I have a mad love for collectables, figurines and toys! That leads to my mad love for this store. I…read morehave actually been following this store from when it was a small in Regent Arcade. I was so happy to hear that they were able to open a bigger store near Rundle Mall on Twin Street. As a result, they now have three times the amount of stuff for me to rummage through. This store stocks all new collectables. Everything from Star Wars to My Little Pony to Nightmare on Elm Street. If you are after action figurines, signed posters or cool plush toys, this place is for you. The owner of the store is always happy to have a chat with you and help you find the collectables you are after. So, if you are missing something in a series, be sure to stop by and ask him if he can locate it for you. I found one of my prized toy possessions in this store, a plush Aliens Chest Buster! Yup, I totally own a funny looking alien spawning toy. Oh, I know you geeks will appreciate how much I love this little guy. This is a great store for gifts for children or adults. You will find something for any lover of comics, cartoons, Sci-Fi or horror. And yes, it's still totally cool to collect toys!

Games World is a nice little store in Marion Shopping Center. Situated near the cinema, clothing…read moreshops and the giant Dick Smith Electronics store, Games World is easy to spot. With a great range of boardgames, books and electronics, you can pick up some really cool trivia quiz packs, mazes or one of the umpteen versions of Monopoly that exist, for that one person who is always hard to buy for. In terms of pricing, it can be quite varied. Sometimes, the deals are good and sometimes, they are outrageous. The staff are general quite helpful, however if you can't find what you are looking for, which has happened a few times, you may need to turn to online stores - which generally have a better range. Just a word of warning though, nano blocks may look cool but are so tiny and hard to put together. They have quite a few of these packs though and they do look awesome, so it is worth checking out the different monuments and structures that the staff have put together. Another word of warning, the store can be really, really full near christmas or on the weekend. It is a very tiny store with not overly modest aisles, meaning that the shopping experience comes with the "game" of being able to manoeuvre around trolleys and other customers. All in all, this place is great for people into board games, so if you are hard pressed for buying gifts, this place will surely have something.

In my opinion Games World is a toy store that caters well to a slightly older child demographic…read more As the name somewhat implies there is a great range of toys and puzzles within this premises, which are perfect when seeking gifts for that in between tween age group. Of course you could always just buy a video game and keep the kids happy, however Games World provides some alternative yet classic favourites. Expect to find games here with titles such as Smart Ass, Fact or Crap, Money Cafe and Kitchen Science. The games and puzzles here are creative and stimulating choices for a generation of youth who generally have everything. There are also some unique gifts here for younger children such as a cute line of toys from the Puppet Factory, however primarily I believe this store serves its purpose best for the older kids. Its convenient Marion Shopping Centre location is home to a fairly small store, however it makes the most of the space it has by squeezing loads of quality products within its confined space. The staff are also friendly, which is always a positive sign.

The name of this shop really reveals nothing about it. When I went into it I had never heard of it…read moreor seen anything like it. I think it is even going to be a struggle to explain. Walk in and you see what looks and smells like a block of chocolate. Next to it, a tin of biscuits. Around the room there are cakes, bottles of wines, soccer balls etc. However, they are all books. Yes books that are made to look like what they are discussing. Inside each of the books it discusses the history of each item, including photos and quotes. I can't decide if this is tacky or cool? Mum and I decided that they would be a lot better if they were notepads or diaries. How good would it be to have a diary that looked and smelt like chocolate? You can't really use a history book too much, but it could be a good dining table book. The lady working there told us that the books were great for presents. Hilarious giving someone a bottle of wine and it actually being a book (I for one would be extremely disappointed). However, it is a good idea for children. They would think it was fun, whilst also learning about their chosen item!

Toots Books is a truly creative concept of a book store and I can't say I've ever seen anything…read morelike it before. They sell books that come in shapes of actual objects such as a chocolate bar, a football, a shoe or a CD. At first glance I didn't even know what it was until the friendly lady behind the counter explained what it's all about. Take for example the book that looks like a bottle of wine: they sell it in a cardboard box that looks like a box with real wine. The book inside then tells the story of wine with plenty of pictures and trivia. I really like the idea of the shop and it's certainly fun to look at all their things. Would I buy it for myself? Probably not, but it can be a great gift idea!
