Bringing my child to this daycare was by far one of the greatest decisions i have made for my…read morechild. The teachers are amazing so loving and caring towards all children. They continue to help my child grow and learn on a daily basis and the children have so much fun. There are so many activities they do and also some surprises such as a petting zoo that my son loves. He is 3 years old and theres timea he does not want to leave and is excited to wake up knowing hes going to school. They assisted him with his speech he did not speak much however everyday the teachers are spending time and showing him how to pronounce specific letters and in a few months he was saying words and expressing feelings he had never done before. My child has grown so much and it's all due to the Abby and her staff that spend so much time to build our little ones to be where they need to in there next phases of life. I am extremely greateful for finding this daycare and i recommend them to anyone. As a mother seeing how far my child has come in such a short time and how happy being there makes him 5 stars is not enough for this rating. I thank you all at the children's workshop for your hard work and dedication to all these children and im positive im not the only parent who feels this way. Thank you Debra Almeida

I have been a member of several YMCA's in my life and this one is pretty familiar. First they have…read moreexcellent indoor/outdoor pool facilities, and lots of kids programming. Their family membership is an excellent value when you take into consideration the complementary child care. Their pool and locker facilities were recently renovated and are very nice. The YMCA offers a wide variety of classes, and although the selection might not be as robust as other facilities, I have enjoyed them. The cardio/weights room, where I spend a lot of time has been updated with brand new equipment and is well managed - there are typically available cardio machines in the busy morning hours. This Y is also located next to the East Bay Bike Path - so one can easily bike here, and go out running during or after a visit. Bottom line a good value, a good facility for the area.

The indoor pool is beautiful. However, the staff do not live in example of the values they…read moreemphasize in their members at the YMCA. One of the lifeguards constantly crossed personal boundaries and eventually called me an alcoholic because I did not accept his unsolicited medical advice. The aquatics director and CEO made me stand in his office despite me telling the CEO that I cannot stand or sit for an extended period due to chronic pain and my disability, and while making me stand and listen to him repeat everything he said over email, they both basically took the side of the lifeguard, suggesting without asking the offensive party that the lifeguard was "joking" and I was more or less holding a grudge. They even suggested that the Bayside pool wasn't the right pool for me because I was offended by being called an alcoholic by this lifeguard. They never asked the lifeguard to apologize to me after I requested an apology. I do not feel respected at this YMCA branch. Another issue is the staff don't tell you that there's an additional annual fee on top of the regular monthly fee and joiner's fee until after you've joined. I reached out to the same CEO and membership director about this issue, and have been met with silence for over a month. But when they didn't like that I complained about a lifeguard slandering me and his continued foul mannerisms towards me, the CEO wouldn't leave me alone constantly emailing me and demanding I go into his office when I asked for a phone call to accommodate my disability to address the issue.

I am extremely disappointed with our experience at this daycare and would not recommend it to other…read morefamilies. My three-year-old son experienced repeated hurtful comments from another child, including being called "dirty," being told he was not liked, and even being told to "die in the water." As the only Black child in his classroom, these comments were especially concerning to us. What is heartbreaking is the lasting emotional impact this has had on him. Even now, during bath time, he feels the need to tell us that he is clean and not dirty. No three-year-old should be carrying that kind of emotional distress. Despite bringing these serious concerns to the director's attention, there was no meaningful follow-up, no response to my emails, and no communication about what was being done to address the situation. I ultimately had to approach the other child's parents myself. The lack of accountability, urgency, and concern from the administration was incredibly disappointing. Unfortunately, my concerns go beyond this incident. On several occasions during pickup, I have witnessed teachers raising their voices and speaking harshly to young children. Most recently, I arrived to find my son crying and visibly upset while a teacher stood in front of him. Rather than showing compassion or explaining how she had tried to help him, the teacher proceeded to complain about him in an unnecessarily confrontational manner, describing how she had gone back and forth arguing with a three-year-old over playing with wood chips. I understand that toddlers can be challenging and need boundaries, but early childhood educators should know how to redirect behavior with patience, kindness, and age-appropriate guidance. Raising your voice and engaging in power struggles with toddlers is not the approach I expect from professionals entrusted with caring for young children. What disappoints me most is the overall lack of leadership, communication, and accountability. As parents, we trust these individuals with our most precious responsibility: our children. We should never have to wonder whether our children are being treated with kindness or whether serious concerns will simply be brushed aside. We have made the decision to withdraw our son immediately because we no longer feel confident that this is a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for him. I sincerely hope the director and ownership take these concerns seriously and make meaningful changes. No child deserves to feel unwanted, humiliated, or afraid at daycare, and no parent should have to fight this hard just to have their concerns acknowledged.

We loved it and would recommend it highly! Mr. Carl, the owner, Ms. Tracey, the director, and Miss Hilary and Miss Kelly, the teachers for the Sprouts class were all FABULOUS. They were kind, accommodating, welcoming and patient. We felt so lucky to have found this warm and stable environment in which our daughter could play and learn as we navigated a strange, interim period. In addition to the incredible staff, here are a few more things we really appreciated: - Waldorf education philosophy - no technology - lots of outdoor time, regardless of the weather (kids would wear Muddy Buddies) - wooden toys only - baking bread on Thursdays! - healthy breakfast and lunch served every day - COVID-19 protocols were impeccable - teachers would email daily summaries with photos - super speedy response time to phone calls and emails - option to send your kids 2, 3, or 5 days a week - classrooms for kids of different ages. We weren't able to take advantage of this, because our son's immunizations were out of date (oops) but a great option for families with multiple kids I wish we could transport Apple Blossom back to California with us!

In the meantime, she was accepted into another school. Despite not finalizing enrollment or giving consent, we were still charged. The owner had assured us that no charges would be made without our approval, yet he went ahead anyway. He later emailed claiming he would issue a refund by check, but that never happened. He continues to claim we gave consent and that the refund was processed--neither of which is true. We never agreed to anything, never signed paperwork, and never received our money back. This place is only interested in taking your money and will say anything to justify it. Avoid at all costs!
