They are a tad more expensive than others, but it is worth it. I found them to be honest and forthcoming with services and cost. Dr. Pixton and Dr. Dale are both wonderful. (dr. DellaMonica who retired recently) I feel seen and they gently guided us through our losses and made themselves available to address concerns and what to expect. They have made changes in the front desk/admin staff to accommodate the sheer volume of patients which at first I felt was too businesslike, and a little wonky. Now, I see totally make visits seamless. We have rarely had to wait more than a few minutes. To be fair, it is cheaper to use Chewy for some OTC's/food and prescriptions (heart worm) etc, which I do. They have a portal where they can connect with Chewy to send prescriptions through. At this point, I would not trust any other vet with our pets.

I attempted to tell my story to the assistant manager, Jeanine who wasn't interested in the feedback I was asked to provide. She was dismissive and began talking over me which frustrated me. Then she got rude and over reacted to my frustration and told me I am under review and should look for another vet. I was shocked by the cold, unprofessional way I was treated.. Instead of an apology, I was kicked out and they said they would send my records to bring to another vet.

First time meeting Dr Mary Griffith. Loved her! She and her assistant sat on the floor so my two dogs could come and sniff them without immediately putting one up on the table. I did not want to use the App but was told I had to cause she didn't want to make any mistakes taking my information down. I reluctantly downloaded the App. which would not allow me to change any of my information so I called back and got a different person on the phone and told her I was having trouble with the App I did not want to use and was there anyway they can change my information on the account it has been years since I was there. I happen to be a Vet tech and my pets were seen at another hospital and I wanted to have my pet evaluated by a specific doctor which annoyed the receptionist. I was asked for a 50$ deposit to hold the appointment which I gave the CC information over the phone; funny they had no problem taking that information over the phone. I also said I would send my pets records over from previous Vet and that I would take care of it and preferred that they didn't call for records that annoyed them also. I then emailed my records which they had trouble finding them through email and the practice manager called me back to ask what had occurred while making the appointment. Which I explained and that I would bring the records in the day of the appointment if the records cannot be retrieved by my email. I was told then that they had to have the records of my pet prior to coming for the appointment cause they had to review them. This was a new problem so past records would be irrelevant- all previous exams were normal she is up to date with vaccines and this was a new problem that it's a possible heart issue. She then questioned if it was detected by a doctor, which I said no, I think she has this problem and wanted her evaluated by a doctor which annoyed her. What does it matter if I think something is wrong with my pets heart? This was the reason I wanted to make said appointment to have it checked by a doctor and that annoyed her. I was told if I did not have the records there prior to my appointment that I would be charged 40$extra to process the records if I bring them in. I expressed that they were creating a problem before I even step through the doors. She said I could speak with Dr. Dallas who gave me the same run around was then told I could not come to the practice. I have got to say this was the most ridiculous exsprience Ever to occur from a Veterinary practice and I have worked in the field for 30 years. I have Never seen I doctor review files prior to a patient coming in. Yes vaccine information is needed but my pet was up to date which I told them over the phone when making said appointment. This practice is absurd and it's unfortunate cause the Veterinarian I want my pet to see is now working out of this practice and I cannot get an appointment because their feelings were hurt and these tyrant, ridiculous business practices. Absolutely absurd- if you can't take information like updating address and phone number over the phone you shouldn't be answering it- and if a client doesn't want to use an App to communicate by they should not be forced to do so. This practice is not friendly- they don't want to have any human connection why would anyone trust them with a pet?

Having been a steady client of Chester Veterinary Clinic for over 10 years one has observed a…read moresteady decline in the care provided along with an abnormally high veterinarian turnover in recent years. But was horrified with my past visit and feel it's my obligation to communicate this experience. The attending veterinarian failed to carry out the most basic and prescribed exam functions during my feline's annual visit. This included failure to take the cat's temperature, doing a through examination of his teeth or even checking his ears or fur coat for the presence of mites. The only handling done was an abdominal and kidney check which lasted approximately 1 minute. All other wellness checks previously described were omitted which were always performed in the past by other veterinarians at this business. The only questions concerning my pet's overall condition, health and habits were what type of food he consumes, with only a single note being taken by the veterinarian during the visit which lasted hardly 5 minutes. I communicated this experience to Chester Veterinary Clinic owners in a letter, never even receiving a phone call or written reply concerning this visit which demonstrates their disregard concerning any customer dissatisfaction or feedback. Chester Veterinary Clinic was once a premiere place with fantastic veterinarians that provided a caring and competent environment, but sadly has digressed into a sub-standard level of care place to take your pet. There are plenty of other vets in the area that will provide competent care.

Unfortunately, my visit on February 19, 2026, was completely different. I would give this place a zero star. I brought my healthy dog in for a routine checkup, fecal exam, and vaccines required for boarding. What should have been a straightforward preventive appointment quickly became uncomfortable and confrontational. During the visit, Technician Laura Kelly repeatedly spoke over me, raised her voice, and addressed me in a way that felt accusatory rather than informative. Each time I attempted to respond or ask a question, I was interrupted and not allowed to finish a sentence. The tone was not educational or collaborative. It felt adversarial. When she stepped out of the room, I could hear her speaking about me behind the door. Shortly after, Dr. Ashley Jackson, whom I had never met before, entered the room. Rather than asking about my dog's routine, training, or overall health, the conversation immediately turned critical. The entire interaction also felt rushed. Dr. Jackson repeatedly mentioned that she had a lot to say but might be pulled out of the room soon. She spoke at length, delivering a stream of general advice without first taking the time to understand my dog or my experience as an owner. I have had German Shepherds for six years, yet I was spoken to as if I had just adopted my first dog, receiving very basic instructions such as not exercising a dog immediately before or after eating. There was no attempt to ask what I already knew or what I was already doing. Most concerning, while we were still in the room and without discussing it with me first, Dr. Jackson instructed the technician to administer an anti-parasitic medication before any fecal test results were available and without asking for my consent. Decisions were being made between the two of them as though I were not present. In the moment I was shocked and frozen. Looking back, I wish I had stopped the situation and left. This was a routine visit involving a healthy dog. The escalation into a hostile exchange, combined with medical decisions made without discussion or approval, was deeply concerning. No client should feel spoken over, dismissed, or excluded from medical decisions during a preventive appointment. The experience left me deeply upset, and it took nearly a month to recover emotionally from what should have been a simple routine visit. I hope the practice reflects on what occurred so that no other client has a similar experience.

First visit I was charged $360 for blood work; which came back fine. Second visit I was charged $457. Second visit was a week ago and haven't heard anything back. The receptionist did call me after the visit to tell me they overcharged me $70, but that they can't refund me the money. I can only use it as a credit. I will say, the staff is nice and cares about animals. UPDATE: After my post, I was contacted by Laura, the manager. and I was refunded the overcharge. There was also miscommunication about the wait time for test results. I was just told the results could take 7-14 days and that was why I hadn't heard from anyone.

I have sat in the waiting room for an hour or more on several occasions, but I never complained because I understand Vets and techs are busy, and our dogs have always received stellar care here. This evening I called because my dog threw up all over me and the car on our way to his appt. I had to pull over to clean everything and called as soon as I was clean enough to let them know I was late. The receptionist asked how far away I was and I said I'd be there in 10 minutes. She said "oh that's fine, come on down!". I arrived and Dr. Vitelli refused to see us. Suddenly I'm not feeling so understanding about all the times I've waited 30-60 minutes past my scheduled appt time. They could have rescheduled when I called, instead they let me sit in the waiting room for 15 minutes while Dr. Vitelli couldn't decide whether he'd do us the honor of seeing us.
