He was diagnosed with stomach cancer a month or so before and was given some medications to help him digest his food. We were warned that when he stopped eating, it was time. It was a Saturday and the Vet Office he always went to was closed with only a recorded message. My wife tried other offices with no luck until one office recommended Piper. I cannot say enough good things about the entire staff. They scheduled an appointment within an hour. The young lady at the front desk was compassionate and caring. And that compassion and concern was displayed by the assistant and doctor through the procedure. As difficult as saying goodbye to a great little family member was, the wonderful staff at Piper Veterinary made it bearable.

I've been to lots of bigger vet practices in my life, and I love that Pet's Friends has a small, homey vibe. I have been coming to KAH for my pets Vet care for years. I have never been late for an appointment…read moreand have never waited LESS than 30 minutes past my appointment time for any appointment. I have sat in the waiting room for an hour or more on several occasions, but I never complained because I understand Vets and techs are busy, and our dogs have always received stellar care here. This evening I called because my dog threw up all over me and the car on our way to his appt. I had to pull over to clean everything and called as soon as I was clean enough to let them know I was late. The receptionist asked how far away I was and I said I'd be there in 10 minutes. She said "oh that's fine, come on down!". I arrived and Dr. Vitelli refused to see us. Suddenly I'm not feeling so understanding about all the times I've waited 30-60 minutes past my scheduled appt time. They could have rescheduled when I called, instead they let me sit in the waiting room for 15 minutes while Dr. Vitelli couldn't decide whether he'd do us the honor of seeing us.

They are a tad more expensive than others, but it is worth it. I found them to be honest and forthcoming with services and cost. Dr. Pixton and Dr. Dale are both wonderful. (dr. DellaMonica who retired recently) I feel seen and they gently guided us through our losses and made themselves available to address concerns and what to expect. They have made changes in the front desk/admin staff to accommodate the sheer volume of patients which at first I felt was too businesslike, and a little wonky. Now, I see totally make visits seamless. We have rarely had to wait more than a few minutes. To be fair, it is cheaper to use Chewy for some OTC's/food and prescriptions (heart worm) etc, which I do. They have a portal where they can connect with Chewy to send prescriptions through. At this point, I would not trust any other vet with our pets.

Our vet had missed signs that our dog had an aggressive cancer. When we called her to say our dog…read morehad a bloated stomach and sent photos, she gave us an appointment two days later. The vet then did an ultrasound and saw that our dog's abdomen was filled with blood. She said that her tests meant a 50/50 chance of cancer. We took our dog to Central and everyone was so kind and thorough from the people at the desk to all the people who ran the tests. They worked her in that day and their tests showed that our dog had cancer, had had cancer for a long time, was in pain and her liver was nearly gone. There was no cancerous mass to remove. The cancer was everywhere. We saw two doctors and the consensus was that our dog was dying, and euthanasia would be the kindest thing. The doctor who put her down gave us time with her and was so gentle and sensitive and the shots worked very quickly and she was finally out of pain. It was one of the worst days in our lives and everyone at the hospital treated us with such care. So what we want to know is what were all those "wellness" checks for at our vet's?
