I tried the MoMo House in Parkdale a few years ago, so was happy to discover this location downtown. It's right next to Bay Station and perfect for a quick bite. We went with steamed MoMo - one beef, one pork, one chilli momo and one with butter chicken sauce. The MoMos here came hot and delicious. What really impressed me at this location were the sauces. Momos I've ordered along the Queen West strip are sometimes a little dry, with not much sauce on offer. These, in contrast, were swimming in it and the chilli sauce had a great spicy kick and a decent handful of red and green bell pepper chunks and onions. The interior is simple and comfortable, the service was efficient and friendly, and the price point was perfect for a generous and filling portion! read more

Partner brought back two orders of momos and they made the perfect quick dinner for two. One was the butter chicken momo and the other was the kurkure momo. The butter chicken momo looks to be pan fried and then doused in a creamy butter chicken sauce. The momos take on a lovely golden color and the skin of the momos are not too thick. Great filling to wrapper ratio. The seasoning of the momo is good but not overly salty. Soft, pillowy, creamy bites of deliciousness. The kurkure momos are deep fried and on the opposite side of the texture spectrum from the butter chicken momos. They are crispy and crunchy on outside, the skin is slightly chewy and the filling is soft and fragrant. My first bite squirted out juices from the momo, so be careful! Both are great momos, just depending on what you are seeking! read more

I was in Toronto staying at UoT for a week and this was my go to east takeout spot. Relatively cheap for a very filling meal. One order of momos is definitely enough for one person, only order more if you have multiple people or want lots of leftovers. I tried the butter momo with chicken and with vegetarian. The different fillings dictate different types of dumpling shapes. I thought the vegetarian filling was definitely the best. Full of flavor! The chicken filling had a thicker dumpling dough which was still good but I preferred the thinner dough for the vegetarian. The butter momos come in a nice sauce and aren't spicy (but you can ask for chili sauce on the side to add to your liking). The only thing was that on several different occasions when I ordered the same thing I received varying amounts of sauce, most of the time is was good but twice there was barely any sauce at all which was disappointing. So the consistency was a bit off for me but otherwise good. The interior is very small and really only good for a single or two people max groups. There is no water available besides paid bottled water which was disappointing. But the service was prompt and friendly. If you order online for pickup the dumplings are ready super fast, like consistently 5 minute wait time which was really nice. read more

I've always wanted to try this place. Every time I walk by, I'm reminded of it but never planned a trip to eat there until yesterday. I ordered the chili momo with beef. I assumed it would be steamed but it was fried. I prefer steamed dumplings, but I had hoped the restaurant fried it because they think it tasted better. Or maybe the chili one comes fried? I don't know... I wish I clarified while ordering. The beef filling was HARD. I half felt like I was chewing on cartilage. I have never had such head beef before, even when eating homemade lean dumplings. I also did not like the chili sauce. It reminded me of a sweet chili sauce, and not hakka chili chicken tasting sauce that I was expecting. The dumplings came with a tiny portion of hot sauce, about half a teaspoon. That was pretty tasty, which it came with more. The restaurant also does not provide water for dine in, which was not disclosed to me before I paid and left a generous tip. The person I dined with ordered pork dumplings and the cashier said "good pick." Maybe the pork ones are more tender... overall, I definitely wouldn't come back to this place. Especially at its price point. It was nearly $20 for what I felt was a snack. I don't understand how it has such high ratings. I'm hoping I just ordered the wrong item. read more

Full disclosure - I rarely meet a dumpling that I don't like. That said - I have added a dumpling place to my regular list. I have dined in (I think just after they opened this locations) and had take out, tried the beef, pork, chicken and spicy momo's. The spice is a little too intense for me - but my partner enjoys it. The menu seems to be expanding so I will defintiely be back to keep sampling the new additions. read more

I walked by this place a couple times and had to try... the logo was so cute! My family wanted to try as we'd never tried Tibetan cuisine before. It is such a cute little restaurant and quite busy with people eating inside and takeout deliverers going in and out. We ordered the chili chicken, butter chicken, and Tsel momos, so 24 in total for 4 of us. We definitely should have ordered another 8 as they were so good! My favourite was the chili chicken but they were all really good! The sauce provided is a flavourful addition. If I'm ever in Yorkville again I'd pick up a pack of 8 to-go! read more

Yum! I got the chicken jhol momos for the first time and they were banging. They taste similar to dumplings and they also come with chilli oil for those who want a spicier taste. It was getting close to full blown hanger on a Sunday night and with this place being relatively close we had hoped delivery wouldn't take too long. We were pleasantly surprised that from order to delivery it took less than 30 minutes. We went a little overboard ordering 3 momo's and steamed buns so we had almost 2 full meals per person. The website offers no descriptions other than protein for the different momo's so it was a little difficult to navigate. Thankfully they do designate which items are vegetarian. Everything was absolutely delicious (and the perfect amount of spicy), we will definitely order again and would love to try some of the other options that weren't available. I was looking at their menu on their website while my spouse was looking at Uber. It seems like there might be slight differences on availability between the two as some items weren't available on Uber but were on the website. We ultimately ordered on Uber which also didn't seem to offer 5 piece momo's only 8 piece. read more

This is my first Tibetan restaurant I've been to in Toronto and it was really tasty! You might be asking what a Momo is. A Momo is a type of East and South Asian steamed filled dumpling...my fave! We definitely ate a feast and you've got to make sure you try a few of them on your next visit. Some of the delicious items that I got to try were: Butter Chicken Momo , Chat Momo, Jhol Momo, Chilli Momo, Kurkure Fried Momo, The customer service is amazing - they gave me a free coffee on the house because they're just super nice people! This is one of the best spots in Yorkville...each item is full of rich flavour, the quality of the ingredients used are very high and the value is outstanding for the price! We also enjoyed the fried butter chicken momo, which you can't go wrong with - light yet satisfying. We went during the mid-afternoon and service was quick and friendly. I work in Parkdale and always frequent their OG Momo House location and it's amazing to see this fantastic restaurant branching out. I highly recommend pretty much any of their momo's - my favourite has got to be the fried butter chicken momo's with chicken as the protein. But also their chilli momo with beef and the kurkure momo (which is lightly battered and oh so crunchy) is heavenly! I love that you can customize the amount, the filling, as well as whether you want it steamed or fried. The possibilities are truly endless! Don't forget to pick up a refreshing mango lassi and a tingmo (aka the best, softest and largest steamed bun ever) to wipe up all the delicious sauces while you're eating! The sauce was the winner in this dish. It combined the sweet flavor with a hint of spice. The balance between these two was excellent. Both dishes came with small chilli dipping sauce on a side. Saw Momo House while walking through Yorkville, my favorite Toronto neighborhood. I was very hungry and in a bit of a rush so I popped in and was met by a lovely young lady who quickly walked me through the various menu options, and together we chose the butter chicken dumplings. The dumpling 'shells' were like little pillows of culinary happiness - soft yet firm, easy to eat with chopsticks and the perfect size to pop in your mouth as a snack. The chicken was tender and the sauce was outstanding, with a side of spice (served separately) that was complex and HOT and could probably cure COVID it was that good. Perfect place for a quick snack or to order takeout and delivery, and the shop is large enough to comfortably order eat-in dining. Very happy I found MoMo! read more

Nice to see Tibetan food making it this far north in the city. Ordered the Tsel Momo and they were too pretty, so pretty that I ate them before I could take a picture of them. Thiccc too, thicker momos than I've ever had before which made them deceptively more filling than I originally perceived (initially I was disappointed by the serving size of 8 but after I ate it I was well-satisfied). Great food, interesting ambiance, friendly staff and well-flavoured. Would be interesting to see if they will make more vegetarian options, or allow customizations like their makhani sauce on the vegetarian momos in the future. read more
