I came here for dinner the night I arrived in London. If you are a tourist, fish and chips is probably the one dish you need to try on your visit.
Garfunkel's seems to be a casual dining chain here. The atmosphere is similar to Applebee's, BJ's, and Chili's in the US. Plenty of tables and booths inside.
They serve a variety of American food, ranging from pastas to pizzas to burgers. I opted for the fish and chips from the British Classics menu. It was £12.95, which is around $16 USD. Kind of a hefty price, but the portion was fair. The cod was cooked well, and the fried batter was crispy. The chips (US - fries) seemed a little soft, compared to the ones I've had back home.
I do have to note that the rest of the dishes were a bit bland, but that was also the problem at every restaurant I ate here.
Service was a little slow, but it was crowded when we came. Overall, the American menus is lacking, but I definitely enjoyed many of the British Classics offerings. read more
