There is also an area to the right of the entrance where you can pay a $10 fee per person to play a large assortment of games they have in their board game room. I came in with a gift card, looking to purchase a new game for myself. I wasn't too sure what I wanted, so I asked an employee for some advice, and she was wonderful! She took the time to learn what types of games I enjoy playing and walked me through a few different recommendations, explaining how the gameplay worked for each of them. Toy Trains! Model Kits! And all the other art sets, car tracks, European and Japanese toys and "Stuff." You know how a modern store just has people behind the counter? Hobby Works has staff walking the floor to help you. And they really help. And they know their stuff. And when you're there, it's got that friendly clubhouse atmosphere like you stopped off here while walking home from school in the 6th grade. Sometimes it feels like with online shopping, kids won't ever experience the friendly local stores like we did. Not while Hobby Works is open, it's all modern, but it's a shopping experience that most stores lost over the years- and our kids deserve to experience that friendliness.

The guy managing the store was very helpful! There were different items for sale and I didn't know what I needed. He explained the differences between all of the items and he helped me get what I needed for my nephew. I also learned that pre-COVID the store would host Pokémon games in one of the rooms. I think that's awesome that the store hosted games where the community could get together. I hope they resume once the COVID era ends. (Do adults play Pokémon? After talking to him, I think it would be fun to learn.) Since this was my first time in a sport card shop, I was even able to get a small pack of baseball cards for my friend who collects them. The store was bright and cheery and had a happy atmosphere. I had a great customer service experience and would definitely go there again and recommend it to anyone.
