    Butter tea

After my husband and I watched the movie "Seven Years in Tibet" on Netflix, we were craving Tibet food. We saw this place in Kensington market, so we decide to come here to try it out. I recommend this place for food, but I don't recommend the movie "Seven Years in Tibet", I don't like the movie. We order the beef momos, thukpa noodle soup, and butter tea. I like the beef momos, it is different from the traditional Chinese dumplings. The thukpa noodle soup is made of short noodles and vegetables. Butter tea is not my cup of tea. It is BOBA, but with salt. This place has a patio. It is a nice gem in the Kensington market.

I got fried momos and fried rice. The cappuccino was great. The staff took time to explain the menu and make recommendation. There are only few vegetarian options. No vegan options. Eggs are essential part of some of the dishes. The place is not fancy but food is delicious and worth it.

On a rainy day while walking in the Kensington street, I stopped by this Tibet Cafe and ordered chicken steamed momos. A plate of momos should cost you $10 and you'll get 8 pieces and some salad. The momos were very juicy and tasty, the chilli dip was too the point and I was satisfied with the quality and quantity served. I would highly recommend this place to people who crave for Momos. The ambience is also super amazing for both inside and our door sitting.

After having tried momos in many different Tibetan restaurants in the GTA, I keep coming back to Tibet Cafe in Kensington Market because their vegetarian momos are simply one of the best out there. The vegetarian filling - made up of vegetables (cabbage, mushrooms) and tofu - is packed with flavour. The outer dough is nice and chewy. It's served with a side of simple fresh garden salad and spicy red sauce. The interior of the restaurant is cozy - there are patios both in front and at the back of the restaurant (the patio at the back tends to be quieter). There are big tables near the back / middle part of the restaurant - perfect for groups.

Not sure why a Tibet restaurant would serves also pasta. It is also a pub serving alcohol as well. The reason I visited this restaurant was due to my longing of tasty MoMo dumplings. When I was in Hong Kong, I have tasted the best dumplings ever, and it was from a Tibetan MoMo restaurant. It was juicy with a thin soft dumpling wrap, finished with a very flavorful sauce. However, this restaurant has nothing that resembles that. The dumpling wrap was thick and floury, the meat was dry and lack of meat flavor. And the sauce was like a tomato pasta sauce!!! This is all wrong. So, if you want real MoMo, this restaurant does not do MoMo the real justice.

Very good fried chicken momos at a non-fussy hole-in-the-wall in Kensington Market! The shells were not too thick and the fillings were flavorful. Sure, there is absolutely not much of an ambiance, but the service was friendly and pretty quick, so it worked great as a quick lunch stop. I would definitely consider coming back if I find myself craving Tibetan food in Toronto!

First time tried Tibet's cuisine and it was yummy, kind of reminded me my native Ukrainian one to be honest -:)

I ordered beef Momo and tingmo. Momo was good but I would have enjoyed it more with different traditional "achar"/sauce. The Tingmo I got here was just amazing!! Such butter flavoured.. Yumm.

Cozy restaurant in Kensington, roomier than I expected. Had the pan fried chicken momos ($14), the dough thickness was ideal and I liked the spicy sauce. Good service, I think they are family-owned. Worth trying

We were strolling around Kensington market when I spotted Tibet Cafe. I've never had Tibetan food but have heard so many good things so we decided to stop for a quick bite and drink. Bonus that the Euro games were on at the same time so we got to catch a bit of the Germany vs. Poland match. Their patio in the back is super cozy - pretty sure we would have sat there if the game wasn't on. Otherwise, you can sit out on the entrance patio and people watch the day away. The menu. Damn, they have crazy hours. 7 days a week, 12:00pm - 12:00am??? Never understand when there's all day breakfast and burgers on the menu. Do people seriously order that? Key in on the Tibetan specialties - momo's. For drinks, it was a hot one so we both wanted to try their smoothies. - Mango smoothie ($3.50) - Ju ordered a mango smoothie which was honestly terrible. It was overloaded with ice and I couldn't taste any mangoes. Wasn't impressed. - Avocado and mango smoothie ($5.00) - avocado by itself is $4.00 but our waitress told us it would be an extra $1.00 to make my favourite fruit drink combo. No biggie as long as it was good. Well, the avocado that they used must not have been fresh as it was almost tasteless and lacked any creamy thickness. Pass on their drinks! - Beef momo ($9.50) - my first time trying momo's which are a Tibetan specialty. Homemade, half-moon dumplings are the best and these were fantastic. You have to wait about 15 minutes for your order but trust me, it's worth it. Eight juicy pieces stuffed to the tellies with meat. - Chicken momo ($9.50) - we were only going to get one dish of momo's to share but the beef ones were so tasty that we decided to order a round of chicken momo's to compare. Comes with the same side salad (meh) and Tibetan dipping sauce. Ju was telling me that each sauce is different as each restaurant has their own homemade/secret recipe. I can't decide which momo I liked best but can safely say both were extremely satisfying. Cool Toronto has such a wide, diverse group of cuisines to try. There are quite a few Tibetan places so I would love to try a couple more next time in town. Tibet Cafe was a solid first experience into the land of Tibetan food.

I really wanted to like this restaurant since I have a close Tibetan friend who always tells me to try Tibetan momo. When I got here, it was clear that there wasn't much business (I was the only customer). It's clear that this is a family restaurant. I was a bit upset by the few drunk people on the front porch of the restaurant which made me feel quite uncomfortable. They seem to be customers of the restaurant. I ordered the chicken momo, basically chicken Tibetan dumplings, and it came in around 10-15 minutes. The food was really, really good. It also came with a side salad as well. The reason I'm only giving it a three star is because of the atmosphere. It felt really dead and I felt really uncomfortable sitting in front of the window, watching drunk people yell and shout on the front porch. I would come back here for food, but probably takeout.

I came here on a Saturday night as a party of three. Tibet Cafe is a little shop hidden in Kensington Market, it's a bit difficult to find as the sign isn't very obvious. There was barely anybody here on the Saturday, only 2-3 tables were occupied and there was still lots of space to sit. The restaurant doesn't look like much, there isn't much decor and you can tell that the place has been here for a while - it shows its age and there is no new renovations done. The service was friendly and they got to our order quickly, even mentioning that the steamed moms will take a little more time to cook. We ordered four dishes for the three of us: the vegetarian tofu soup, shrimp fried rice, chicken steamed momos, and vegetarian fried momos. I felt their portions were very generous. I enjoyed the flavours as it wasn't too heavy and spiced, but refreshing and with hints of flavour. The broth for the soup was rich and there was a lot of tofu with it. The fried rice wasn't too fried and greasy and there was quite a lot of shrimp given as well. I loved the momos, and thought they were packed fully with ingredients. The vegetarian momos were fried perfectly, and had a nice crunch to it. The chicken momos were generous on the chicken side, and I felt quite full eating four of them. The menu has many more options to choose from. I felt it was funny that they offered a 'Sandwich/Little Italy' section, when all the other sections were catered to their more traditional Tibetan food. Overall I enjoyed the food and the portion for the price we paid - I would definitely come back for more momos!

I haven't had momos for a long time! We weren't disappointed! You have to wait about 15 minutes for the momos to be made fresh but the time goes quickly! The dumpling soup was steamy and flavourful and we were so glad we ordered it! The owners are friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back! :)

I was venturing around Union Station for lunch and came across Harvest Clean eats!…read more First impression was that they had a lot of options on their menu that also accommodated various dietary restrictions - lots of vegan and vegetarian options were available. I was craving a warm bowl and their new Spicy Miso Salmon Bowl caught my eye. The price of the bowl was on the higher end (~$22 before tax/tip) but not surprised as we're in the downtown core. I will say .. the portions were very generous and all the ingredients were very fresh! I was pleasantly surprised and am satisfyingly full. They had a lot of different vegetable options mixed in and the rice was nice and warm, reflecting the freshness once again. There were a lot of other items on the menu that I was interested in so I would be keen to return, especially for their smoothies. The ladies at the cash were very quick and helpful when I had some questions about my order. I got my bowl pretty quickly (~11:30 am) but can imagine this place gets busy. Luckily they do let you order in advance so may take advantage of that next time.

Food 4/5 Service 5/5…read moreAmbiance 4/5 Harvest Clean Eats is located within the Union Station food court. This is one of the few healthy options at union station. I got the steak salad with some customization (no corn). Just a note for those who have allergies, the steak already has a sauce on it. I was okay with the sauce so I didn't ask for any modification there. I came before the lunch rush but this place was already relatively busy so I had to wait about 10-15 minutes for my food. Given everything downtown is pricey, I'd say Harvest Clean Eats is in line with downtown prices. It costs me under $20 for the salad. I think the quality of the food was good and I was satisfied but not bursting. Portions for the salad were reasonable for the price as well. The person taking the orders at cash was friendly & knew what they were doing. Everything went smoothly. Ambiance is food court ambiance. LOL. Harvest Clean Eats has a few small tables in their area but isn't big enough for a large crowd. So I preferred to order & bring my food back to the office. I would definitely order here again when I want something healthy.
