There were so many people inside we asked to see if we can sit outside in the patio with really cute fire pit area. We tried oysters, baguette, salad, cocktails everything was delicious! Incredibly friendly staff from busser and our server Joe was Amazing! Definitely will return and ask for him! Definitely will recommend and return soon!

I've been here a few times before, and that day I was particularly craving their foie gras spread. It was nice to see that they had a happy hour menu now, but unfortunately the foie gras spread was sold out. I decided to try the three-course chef's menu instead. I don't remember seeing this during my previous visits, although I might have just come on different days or at different times. I did notice that the menu said the courses were smaller portions, but I honestly didn't expect them to be THAT small. I'm a young woman and pretty lean, and I still wasn't full after finishing all three courses. The main course portion almost felt like something from a kids' menu. For the starter, I got the asparagus tempura. The texture was very nice, crispy on the outside and juicy inside, and the cheese shavings on top were a nice touch. But honestly, I thought the sauce tasted a little strange and didn't blend well with the rest of the dish. The salmon was really nicely done. It was very well cooked, flavorful, and had a perfectly soft texture. The presentation was beautiful too. The creamy sauce worked really well with the salmon and added to its texture. I just wish there had been more of it! For dessert, the chef's menu only offered ice cream or gelato. I chose the Mexican chocolate flavor and wasn't impressed. It tasted pretty similar to something I could get from the supermarket freezer. Service was attentive though, and the outdoor patio was really pleasant for this time of year. I've dined inside on my previous visits and actually first came here during their opening week a few years ago. For a while I visited fairly often, but since the menu didn't change much, I eventually stopped coming as frequently. I might still be back for the full-size salmon and to try a few other dishes. Maybe another visit will change my rating.

Our server was extremely friendly! But the service was lacking. Our meal came out. We had to ask for napkins. Then we had to ask for the side of chipotle mayo that was supposed to be served with it . Then I realized we didn't have any forks or knives, but by this time I didn't want to ask anymore. So I just used the toothpick to spread the chipotle mayo. The cheesesteak sliders sounded so delicious. But there was barely any meat on them. We took off the top bun, but even then not enough meat. Listen, I am a true Evanstion and I really want them to succeed! But they're definitely going to need to up their game. On the positive side. There were many large green TVs with lots of football! It'd be a super great place to go watch some football. Definitely give it a try for Monday night Bears game.

We checked out this place with a few people on the Saturday evening after Christmas and were still…read moreamazed how empty the place was. Did everyone truly leave town? It's located right down the street from Northwestern University's football stadium (whatever the heck they're naming it). This is a nice hidden gem in Evanston. Not located downtown, it may have a chance to stick around a while. As Jane V. noted in her review, you are greeted by a delicious smoky smell when you enter the restaurant. It was an inviting smell (at least for me), others in our group thought we were walking into a barbecue joint and were less than thrilled, but the menu put them at ease as it has a lot of options. There were five of us and one couple decided to share a couple appetizers as their entrees. They ordered the Cauliflower Buffalo Bites, and the Macho Nacho. They were huge portions easily enough for us all to share. However, my wife and I don't see eye-to-eye with our eating habits (she is mostly vegetarian and I'm a card-carrying carnivore), so she was not about to share the smoky wings and cheesy tots with me. I opted for the Chicken Vesuvio entree, and she and our other friend both ordered the Inside-Out Grilled Cheese. I would say most the sandwiches looked good (no portobello for me, thanks). I would say though, the desserts are pretty generic, so we opted out, but their is a door inside the restaurant to the donut shop next door (which was closed), but I wanted to try that place, so I'll have to make another trek out there for them and review them later. I'm amazed that the donut shop, DB3 Donuts, does not appear on their menu at all, despite having a connecting door from one establishment to the other, but alas, I've heard their apple crisp and brownie are good, but neither were too appealing that night. All meals were delicious and I definitely need to go back and try other dishes. And may DB3, if they are open. Give this place some love as it is a nice gem in Evanston.

Holy Moley, did we find great food in Evanston!…read more We celebrated Saint Patrick's Day at Ten Mile House restaurant in Evanston @tenmilehouse When we walked in the door, they had a delicious smoky smell that was driving me crazy. So much so that I ordered the smoked Sampler plate, and was I glad I did. I started off with their Top O' The Morning special Saint Patrick's cocktail (Titos, Curacao, and orange juice shaken and poured over ice). I really loved this drink. My hubby had a Margarita that was just delightful. Our appetizers were: Angry Shrimp (really delicious) shrimp with a spicy tomato garlic sauce. Served over polenta cake. Ahi Tuna Wanton (mango jicama salsa, avocado, and teriyaki sauce) This should be their signature appetizer). The presentation is impeccable. It appealed to our eyes before the 1st bite. And,the first bite, as well as the rest, was wonderful. We would gladly return here just for this. Our entrees were: Grilled Salmon with corn risotto, grilled asparagus, smoked tomato aioli. The salmon was well cooked to medium, not too dry, and not too rare. The plate was well balanced and everything was very tasty. Smoked Sampler My favorite! Rib tips, brisket, pulled pork, Texas toast, cole slaw. For dessert: Chocolate Brownie Apple Crisp Both were so good that we did not want to share! The next time you are in the Evanston area, you really must stop in for their delicious food!

Welp, Yelp, I like a new local place. I hope it sticks around for a while because the yummies I had…read morewere really yummy. Here's what when down. I walked past Evanston Corner Bistro on a September Tuesday at that awkward not lunch anymore, but also not dinner time. Relieved to find it open I did a 180 turn and headed to the charming manager, Melissa, who was attentive, funny and seated me immediately. This building has been at least five establishments on my watch, most of them not too memorable, and a few dreadful. However, I am very happy to say this iteration and restaurant impressed me, especially their endearing staff. I am now currently obsessed with their take on a turkey club that the knowledgable, elegant, and attentive waiter, Ben, highly recommended. Caramelized onions, arugula, gruyere, garlic aioli, yes gawd, please. This thing was huge. Dagwood sized, jaws unhinged to consume. I had to take half home with me, which was devoured by a grateful husband a few hours later. People, I don't think I have ever thought about a turkey sandwich beyond consumption, but damn it if I don't want another one today. I now lament allowing the hubby access to this revelation on bread. I also had a cucumber gazpacho that truly freaked me out in an "I'll try anything once, holy crap this is really delicious!" way. I think Ben mentioned there was an apple gastric drizzled in there, which is probably the secret sauce. So yeah, now I need more of that, too. Socially speaking, I must mention that these kids are so lovely. I hate to bother staff during that unpopular time, but I was feeling rather low, and needed some company. I was delighted to be treated very well. I even got a few snatches of very interesting conversation, which gave me a chance to practice not being a feral curmudgeon in public. Ben is a very well traveled fellow and he knows his food. So does Melissa, but watch out for her, though. She looks the very picture of innocence, but she can whip out a joke with such stealth and precision that you will think you're merely discussing a current event, then BAMMO, you might find yourself doing a spit-take or guffaw and a groan. Soon, I'll head back for steak frites and a martini, most likely an early bird Golden Girl's special, so I can get some special attention, and, perhaps, a joke. Thanks, corner kids. See you again, soon!
