Typically we'd hit up game stop but those seem to be closing. Hubby found Calico and so we took a quick trip over. Wowzer! They practically had an entire wall of Xbox 360 games which was Perfect. Store is well organized and staff was friendly. This place is better than GameStop. We left with several games all well priced. I'm sure this won't be their last time visiting. This visit was during COVID but honestly nothing to state the visit was not pleasant. Friendly workers that was willing to help out but was not hovering over you while you looked around. Games are fairly priced and range from PS1-4, Xbox, all Nintendo systems etc. the pricing is based off the quality of the games which means if you are not too picky you could get the same game maybe $5-10 cheaper which a not "mint" condition version. Anyone complaining about the prices should really try looking online or other stores because I have looked around and these people are cheaper if not the same as you can find online but you will save on shipping fees! Keep up the great work! Only issue with the store is that it is smaller than the Escondido store but they are just starting out so I assume the selection will grow after COVID.

I'm getting back into Pokémon cards after collecting as a kid. Now I'm grown, have some money to spend, and figured it would be fun getting back into the hobby. Obviously I don't know every single thing about card conditions, pricing, sets, etc. yet. They had a card for $52. I looked it up and found one for $33, so I offered the guy $45. Seemed reasonable to me. What I DIDN'T notice was that the $33 card was listed as heavily played. My bad. I didn't know. I'm still learning. Instead of just saying, "Hey man, that $33 one is heavily played, ours is in much better condition, that's why it's $52," this dude looks at me like I just tried trading him a Caterpie for a Charizard and goes: "Why would I do that? That's my price. That one is all fucked up." BROTHER I DIDN'T KNOW. Then he basically tells me next time I need to learn and do my research before trying to make deals. Damn Professor Oak, my fault. I thought I walked into a card shop, not my final exam at Pokémon University. The funny part is I WASN'T trying to lowball the guy. I legitimately thought $45 was a fair offer based on what I had found. All he had to do was explain the difference and I would've been like, "Oh shit, okay, that makes sense." Instead he made me feel like an idiot for not knowing something. Then another guy walks in who obviously knows his Pokémon cards and suddenly the employee evolves into his final form. Now he's friendly, talking cards, buddy-buddy, having a great time. I'm standing there like damn, apparently I need 8 gym badges before customer service gets unlocked. Maybe the AC being ass had him irritated. Maybe he was hungry. Maybe Team Rocket stole his lunch. I don't know. But the customer service today was TERRIBLE. And that sucks because I actually like this store. I've spent hundreds here and specifically come here because I want to support a local mom-and-pop shop instead of buying everything online. Not everybody walking into a card shop is going to know everything about Pokémon. Some of us are getting back into something we loved as kids and finally have adult money to spend on it. Instead of making those customers feel stupid, teach them something. I promise you, we're probably the easiest people to sell cards to.

I think if they have what you want and you can't find it anywhere else, that is awesome. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy from them, but just that their prices are definitely high. What really pushed me away from buying, though, was a disagreement between a male boss and a younger male employee. The male boss was verbally intense with the employee, snapping orders at him and accusing him of putting a receipt in the wrong place. The employee defended himself and said it was not him, but it was very awkward and uncomfortable at how the boss was speaking to his employee and all of that in front of multiple guests. Respect is a very big thing to me and I believe employers need to respect their employees. I am not sure if this is a family business or not, but family or not, the communication between felt uncomfortable to witness. This boss definitely could have approached the employee in a kinder manor and simply asked a question of where he put something.

Hubs found another "happy place" in SD County!…read more Knowhere G&C is located in an industrial area of San Marcos, near an antique mall, several home furnishings stores and next to San Marcos Deli. This seems an ideal location, with plenty of free parking and, judging by the flow of pedestrian traffic in and out of this shop on a "Comic Book Wednesday" many customers agree. Hubs declared a large selection of comics, games and collectibles. He proudly emerged over an hour after parking with a smile on his cute nerdy face and a bag filled with reading materials in his hand. He was very surprised and happy that his purchase amount ~$80TL awarded him with a cool graphic novel. Happiness shortly turned to a bit of confusion when he took a moment to peruse his receipt and discovered he had been charged about 4x the amount he should have been for a comic. He checked online to make sure he didn't grab a ltd edition, or special release, and determined he hadn't. I waited while he returned inside. About 10 minutes he reemerged - HAPPY AGAIN! Seems the clerk, Daniel (guessing from the receipt ), didn't catch it and agreed it had been incorrectly priced. He further apologized saying he usually catches the comics over $20 and confirms the customer is aware when they are purchasing a more expensive issue. So Daniel was sorry he missed that completely. Hubs confirmed that he was still ok receiving the free graphic novel and was assured, yes, his purchase amount still qualified for the free novel. The over charge was returned to Hubs and he was happy with the store, Daniel and his customer service. Knowhere G&C has been bookmarked for our future SD road trips. Cheers! "CC"
