Went for the first time with my brother in law when we needed suits for a wedding that was in 3 days. We both found suits we liked in 1 hour - which is crazy because I can't even decide what to eat for lunch in an hour. The sales people know their stuff and helped us find good suits in our sizes quickly. For me, the fact that they helped us both find nice suits so quickly was really really impressive. I'll note that some of the sales people do have personalities, so be advised that you may find yourself talking to people with their own points of view while you are shopping. I think that this is a minor point compared to the selection and value of their offerings. Well worth the trip. I'll be back. read more

I visited the store with my son who has some size issues plus sensory and patience problems and I'm very happy to report that they made what could've been an awful situation as simple as possible. Tom in suits was able to quickly ascertain his size just by looking at him And offered a couple of options at a very inexpensive price point. We moved onto shoes and that was quick and easy as well as a shirt. I'm really glad we went to the store and know where we will go back should the need arise again. I came here a few weeks ago with my eleven year-old brother-in-law. We were looking to exchange a suit that didn't fit him. Although the lady at the counter was very accomodating, two salesman (one who was tall) were extremely rude and insensitive to my b.i.l.'s weight. They made jokes about him being husky to one another. They also loudly told me that he had a belly. Now don't tell me that their comments were necessary in order to find him the right size or explain why a certain size didn't fit. My 20/20 vision allows me to see that it doesn't fit and why. I didn't need their big mouth. I should've walked out, right then and there. But we withstood the verbal sewage in hopes of finding him a new suit. They are wrong in their physical assessment of him. He is healthy and growing. Husky? Yes. But keep your opinions to yourself. You're not Kelly Michaels. You're a suit salesman and a mouthpeice, and a bad one at best. Why shop at a place that berates customers, let alone an eleven year old boy!? If I ever hear someone talking about this lousy establishment, I'm going to tell them that two of their salesman berated a child. I bet they won't want to shop here after that. read more

THE place for suits and accessories. There are two floors at this store. The top (street) level has good suits, lower priced and not custom fit; mainly solids. You WILL find something suitable (pun intended) here, after looking for a bit. The guys who work there will know by sight your size and fit, then direct you to the right section, and even make recommendations based on what looks good, not just making a sale, or pushing you to go downstairs and spend more. You won't have to try on 20 jackets looking for something that will look good on you. Downstairs are higher end suits, custom fit and with more colors, subtle pinstripes, etc. I needed a suit for 2 weddings, a christening and anniversary dinner, and I wanted to splurge, so I went right down, and found what I wanted in the second suit I tried on. A perfect fit, with a classic feel, but updated look that will not be out of style in 6 months. Like I said I was keeping an open mind on price, but spent much LESS than I expected, even in that area. The differences are subtle, but it's all about what you want and need and can spend. Whether you stay upstairs or down, the suit you get here will not look cheap. A great personal service touch; go there with the "I am buying a suit" mindset and you'll be treated like a gentleman. read more

Greatest place to get a suit or dressy clothing for cheap, Don't get this confused with a knock-off store, they sell the real stuff here. I bought a DKNY suit on sale for $199, they usually sell here for $249 which is still an amazing price. The workers make sure you leave with everything you need and make sure it fits perfectly. You can get shoes here too for cheap, i would highly suggest you check this place out before going to the brand name store and paying triple the amount. I'm built like a fire hydrant so it's always a challenge to find decent suits in my size. I'm also not one who likes to spend a small fortune on suits, only having to wear them from time to time. That said, I don't want crap either. The first time @ Garage, I didn't like it. Maybe it was the sidewalk sale of guido-club shirts and some other cheesy ware in the main store. And it often seems filled with "no manners" customers. But I found myself nearby and wanting a light, summer blazer. It got a second shot. The suits on the main floor are decent, but as mentioned they have some gems in the basement. While they only had 10 or so in my unique size, I found 2 that were of nice quality, Italian styling, and fit like a glove. That said, I still walked. My intention was to buy a blazer and I didn't quite find a match. So I went down the street and had some lunch. Walking towards the train home, I realized: "How often do you find one, let alone 2 suits you like in the same store?" Not saying you'll be so lucky, but they do have a decent selection of suits, so it's worth a visit. read more

The experience at the Garage was great only when Alfredo offered to help us. We started upstairs at the "cheaper" suits. The sales guy was on his cell phone and refused to get off to help. He insisted that the size of the suit was right when you could have put 2 other people inside the jacket. We made our way downstairs to the "expensive" suits where with just one look Alfredo knew the correct size and fit. The suit was absolutely fabulous and you could not beat the price. I love this local neighborhood spot. Not sure where or how they keep their prices so low. But this Bensonhurst you don't ask questions you just put the suit on and keep it moving. I visited the store with my father on Wednesday and we bought 2 shirts. The Dutch saleslady (I never got her name) who helped us was extraordinary in her customer service skills. Not only was she pleasant and helpful, she seemed genuinely happy to be serving my Dad and finding the shirt that fit him. We found a new (to us) shopping experience treasure in Brooklyn. A throwback to the days before the impersonal big box stores and Amazon. And the price at 35.00 each was very reasonable. We're telling everyone about it :) read more

Decent selection of suits, ties and belts. Some of the prices were great and others not so much. We were helped by a nice young man BUT the manager was dismissive and the older woman ringing us up was EXTREMELY rude! What an attitude!! I'm sorry but when you are spending $200 on a suit I expect a little respect! Business owners with attitude really piss me off! I am so close to returning the suit. This review is directed at the owners to pay close attention and take note of your employee. Earlier Sunday afternoon 9/2/12 I came into the store with few of my family members to purchase my grandfather a suit. I came in few minutes after my family and when I arrived, my grandfather was already being helped by one of the store owners. Nice guy, professional, helpful and nice enough to bring a chair for my grandfather to use in the fitting room. While they were busy in the fitting room, I decided to browse around to look at their inventory and asked one of your employees that was between texting on floor if there were more suit options downstairs. Shame that I didn't catch his name. But, just so you know which employee I'm referencing - Middle aged guy, medium built, tanned complexion, bolding. Exact dialogue between us verbatim. Me - "Do you have more suits downstairs?", He - "Yes take these stairs". Me - "Thank you", He - "Do me a favor, give these pants to Jose downstairs", Me - "I don't know a Jose", He - "Don't worry, you'll see him". I worked 8 years of my career in retail and not once have I experienced this. Personally I would never dare ask any customer to do my job for me. I've never met you, we don't know each other, don't ask me to do your job, when you're texting on your cell phone. Walk five steps and give it to Jose yourself. Granted, this is a family operated business, and I have no idea if this is a family member or not, but I would think twice and re-evaluate keeping someone like this around to represent your brand. There is no way that this employee adds anything positive to customers experience and expectation. For the owners - I would pay close attention to one of your other reviews by a customer which referenced an employees of texting instead of providing customer service. Can't help to wonder if we're referring to the same person? I would also add that it's a big negative operating a store with suiting being it's core business and not have an in house tailor on hand. Being more full service will go along way, not to mention a huge revenue boost. Unfortunately, one bad experience is enough to ruin future business. read more

Holy suits! This place has more suits than you could possibly imagine, and in every price range. The upstairs is for budget suits, while the basement suits are of a higher quality. I bought a $250 suit from the basement. It would have been about $500 at Macy's or a similar retailer. I don't know how they do it, but I don't ask questions. They also carry a limited selection of shoes and shirts, and they have sport jackets and trench coats. Lots of good stuff. You'll need to have your suit altered elsewhere after your purchase -- they don't do it in-house. You CANNOT bargain there. Don't waste your time. But the prices are rock bottom to begin with, so no big deal. The service is nothing spectacular, so if you're looking to be pampered, go elsewhere. But if you know what you're looking for and what you want to spend, it's worth the trip. read more

This place is a diamond in the rough. The selection is not the largest but you can usually find at least 1-2 good name suits with a custom fit feel for something like 30-50% off of what you would pay in the city. Local neighborhood business and has a slightly shady Bensonhurst feel to it, as if some of the merchandise might have fallen off of a truck on the way from JFK. Being from around this area, this does not bother me, but if the sales guys starts to lead you down the narrow metal staircase to the basement, don't be nervous it's only where they keep the better name suits. read more

They do carry a decent selection of suits. They allocate $200 or,less suit on the 1st floor and higher quality suits in the basement area. The sale people don't seem to care much about anything. I was directed to a fitting room by the jeans area and another sale person said "why are you here while there are 4 other fitting rooms in the suit section " I guess those 2 don't really get along in the basement. However, I do find some good quality suits there. If the sale person acted more professional and showed me a few more suits in my size, I would have spent at least $1000 in there. I would have given this place a 4 star rating if these sale people get their act together! read more

It's one day away we rushed to garage at 8:30pm and all the workers were super helpful we ended up buying 2 suits they had great options for my dad to chose from and he even ended up getting 3 ties and a pair of shoes they were all very helpful. Great for when your only getting one suit but not good for getting a number of grooms men suits. They "misplaced" the suit my fiancé put money on, and tried to replace it with a suit that was a completely different look. This company also sent him home with 3 different suit styles for 4 men as if it was ok. NOT OK! We live in Harlem and he had to travel all the way back to change them. As some other reviewers noted, despite a decent selection of styles and competitive bargains, the customer service, i. e. the lack thereof, kills it all. Older employees who appear to be managers are openly annoyed with you on their best days and are extremely rude and aggressive on their worse days. My boyfriend and I had gone in to shop for several different items. He was looking to completely build his summer wardrobe with all of the essentials. We spent almost an hour picking out lots of different shirts, pants, etc. we were really happy and pleased with the selection and service until we approached the shoe department. The salesman who was working there at the time was probably one of the rudest and most unprofessional salesman I have ever had the chance to encounter. My boyfriend had asked for a shoe in his size and the man immediately gave him a nasty look with a nasty tone and voice saying he didn't have it in stock, without even looking to see what we needed. He was annoyed that we were even there and made us feel as though we were bothering him by asking him to simply do his job. It got to the point where he even started cursing at us and being rude. At that moment I felt so insulted and shocked that we had decided to just walk out and leave everything that was already picked out and prepared for us at the register. We could not bare to spend another moment at store. It was a horrible shopping experience for no reason. The gentleman in charge at the time simply said he apologized and did nothing more. We were disappointed that he would even allow such unprofessional rude and nasty behavior from an associate working in his store that is supposed to be assisting customers who are there to spend a lot of money and make a purchase. The service or lack thereof is the main reason we would never shop at this store ever again!! read more

I have been going here for years, it is my favorite men's clothing store. as mentioned, there is upstairs and downstairs for suits, and even downstairs the suits are very reasonably priced. they also have everything else a man wears, although not at the same selection (the prices are good o these things as well). the service is wonderful, they will offer you help as much as you need, without any pressure. definitely a first visit place, especially if you live locally read more

DON'T GO HERE! This was my WORST experience shopping at any suit store. The service is remarkably bad. When I walked in, a retail agent asked if I needed help, and I told him the color and size of the suit I was looking for. Apparently, they didn't have a suit in royal blue or gray in a size 40R. The employees were more busy arguing over sports then helping me find a suit. When I asked an employee to get a pair of dress shoes from the back, he brought back the wrong pair. Then, when he finally did bring out the right pair, one shoes was stained and wrinkled. When the manager came over to see what was wrong, he angirly , told me nothing was wrong with the shoes and took them away. DON'T GO HERE! read more
