The secretary found a tech who saw us at 2:25. We continued to wait with our cat, listening to other cats protest thier treatment, until the vet came into the room, at 1:55. She hardly acknowledged how long she made us wait. We paid the bill, at the end of the appointment, we did not make them wait to get paid. This is not the best choice of care. I can see 20 minutes late, not 55. Find a better veterinary option, one that cares for you and your animal.

Best thing that has ever happended. I have had a great experience with all the Vets, assistants and techs and mostly I have developed a relationship with Dr Janicki (the mrs). She is wonderful. They have introduced me to herbal supplements and topicals that have helped a lot with my 2 dogs. I highly recommend them. Everyone there is so friendly and our pup genuinely loves going to the vet! I feel safe knowing they are working with her and they never make us feel stupid for asking a bunch of questions. As new pup owners, we call quite a bit and we are never made to feel like we're wasting our time. I've been to lots of bigger vet practices in my life, and I love that Pet's Friends has a small, homey vibe. I have sat in the waiting room for an hour or more on several occasions, but I never complained because I understand Vets and techs are busy, and our dogs have always received stellar care here. This evening I called because my dog threw up all over me and the car on our way to his appt. I had to pull over to clean everything and called as soon as I was clean enough to let them know I was late. The receptionist asked how far away I was and I said I'd be there in 10 minutes. She said "oh that's fine, come on down!". I arrived and Dr. Vitelli refused to see us. Suddenly I'm not feeling so understanding about all the times I've waited 30-60 minutes past my scheduled appt time. They could have rescheduled when I called, instead they let me sit in the waiting room for 15 minutes while Dr. Vitelli couldn't decide whether he'd do us the honor of seeing us.

They are a tad more expensive than others, but it is worth it. I found them to be honest and forthcoming with services and cost. Dr. Pixton and Dr. Dale are both wonderful. (dr. DellaMonica who retired recently) I feel seen and they gently guided us through our losses and made themselves available to address concerns and what to expect. They have made changes in the front desk/admin staff to accommodate the sheer volume of patients which at first I felt was too businesslike, and a little wonky. Now, I see totally make visits seamless. We have rarely had to wait more than a few minutes. To be fair, it is cheaper to use Chewy for some OTC's/food and prescriptions (heart worm) etc, which I do. They have a portal where they can connect with Chewy to send prescriptions through. At this point, I would not trust any other vet with our pets.

I felt as though I was treated rudely and I left my appointment feeling like I had just paid a small fortune for poor service. When I inquired about anti-anxiety medication (which multiple people, including her groomer, have told me I should look into) for my nine-year old Chihuahua mix who was wracked with so much anxiety she repeatedly tried to jump off of the exam table, subsequently urinated on the table, and was shaking nonstop, I felt judged and dismissed. The vet informed me that there are supplements to try, and when I said I have tried several over the years (hemp and CBD) to little effect and my dog also generally refuses to eat them, the vet abruptly closed the subject and left the room. When the shocking amount I was due to pay at the end of the visit was read to me at the reception desk and I reacted with surprise, the receptionist immediately acted frosty and rude, as well. I will not be returning.

Then called another hospital and they were full as well. Finally got him in to be seen at Central in Guilford. Yes, there was a long wait. And they do triage the pets.. as our dog just wasn't acting right, other pets were seen first, naturally. We were asked to leave our dog there and we'd get a phone call and naturally, were scared leaving him behind. Finally, we got a call 7 hours later that our guy was doing better. Stressful, but much a relief. The doctor was amazing. He explained what had happened, given us what he recommended. He took the time to answer the questions we had and explained how different more expensive treatments would yield the same results as they are treated the same way. How cool (and honest!) is that? Granted, I hope no one needs to go to the vet ER, but they did right by us when we needed them. And, our 12 year old lab rescue we got 2 years ago is doing fine now.
