I am a frequent customer at this location and today was by far the first disappointing experience. The woman masseuse had no idea what she was doing. I walked out feeling like a needed a massage after the massage. She did the same thing for almost the full hour and was very harsh with every movement. She aggressively grabbed my neck when trying to massage it and really hurt me. She left oil on my neck after rubbing it all over my hair and face... she spent more time on my left side and didn't do much for the right. She kept moving from the left to right side but the movements were the same- there was no switch up. I've come enough times to have memorized the masseuse's work here at the spa but this was not it. I asked for a little harder pressure than she was doing but I received full pressure that was continued throughout the session. In addition, she kept burping loudly throughout the session. It was really unpleasant. When asked at the reception how it was, I said "ok". I have her a $10.00 tip for her time but did not feel that I should give more. The masseuse then pointed at the tip sign and then asked me for 5 more dollars to which I told her I was disappointed in the service and I would not be giving her any more $. read more

Yesterday was my 3rd trip to Garden Spa, My first 2 visits were phenomenal with Lady masseuse's I couldn't feel anything and that's the point to receive relief. However Yesterday I had a male masseuse, I've had male masseuse's before no biggie, training and education should be similar right? So pretty much he massageed my spine and neck veterbra which is a no no. He dry massaged my arm, I had to ask him to use oil, he did not touch my feet, mine you this was a full body, 90-minute massage. He coughed a few times without covering his mouth (both hands were on me), he wore no mask, the front of my body was never massaged, he was rough, placed hot towels on my back without waving them some to cool, left the session frequently. I asked for more time to be allocated to my arms, now he went hard on my back but light as a feather on my arms, I asked for more pressure he did the left side but not the right. He sought clarification from I assumed the manager on providing time to my arm. At the end he wanted a $15 tip, and I was like you really didn't deserve what you received on top of the price for a 90-minute massage going up to$70, $10 increase from about a month ago. Now seriously it's not about the money for me, I've given the other 2 masseuse's $20 tips, because they were phenomenal. I walked out of that establishment free of pain, and tightness. Yesterday I could not sit up because my hip had a strain, had to do a hip flexor stretch to get up off the massage table LOL. But seriously Yesterday was a bad massage, there was no rthymn, strokes were very choppy, grabbing more than massaging, he took many breaks to get supplies or whatever he was doing. I called later that night to speak to the Manager at first I was told and I think it was him that they don't have a Manager, then he said it's Lily but she's not here. So i called again this morning and the manager supposedly was not there, I left my name and number. We'll see if I get a call back. Lastly, my 1st 2 massages were on the left side of the building, they have individual rooms with makeshift doors, nice bathroom. Yesterday I got the other side which is more communal, and a curtain is your door, bathroom was not as nice as the other side, no paper towels no seat covers, the soap odor was strong and dried out my hands out. I don't live next door to Gardena, had to travel a bit to get there and to receive the service I received from yesterday, I need a refund and another massage from somewhere else. This is right by Azuma (Japanese restaurant) and I don't think this foot spa has a name listed above the door. I needed to kill an hour and walked in here as Hide's Shiatsu didn't have any appts. It was unfortunate on so many levels. The lady who did my massage did some weird things: 1. In the first 5 mins, she burped pretty much in my face and I smelled it. HOW GROSS, RIGHT!? I almost walked out, but I was tired and there already. 2. When she lay my head the the side to stretch my neck she folded my head on my own earlobe. Uncomfortable! 3. When she did that leg pretzel thing she folded my leg down on my own hand. It wasn't a good massage. It wasn't a bad one. It was just uncomfortable and clearly she wasn't aware of little things that other spas take notice of. Also, the lotion was not very hydrating. Sometimes during the massage, my skin would be dry and she'd add more lotion which did NOT help. The water for foot massage was barely hot... At the end I was gonna tip her $3. She said it was $5. I looked around and didn't see it listed anywhere. I was looking for a receptionist/manager and didn't see anyone? I was like, Is she tricking me????? I had a good massage but they stressed me tf out with the way they demanded a $20 tip. For a $45 massage, I gave her $8 which was what I had in change and I thought would be fair since 15% of $45 is under $7. I ended up asking for my change back and telling her to change a $100 for change and tipped her $10 because of her attitude. They have a sign at the counter saying $10 tip for good massage $20 tip for great massage. I feel like they should advice the customers before the massage of that sign so we can be aware. Not everyone looks around. And no one should get demanded and rise the stress level after getting a massage. You go there to be relaxed. You can keep calm and explain the sign not demand. read more

Visited on 3/1/2020 Still in the parking lot just reflecting on what just happened... so I have my massage by Lulu which was nice as it always is... however COMMA at the end when it's time to pay I see a sign on the counter --- I've never really payed too much attention to it before but it tells the customer how to tip the person who gives you a massage. (Not cool) Sign says: $10 - good, $20 - excellent and so on... I pay debit for my service but have $5 in my wallet so I give that as a tip... not sure the language but Lulu (the lady who gave me the massage) says something to the lady whose taking my payment and the only thing I can make out is $5 and she walks off. So, I address the situation... I let the lady know who is charging my debit card that the sign is not right. Just because someone isn't tipped $10 or more doesn't mean that the massage wasn't good. Maybe that's what they had in their wallet... I mean people are already paying for the service. The lady who I'm making the payment to just looks at me and says "okay". Then here comes Lulu w/ 2 other ladies that work there and they just stand there. One looked like she had just got done eating a lemon because the way her face was all twisted up was a sight to see! I then repeat myself and address Lulu directly and tell her... the sign is not right. I let Lulu know that just because she doesn't get $10 or more from a person doesn't mean the service was not good. Lulu nods her head and smiles but I can tell she felt a way about her tip. Her (2) coworkers continued to stand by as the one with the sour face continued looking on with her face looking even more sour... I thanked Lulu again for her service, say good night and leave. OVERALL: It's a shame about the sign they have on their counter and it's not cool to imply that a customer should tip certain amounts otherwise the service wasn't good... that's like putting words in people's mouths. "Oh... they tipped under $10 the massage must've been horrible." I was recommended this place by my friend and decided to take my boyfriend here for his birthday. I called to make an appointment and check availability, they were able to get us in right away. Our massages were together in the same room which made it extra special. We both got the combo A 60 minute massage which also includes a 10 minute foot massage. The ladies we had were very nice and had strong hands (good thing) because we both needed it. I paid card but I'm not sure if they had an atm on site. (a matter of fact, I had to remind him that he missed my left hand and it may have been intentionally... I've never had a massage before but my aunts and mom were going to Garden Spa and I decided to tag along. I was actually just going to go and check the spa out but had no intention of getting a massage myself. I was curious about this place and checked out Yelp to see what it was all about but there weren't any reviews yet. It looked like I would have to find out myself to see how this place was. Parking is in the back and when you walk in from the back you enter a fairly small, dim lit place with several massage chairs and a small area for manicures. In the front of the place, is a small waiting area and the reception table. In the back of the reception area are more separate rooms with more massage, facial and waxing areas. My aunts and mom ended up convincing me to give getting a massage a try and I soon found myself in one of the massaging chairs. First off they dip your feet in warm water. The massage starts with a head massage, followed by the hands, feet and legs. They do your shoulders and back last. Since it was my first time, getting a massage, I wasn't sure what to expect. It's actually quite relaxing. They have soft music playing in the background and one time the music stopped and I could hear water and crickets (hehe, I think it was part of the soundtrack). At the end of the massage, I felt pretty relaxed. It was a good first time experience for a spa massage for me. The price here for a massage is pretty good. It is $20 for 1 hour. This is a great deal. They do facials for $45. One of the workers also said that there are sometime coupons in the local magazines that come in the mail. You don't need reservations to go here but it is not a bad idea especially since I heard at times it can get pretty crowded. read more

I came here on a Saturday night after my 14 mile hike. I didn't have an appointment but only waited about 10 minutes. I forgot the name of the masseuse I had but she had really short hair. She was a little gentle at first but knew when to put the pressure on my back. I liked that she "shushed" people if they were talking or walking too loud. The place itself is pretty roomy I've been to a couple foot massage places in the SGV where they cramp a bunch of people in a small room. The owners were nice too but I think the gentleman needs to air himself a little outside after having a smoke because it lingers. I felt better than I did after going to the massage spot I frequent and that's at a much higher rate for 60 minutes! $35 for 60 minutes AND hot stone -- amazing. That's an add on at most places. It's not a typical bougie spa, but when it comes to the massage and the stellar aesthetic, Ill take a great massage. I took away one star due to the construction going on during business hours. Been here at least two dozen times because i live close by. THE BEST DEAL IS THE $20 FOOT MASSAGE. its 1 HOUR and i personally think anything else would not be worth it money-wise. APPOINTMENTS- I will suggest to make an appointment before you go to ensure you have someone there to do your massage. I've gone and seen other people have theirs cut short because they showed up without making an appointment and they got a 30 minute make instead of the 1 hour massage because they are busy. CLOTHING- i suggest wearing comfortable, loose clothes (aka SHORTS and a TANK) as you do not remove them when you get a massage (unless you book the private room.) i always wear sandals as putting socks on feet after a foot massage doesn't appeal to me. although they don't always all you to, i also try to remove any jewelry like earrings, necklaces, or rings as they do sometimes get in the way. i also tie up my long hair in a loose bun so they can still massage my scalp. STAFF- they are mostly nice. i try to get the same person everytime but that's not always a guarantee. some of them leave to work elsewhere or they aren't working that particular day. I've called in a couple times to request a specific person and I've been told that they weren't working that day but when i go, they were there. i always try to remember their names so that i can request them again. i always request a girl because the guys hands mostly smell of cigarettes and it makes me gag. CHAIRS- i will admit the chairs are comfortable. I've fallen asleep more than I'd like to admit just being that relaxed. that place towels over the chairs and the towels are changed between people. there are 4-5 rows of 3 chairs across on their big room. PRIVATE ROOMS- i have yet to book a private room here but the atmosphere is like I've seen at other places like this. that have two beds in a room (couples massages) and a cd player to play soft music. read more

The body scrub sucked. I decided to try a body scub here instead of going to Garden Groove . I was sort of puzzled on how they were going to do the scrub because i didn't see any showers. But I was like what the heck! I had a foot massage here 2 weeks ago and I enjoyed and it was only $20 and the scrub is $25. So it must be a method to this madness. My daughter and I went into this room which looked like a massage room. We undress, covered up and laid face down. Two technicians came into room and also the receptionist (lady) thet seem to have been arguing. (it seemed like on how to do the body scrub.) ( received my body scrub previously from a Japanese spa which was equipped with showers) This talking stuff was going on wbout 5 minutes I was like OMG.. The scrub finally begin. The workers aren't talking loudly and having picking up phone calls during the massage like many other Chinese foot massage places. $20 for 25 minute body and 35 minute foot massage. I always try to make an appointment over the phone to ensure there's no wait time when I arrive. Parking is free. Stages of massage in order, face/head/neck, arms, feet, then lastly back. Don't forget to tip. Obviously it's up to you how much tip. But generally $5 if it sucked.. $8 if it was decent. $10 if it was good and more if it was the best experience ever (which is highly unlikely for a cheap Chinese foot massage place). OUCH!!! I can only describe this experience as extremely painful.. I was curious about this place so I decided to set an appt at 10am on my day off hoping to be relaxed when I go to work the following day. First impression wasn't good. They let me in at 10 which is when they open but I was standing around watching them put sheets on the recliner/massage chairs. Finally someone called to my attention to have a seat.. From then a man approached me with a bucket of warm soapy water(?) and tells me to put my feet in it. That actually felt pretty good. Long story short, this guy silent burped twice.. Not in my face thank God.. and EVERYWHERE he massaged me hurt.. I commented to him to be gentle.. Anyway the whole time I was praying for the hour to be over so I can go home and cry.. I may give them one more chance and just ask if I can get a woman masseuse that has gentle hands.. I have been coming here for a little over 2 years and try and come at least once a month. Like any place, some of the workers are better than others, but 90 % of the time I leave satisfied!
