As far as video game stores go, Gametraders Marion is boss level. What really sets this place apart is the staff who expertly guard all your gaming needs and pop culture paraphernalia. This is not a den of snobbishly anti-social nerds who make you feel uncomfortable, these are friendly and helpful individuals, at least one of them is even a girl!
Don't be fooled into thinking these cats are too cool to hold the keys to unlocking game knowledge though, they all know what it is you (and perhaps your child) are after. Not only that, they actually care about it too and are primed to consul you on your console.
A desire to deliver superior service can sometimes slow them down a bit as they remain constantly focussed on whichever customer they're assisting and not the ever increasing line at the checkout. They won't let you walk out with the shabby display version of Mario's hat, they'll make you wait whilst they comb through their stock room to retrieve the hat of the redest red and the best embroidered M. At the time of purchase, if you're in a hurry, this may seem a tad annoying, but I bet they don't get many returns.
Gametraders at Marion also host many nerd culture events throughout the year including cosplay comps, game showdowns in addition to their common awesome sales. The last time I went there it was apparently their fourth birthday celebrations and so there were many people there, and throughout the shopping centre, in full costume. Gametraders make not only the world of Warcraft or whichever realm you visit fun, they upload it to the real world too. read more
