HOWEVER, Dr. Cohrs office is still doing the full service and taking their time and giving us excellent un-rushed service. Dr. Cohrs and his staff are the best. I can't recommend them enough!

MAH Horrible experience…read more I would like to preface this by stating that I have previously had a very positive opinion of Dr. Cohrs personally. I firmly believe his bedside manner, attention to detail, and dental work are truly impeccable, and I appreciated his clinical care during my previous visits over the years. During my most recent visit though, things had changed. I was told by the hygienist, Lyndi, that a panoramic X-ray was "required by law" to maintain their license, with implied risk if refused. No such Michigan law exists--regulations cover equipment safety only, not mandating patient imaging (per LARA-Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and Michigan Dental Association). My low-risk profile (excellent hygiene, no cavities in years, healthy gums, recent normal bitewings) showed no clinical need. ADA 2026 guidelines require panoramic only when necessary, to minimize radiation, not routinely. When I raised the issue feeling misled about Timberview losing their license, the hygienist called in the office manager who was beyond rude, defensive, interrupted repeatedly by obscuring and pivoting to "our standard of care," then asked my opinion of their standard. I said it felt revenue-driven rather than evidence-based. She immediately told me to leave. This was gaslighting: obscuring the obvious falsehood with vague "patient care standards" and punishing honest feedback with abrupt dismissal. Deceptive communication and unprofessional handling erode trust. Patients deserve transparency, not pressure and deflection. Unfortunately the unprofessional conduct of the office manager--particularly her repeated interruptions, twisting of the initial misleading statement, dismissive attitude, and abrupt decision to ask me to leave after I shared my honest opinion--has eroded my trust in the practice as a whole. Despite my high regard for Dr. Cohrs' skills and care, this experience will unfortunately prevent me from returning. Perhaps the business/name change to Timberview Dental has caused the business to now become profit driven over patient care driven. Be VERY careful about agreeing to unnecessary procedures that are lining their pockets.

I had been given a consultation to have a wisdom tooth pulled, through the Dental Office within the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The Community Care Department approved the consultation to be scheduled at the Kalamazoo Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, the Briarwood Valley Office Park. West Main. suite 200, Kalamazoo, MI 49006 location. I called the the phone number (269-388-2026) listed for that office, on the date of 02/20/2026. I had spoken with an employee of the Kalamazoo Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and was able to schedule an appointment for 03/04/2026 at 1300. Again, this appointment was scheduled for the Briarwood Valley Office Park. West Main. suite 200, Kalamazoo, MI 49006 location. As I had arrived to my scheduled appointment at the Briarwood Valley Office Park. West Main. suite 200, Kalamazoo, MI 49006 location on 03/04/2026, I noticed a marquee sign located at the entrance of the Office Park, the sign did advertise the information for the Kalamazoo Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. As I arrived in front of suite 200, I noticed a sign mounted on the side of the building stating information for the Kalamazoo Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. As I had entered the office to the joining offices, I see another sign presenting the information for the Kalamazoo Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery mounted on the wall, next to the office entry door. And then I noticed a paper size note taped to the glass door. The paper note stated "Our West Main office is closed today". In my confusion, I called the number listed on the paper size note. I was able to speak with an employee of Kalamazoo Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and had been notified that the West Main office has been closed for three years. Again, they want me to believe that this location has been closed for three years. The website for the Kalamazoo Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, has two locations listed for services. The West Main location is one. There is an active phone number listed on the website for the West Main location. There is a Marquee sign at the entrance of the Office Park with their information. There is an active sign on the side of building near the entry door. There was a paper size note taped to the entry door stating that they are closed today. The office does seem to be an active Dental office, with furniture. And for my favorite, I was able to schedule the appointment at the West Main office with an employee of Kalamazoo Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. The Department of Veterans Affairs Community Care staff were confused with the information as well. The staff at the Kalamazoo Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, informed the Community Care Office that they called my phone number to cancel the appointment at the West Main location. but, my phone number must not be in service. I have not received any apologies for the Kalamazoo Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Nor would I believe that one could be sincere. I will not be using this Dental office in the future.

I was referred to Dr. George Kirby at West Michigan Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery after a routine…read moredental exam indicated the need for an extraction of a couple of wisdom teeth. This being my first surgical experience, I was quite nervous. At my initial consultation with Dr. Kirby he informed me that one of the teeth wouldn't need to be pulled at this time. This was a refreshing surprise for a dental practitioner to not push for as many procedures as possible. During this consultation, everything was explained and easy to understand. Dr. Kirby stayed to answer any questions I had and I didn't feel rushed at all. It was as if I was his only patient that day with the level of attention he and his assistant showed me during that consultation. Upon leaving the consultation, I felt more at ease about the procedure and felt confident that Dr. Kirby would take good care of me. On the day of my procedure, Dr. Kirby was running a bit behind schedule due to some additional work a previous patient was having performed. But, Dr. Kirby's assistant checked on me regularly and kept me informed the entire time. When Dr. Kirby arrived in my procedure room, he answered a couple more questions I had and then went to work. The procedure went perfectly and Dr. Kirby even spent some time in the recovery room with me to answer after-care questions and make sure I knew everything I needed to before heading home. In the months following my procedure, I ran into some issues with my insurance company. Dr. Kirby provided a letter for the insurance company on my behalf and ensured that the situation was completely resolved. The fact that his high-level of care and compassion extends beyond the surgical room shows he truly cares about his patients' whole experience. Dr. Kirby's ability to quickly put me at ease and the level of care and attention he provides is extraordinary. While nobody looks forward to dental surgery, if I ever find myself in need of it again, Dr. Kirby will always be my first choice.

Dr. Rowland and his staff could not be more accommodating and kind to the fearful visitor like me. Rather than treat me like I had a problem--that all I had to do was "think differently" and I would suddenly be no longer afraid--they took care of me, offered me anything and everything I needed to make me comfortable (topical numbing to make sure I didn't feel the shot), and on top of it, they treated me with compassion. I can still remember the first time I was there for a filling, and Dr. Rowland sat there and spoke to me while squeezing my shoulder comfortingly as the numbing set in, helping me get my mind off what was about to happen. Now, while I still can't say I look forward to dental work, at least I don't dread it. Incidentally, I also appreciate how well the staff knows their patients--Dr. Rowland always asks after my family and remembers conversations from previous visits. I feel very welcome there and would recommend him to anyone!

I was a patient with the former dentist who retired. I continued with the practice expecting at…read moreleast a decent level of service. But I have been repeatedly disappointed. Issue #1: They do not return phone calls in a prompt manner. (Their office is closed on Fridays. But I called them on Friday, Oct. 17th after 4pm to ask for a callback on Monday to schedule an appointment for a dental issue. I expected that they would call me back some time on Monday when they reopened. But they did not. So, I called on Monday, Oct. 20th at 4:50pm and left another message, reminding them that I had called on Friday about a dental issue and that they still had not called me back. They did not call me back until Tuesday, Oct. 21st at 8:03am.) Issue #2: The dentist is not readily available (As a new practice at that location, they had rotating dentists seeing the patients. They explained to me that they were in the process of hiring a new dentist, which is why there would be different dentists present. Mind you, I do not have many dental issues, so I only visit the dental office once every 6 months. But I still was able to notice the rotation of faces. The last time I was there, last summer, the dentist was not even present. The dental hygenist told me that she would have the dentist call me about a potential cavity that was spotted on the x-ray. I never received a phone call.) Issue #3: They do not prioritize patient issues. (When the receptionist finally called me back on Tuesday, Oct. 21st, I described the tooth sensitivity that I was feeling. She told me that the soonest she could schedule me was for the following Monday morning, Oct. 27th at 8am. Although I wanted something sooner, especially considering that I had to call them twice to get a simple callback, I accepted the Monday appointment.) Issue #4: They do not respect the patient's time. (As a professional in my own field, I rarely take time off. When I do, I have to make special arrangements. Making those arrangements takes a lot of time on my part. I spent a good portion of my time on Sunday, Oct. 26th, to prepare for my absence on Monday, Oct. 27th. After dropping off my child to school on Monday, I was en route to the dental office for my much-awaited appointment at 8am. The office receptionist called me at 7:35am to tell me that the dentist was not in town and that my appointment would have to be rescheduled.) Summary: Life happens. Nothing is perfect. Everyone makes errors. But when the errors repeatedly occur, you have to step back, evaluate the situation, and take action. I find it curious that they couldn't find an appointment for the week of Oct. 20th when I initially called. But, when they canceled last-minute, they had an available appointment only 2 days later on Wednesday, Oct. 29th. It is even more peculiar that the dentist did not communicate his delayed travel sooner so that his patients could be informed earlier. Yes, the weekend is your own personal time. But, if you know that your personal time is potentially going to affect your professional time, then you have an obligation to inform those who will be affected. It is a common courtesy and a professional duty. The dental office is conveniently close to my house. Not to mention, I have been at that practice since I was in elementary school. I am now in my mid-40s. However, the ownership has changed and I am no longer receiving the stellar dental care that I once did. Although there are some nice staff members, the overall service is disappointing and lackluster. Feel free to try their services, if you'd like. But keep my story in mind because you may also find yourself in the same boat. By the way, as a result of my experiences at Kzoo Family Dental, I have decided to remove my two daughters and me from that practice and join another.

They had good reviews so I thought they would be a good place to become a patient of their practice. It now has been 48 hours I've waited for a return call that never happened.
